  • Lol at the trollface pope. I'm sure if he'd seen Jesus at the time the pope would have molested him.

  • I posted it to FB the day you posted it two years ago...I am posting it, again. You did amazing with this. You matter, JoeFelice. And, I miss your videos.

  • @TheAppieShow Thank you. I have a little footage in the can that I'll publish soon. Just a small comedy thing.

  • Year 3 now that I've come back to this video. Still struggling with the season and still finding your video helpful. Thanks again.

  • That was very interesting. I'm an atheist, but I do genuinely respect religion and find Jesus quite fascinating. I had never thought about this before.

    Honestly I feel very inspired.

  • The story of Jesus's birth can be very inspirational, just like the numerous works of fiction available to people regarding hardships and poverty.

Unfortunately, people tend to think Jesus is the 'most important person in the world.'

    Either it's gullibility, conditioning, brainwashing, the fear of the unknown, the WANT for there to be 'something', or just plain old saturation;

I hope someone speaks the truth to me when I start worshiping Luke Skywalker or Kilgore Trout.

  • Thanks, really. I randomly viewed this video and it's beautiful. I am religious and have always been captured by the humility and poverty of Jesus, which I can see you are too.

Martin Luther said that if a man could imagine Heaven he'd die from happiness, if he could imagine Hell, he'd die from fear. My favorite Christmas song involves Jesus' coming down from heaven, which I see in Luther's perspective.

    Again, thanks.

  • Watched this last year and it moved me. Came back because this Christmas is really getting me down and I really needed something to kick me in the teeth. It moved me even more this year. Thank you for posting this.

  • @eccentricfather Thank you for letting me know, that's great to read.

  • Will be using this in my sermon tomorrow - it is such an important message.

(I hope I don't crush too many people's romantic view of Jesus' birth).

  • U know..

    wow...really...

How much we are blinded by the world...

    He teaches us Humbleness...

    And he showed us...

    The way he died...

And for what sin of his?

    Jesus is the way...

  • I thought that 3:27 on the video Jesus and Creation would interest you - perhaps the whole thing.

  • Great video, I think a lot of people misuse the whole nativity scene thing. It's true that it was the most humiliating way to enter the world. Not only that, but the way he died was also the most humiliating. And he did it to save sinners! Crazy to think...all you have to do is repent and follow him and he will give you life. Wow :)

One point though, if you respect what Jesus said and who he was, then logically you must respect him as divine, because he taught that he was divine.

    Thanks!

  • i greatly appreciate this vid... i posted it on my facebook which started a great conversation between me and a friend. it's depth is missed in conversation with the population, and this subject pulled it out =] awwww i am so glad! thanks for sharing your thoughts! bet u'd be amazing to converse with

  • Wow that was amazing!

  • I like this video. :) It makes me love my Lord more. :) You ought to believe in Jesus too brother in Christ. ;)

  • Loved the video Joe. How true. It was never the miracles of Jesus that ever grabbed me, but how humbly he lived his life that was truelly amazing to me.

"I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ." - -- Mahatma Gandhi

  • Just a fantastic video!

Great point at the end - we all matter. (Except maybe Hitler & Stealthkiller2107).

Amazing to think how humble / humilating his birth was - but even more so his death.

  • Stealthkiller ... Stopping looking in the mirror at yourself man. You stare too long and you mistake yourself for other people. LOL

  • Learn proper English dipshit.

I'm sorry, but Joe looks like a faggot. He reminds me of one those aboriginals who buttfucked each other really hard in Australia. He needs a new haircut and he needs to shave.

  • And you need to learn not to judge people on how they look. Especially when they have such a wide array of talents and interests as Joe Felice.

As for Cusp62, why don't you learn HIS native language, stealthkiller2107? He clearly doesn't speak English as his first language (that grammar is Germanic), but he's making an effort. Before you bash, you should make an equal effort.

  • Nice narration.

  • great job and great vid, keep up the good work!

  • That really brings it into perspective. Not only does it mean 'you matter', it also means that you can make a difference in this world just by being.

  • so...i'm pretty sure i <3 you. haha. lol

  • Wow! This is amazing. I am just astonished by this video. I am not religious, but I DO respect Jesus and his teachings.

    Favoriting!

  • Thanks very much, Pat, Chris, or Mary!

  • lmao. You're welcome. It's actually, Chris. The other names are my sisters-- I couldn't get the YouTube name I wanted. So, we just use this one name, but It's my account.

  • Nice job. You hit the nail on the head. Now, I'll be praying for your faith. God Bless!

  • Damn, that's so... damn. Cool.

  • Likelikelikelikelike. This is good!

  • This was truly moving...saying anything else about it would start me rambling. It was incredible, especially for it being all of 2:22.

  • im jewish i knew that o.o

  • good thoughts, Joe.

  • Joe- This is spectacular. I'm posting it on my facebook. I doubt I've ever preached the nativity better in the 28 years I've been preaching it...Thank you. I have tears in my eyes.

  • That's so great to read. When Dan tweeted about it, what I was really thinking was, "I wonder if he's gonna show it to his mom."

  • A friend in Texas just watched it and plans to use it in one of his worship services this season. I think I'll use it, too- at least at our second service- I'll let you know when and how it goes...it's really brilliant.

  • Bring something up about prophet Mohammed, how about that ? thanks a lot, that was really really good video content, SUBSCRIBED

  • Joe! That was awesome. You've managed to restore meaning to the story of the birth of Jesus.

And there it was in the word manger. Waiting for someone to apply a little etymology and restore the whole tone.

Cool it's no longer a boring cliché to me now!

  • "Do it in?"

  • very good i like it alot

  • always awesome, man

  • We're also kind of taught growing up Christian that Jesus was a little white baby. haha Despite the fact he lived in the middle east.

  • That was beautiful in a different kind of way

  • I like that thought.

Also something not pertaining to the topic whatsoever, I love your voice lol

    I also love your videos

  • very interesting point

  • Great video, I'm enjoying your videos.

  • I am not religious, but that message was really "divine."

The thought of being born and put in an animal trough makes me cringe. The infant's immune system's weak enough already, and now you put him in a virus rich animal food holder.

But yeah, saying you're more important than somebody else just because you have more money, or have achieved more doesn't make sense. We're all worth the same, in the end.

  • Very nice message, Joe. That is absolutely the heart of Jesus' message: that each and every person on earth has unsurpassable worth.

I highly recommend Greg Boyd's book, The Jesus Legend. Would love to hear your thoughts on it.

  • Joe, I liked this approach for you. You have a nice voice and I enjoyed this type of video from you. Thank you.

  • Very good.

I believe it was C.S. Lewis said once that you have three options for an opinion of Jesus. That he was who he said he was (God), and therefore someone worth listening to and worthy of worship; or that he was crazy; or that he was lying. The last two meaning he wasn't worth anything.

I see why people today can think of him as a Roman-era Ghandi, that he was a great teacher and great example of a human being. But he did also make some heavy duty claims about being God.

  • Yeah that's an important point.

I think when people say that they relate to (or believe in) Jesus as a person and not God or A god doesn't mean that they dismiss the idea. How can a person relate to God?

It is possible though for a person to relate to Jesus as a person. I think Jesus is cool with that.

But yeah some people do implicitly say that they believe Jesus was a "good" person but not a deity.

I believe Clive had mentioned something about a poached egg in that paragraph as well!

  • Fourth option: that he didn't say the things people have claimed that he said. Remember that the New Testament wasn't written until decades after he died. The Gospels were written after the writings of Paul.

  • lol great video! (:

  • Yup. Well put. I liked the picture of Jesus chillin' on the hill.

  • i've said it before and I'll say it again, i fuckin love your voice dude!!! You would kick Morgan Freeman's ass!! hahaha

  • awesome!

  • This is lovely, and poignant, and very, very true.

    Thanks!

  • One of the best Youtube videos I have seen in a long time, Well Said Joe, but must of all well done.

  • well said!!!

  • great message

  • fuckin eh

  • well done.

  • Hear via Pogobat.

    You gave me tears. Thanks.

  • really enjoyed this, joe

  • what a lovely message joe! your gonna rake in the subscribers with all this quality content! :)

  • That was a really nice message Joe! I'm glad you're posting lots of cool videos lately...I like watching your politics videos but don't always get it because I'm from the UK!

  • Christians are ignorant fucks.

  • no you are ignorant.

  • Very cool way to set context, Joe. I'm a fan of what you're doing with your channel.

  • this is so cool, because it represents the bible in the context it is meant to be held in, people are so wrapped on the argument if the bible is real stories or not, they miss the point that the bible is filled with moralistic stories, whether true or not, they are ment to teach a lesson, i am not christian in the terms of believing in the bible, but i do believe in most of its morals, like the one you pointed out here

  • "luxury human birth market" I did not know.

  • Awesome! I am not a religious person, but I think anything that remind us all of the intrinsic dignity of being a human being regardless of out a social condition is a great thing.

  • oh nice!

  • I just subscribed yesterday. I am really suprised to find a vlog that isn't about just everyone's everyday life. It is really nice that people take the time to try and reach some one else on a more of a personal note. I really liked this.

  • wow Joe, love this

  • Joe, I just watched this and then sat there for a minute with a smile on my face. Then I showed it to my boyfriend who did the same thing. I think this is wonderful for Christians(boyfriend) and non-christians(me) alike, and I hope to see more like this from you!

  • Yay!

  • Is Joe christian?

  • So you and Shay are both Christians, right?

  • looks like someone isnt buy the consumer whore santa claus scheme for christmas

  • Don't let this make you think you don't have to get me a gift. Wow, all those words were one syl la ble.

  • lol neat

  • Matter to whom?

  • It doesn't matter.

  • It doesn't matter who we matter to?

I think it does. The analogy of Jesus, and the sentiment 'we matter' seems to imply that humanity has intrinsic value, in a universal context. Thus the question, to whom or to what, do we matter? And why?

  • Beautiful, thanks for that Joe. I never thought of the Nativity Story like that before, I appreciate you putting it into perspective as it was meant to be.

  • you matter too joe

  • Woohoo!

  • Wow Joe, that was very informative. I had no idea what a manger was. I always heard he was born in one but never thought it was a trough for animals to eat out of. Honestly I thought the manger was another name for the barn. Thanks for the informative clip. Oh yeah, was Shay Carl born in a manger?

  • Smallest of the small.

  • I do matter? I KNEW IT! Thanks Joe that was great.

  • I totally agree with you Brandiemh! I think God used Joe here in this message. Its inspirational, expecially the end. I would love to hear his personal views on faith. Joe, you "like" Jesus, Jesus "LOVES" you. I am pleased with this video, and I did rate it five stars. Its nice to see someone intelectual take on this subject!

  • I rated it five stars also, very cool guy!! And as for mrssarahstrong, you just put into words what I couldn't! thank you! :)

  • I thought this was absolutly beautiful, until you said that you dont worship Jesus as a devine..whatever you said next....but you do like the guy. What do you mean by that? You believe in Him? Do you believe that he came into this world for a reason, then...my friend...you do worship Him, because by his grace you are saved from the ugliness of hell because of one simple reason....you believe in Him

  • true :) But I know what he means, he means that he like's the concept. I'm not sure if he believe's in Jesus or not, but he knows' the story. The only part that really bothers me, is that yeah we matter, but we don't matter like Jesus. But I still get what he is saying at the end. No matter how bad your life sucks, you matter. I think the Lord would want us to know that. And I feel like no matter who the message comes from it's true.

  • I'm going to assume he likes Jesus' philosophy... he doesn't have to worship him or believe he was a divine being tp like what he represents or professed. Some people just like to see Jesus as a philosopher.

  • wow! that was beautiful! I worship Jesus. I was expecting you to say something mean cause people always do, but I loved what you had to say. People are always taking up for homosexuality, and abortion and stuff even if they don't agree with it or participate in it, but when it comes to Christianity, unless you are a Christian then it is put down by someone even if they don't participate or believe. Thank you on a Christians behalf. You are an awesome person.

  • what's today's theme?

  • Thursday is the one day a week with no theme. It's whatever I want at the time.

  • wow..... beautiful......

  • That was insightful

  • Thank you Joe for reminding us that we all matter; I forget that sometimes.

  • You are awesome :D

  • Joe, you are a wise man.

No pun intended with the nativity scene.

Based on the message you gave, if your not a christian, you should be.

    Great job!

  • Hey, I like that pun! I'm not a Christian, but I was raised one, and unlike many other apostates, I still appreciate it.

  • you did a really great job with this joe, it's very thoughtful.

  • wow that was amazing

  • very nice

  • great vid

  • Joe, this little message outdoes pretty much every sermon on the birth of Jesus I've heard, and I am someone who goes to church regularly and believes that Jesus is God.

You understand the real circumstances of Jesus' birth. And you also get why that makes it particularly amazing.

Just thought it was cool that you see it this way, because many people totally miss it!

  • Great Vid Joe! Remember, "He's got the whole world in his hands" LOL

  • Heeey one question what ever happen to the good ole bathtub?

  • eeh Shut up! Rate whatever you want. We will never know. This was the most modest "star begging" I have ever seen on youtube so get over it. Geeez.

  • 'No matter how bad your life sucks, you matter.'

    I like that :]

  • I never thought about this really. Just thought a manger was some sort of crib....lol.

Better than being put on the ground or something I guess...

  • Damn Joe... this was good.

  • Jesus would be the greatest friend to have.

Great video, Joe. Made me b'aww. I needed a new b'aww.

  • i feel you 100% on every thing you said i been trying to put it in the right words 4 ever and you jus did 4 me ..ty

  • amazing-so true...

  • I love the way you think. Your so beautiful.

  • Thursday is anything day.

  • This made me teary eyed. Loved it.

  • Thank you

  • And now i realize where my YT name comes in handy =)

  • What's with the annotation in the beginning? It seems Joe is starting to imitate the big vloggers. Guess we'll soon be seeing "rate five stars for...whatever bull reason"..

I'm sick of it. I fully understand that some youtubers remind their viewers to rate their work. Many forget, and it's only fair for people who put work into a video to get feedback.

But telling people how to vote? HEEELL NO!

For now i'm not voting. If we get to the demand part, i'll vote 1* every time or just leave.

  • I think my way is pretty understated, and it has a big effect. I'd be crazy not to do it. But if you find annotations that annoying, here's how you can turn them all off.

Hover over your username at the top, click "Account". Click "playback setup" on the left sidebar, expand the annotations category, uncheck, and save. Presto. No more stars.

If you only want to do it for a specific video, use the icon in the lower right hand corner of the video.

  • <3 joe

  • JoeF: You're right. For now at least you're not acting like the people who taught you. My guess is however, that it's a matter of time. Even the Youtubers that were most about the experience and having fun seems to do it now a days.

I know how to turn annotations off btw, but thanks anyway.

I don't know.. Guess i'm just dissapointed. You're way above the average fame seeking youtuber mentally. Didn't think you would stoop to this.

But hey.. It's your right to decide what to do, no doubt.

  • I have to agree about the star begging. Content should be rated for what it is, not because you asked (or in 90% of cases, begged) to be rated 5. I understand, you're trying to make a living off a YouTube partnership which can potentially be very profitable; but honestly, you'll get more stars with the best of content, so that should probably be the focus of all YouTubers. It's also quite arrogant to assume your content is always 5 stars. Star-begging undermines the entire concept of a ratings.

  • if we were allowed to give a 6 star to one video out of all the videos on youtube, i'd give mine to joe because he has really good taste. every video is unique, i honestly dont know how he does it.

  • Haha, the sixth star is that little heart underneath the stars!

  • You're reading a lot into *****. If I put it in, more people will see my work. That's as deep as it goes. It takes up 1/20th of the space that an overlay advertisement takes up, and goes away in 3 seconds. Rate whatever you want.

  • Fair enough.

On topic though, I've really enjoyed your perspectives within the last two videos, so they were worth 5 stars. :) You have a fairly unique way of looking at things. I don't think I've honestly looked at Jesus' birth in that light, being as how you're correct in your observation that most Nativity scenes are portrayed as glorious, clean, and seemingly filled with warmth.

So far you only aggravate me when you discuss politics.

  • Thanks dude.

  • how bout shut the fuck up. i don't wanna fight you over the internet but if he wants people to rate then he wants people to rate. tbh you wasted your time typing that.

  • Well I love Him and I'm sure he likes this. Great message Joe!

  • WOW great message!!!

  • BRAVO! If I could ten star this I would!

  • Thanks Joe, I agree with eman2489, universal. Great video!

  • D: ummm....k

  • your a fucking inspiration

  • I'm taking classes about the global rich-poor dichotomy this semester. Depressing stuff.. 1 billion humans live in absolute poverty (less than 1 $ a day), but seeing this video made me think (for some reason) that close to a 100% of all other creatures on earth live receive even less than that. When comparing 99% of all creatures to the 1/7 of all humans, maybe we aren't that bad off anyway! I can engage in gluttony this Christmas with a clear conscience!

  • Well put--especially in a manner that is universal to almost all beliefs.

  • Thank you, that was the goal.

  • dude, that is impressive. touching. I liked it. keep em coming.

PS: I am still searching for a meaning to the whole point of life and religion, so... yeah.

  • that last statement is powerful. good video, joe.

  • "hopefully it didn't come used"....nice. love the thoughts joe. very solid ideas oncfe again

  • its not a true story, it cant be proven, theres no proof of jesus, just storys, not even first had diaries

  • That's not true, Jesus has been proven to have existed, but not if he infact was the son of god or if he was just a fraud.

  • I've heard that too, that secular historians consider it likely that there was a real Jesus of Nazareth.

  • Best video to date Joe. Makes some think.......

  • Thank you for your thoughts, Joe. Seriously. You're one of a kind here on Youtube. I hope you get bigger.

  • wow, this is a powerful video. I cant believe how you put it. I am so impressed and I am an Orthodox Jew

  • Even though I'm an atheist, I appreciate a lot of religious ideas, and biblical Jesus seems like a pretty cool fellow. I'm not sure what the actual man Jesus's character was *based* on was like, but the character himself is pretty cool.

  • right on

  • You never disappoint, Joe. Have you ever thought about writing a book?

  • Hell, everybody's thought about it. It's that next step that's tricky...

  • Holy moses! This video is great! The video does load all the way fyi. But really these vids are getting extremely intelligent and without surprise, probably influential to many viewers. I have to say though, it makes you think about past expierences and other out looks in life. Very well done Mr. Joe Felice

  • Thanks, Mike.

  • Why destroy the last part of your video, i tough your where one of those that saw everyting logical.

Everything we have done so far will have no impact on our universe after our race have died out. So how can someone mean something when every single one of us doesn't?

  • Because meaning comes from us. Outer space is not consulted.

  • Again. Youre my bff. In that you take the time to let me know that we matter.... this was awesome... I always had a complex with being raised a catholic jew I never knew how to feel about jesus... my parents always let us celebrate both holidays and go to both church and temple but still it was all very confusing and as i grew up i knew jesus was important but this is a good explaination of how i feel about him... and how i feel about Christmas, thank you for finding the words ive been look for

  • Thanks for the heartfelt support, Tara!

  • Such an awesome perspective on the subject. Thank you for this.

  • Great video Joe, I enjoyed it very much! ;D

  • wow, i never thought about it like that brah.

but you're exactly right. great video, great everything.

  • I don't know about you guys but I can't get this video to load all the way. You might want to come back a bit later once processing is done.

  • working fine for me

  • loaded perfectly for me.

  • Thanks guys, glad to know it.

  • I liked this vid, I like all your vids. Thank you very much Joe.

  • Man joe has got to be in my top ten fav youtubers of all time!!!

  • lol

  • 4th!

  • cool cool.

  • first! where were u orn Joe?

  • Mountainside Hospital, Bloomfield New Jersey.
