1:35 < would like to see the face of the cunt who started to scream at Joo smashes. Would love to smack his face: this asshole has no respect of the sport, the players, the teams and the people who went there to see some great table tennis.
@CorrectionPen He is yelling "Cho!" which basically means "Yes!!". (Literally it derives from "good point", but in usage probably the best translation for Americans is "Yes!!".
Ok....finally I know which rubber and blade uses wang liqin...he uses the Stiga Rosewood NCT V, the hurricane 3 neo national version (blue sponge) on the FH and the provincial version of the tenergy 64 on the BH ;) 100 % SURE!!!
@RandomStuffLookAts In the Videos of the 2011 World Championships you can see that Wang Liqin uses Stiga Rosewood NCT 5 (or NCT 7). Wang Liqin has played the Hurricane King and the special Hurricane 2 but after the speed glue interdict, he uses stiga calibra LT :-D really!! look after the Videos on ITTV :-D
@ReeceLo93 i'm not sure but I think Wang uses Stiga Rosewood NCT 5 and Stiga Calibra LT on both sides. You can see it in the videos of the World Championships in Rotterdam 2011:) I think Joo uses Butterfly Joo Se Hyuk DEF and Tibhar Grass D-Tecs on backhand and Tenergy 64 on forehand...hope I'm correct:)
So I played the Pro versions of Tenergy 05 , 64 of Tibhar Nianmor and Genius and some others, so I heard the sound . Its like a extremely Tuned Sound Rubber^^
you want to tell me that player like Timo Boll or Joo se hyuk use the same rubbers than the standardt player ??^^
You can be right with the feint long but in march Joo used a Grass d.tecs FT
@KingJamal95 I know the properties and the sound of Feint Long 3 and Tenergy 64 I play them...and it seems that these Rubbers in the Video are the same...;D And Christian Süß said that Joo uses a Feint Long 3 ;D
Superb match from both players. Really good forehand defensive attack from for by Joo See Hyuk. Wang should have played the same way all the match where he placed one forehand loop each side.
I am now an attacking player but I'm not really getting the feeling of looping and stuff so I might buy the same stuff as joo and start choppin since barely anyone chops nowaydays in the youtghh competition, they're all focused on spinning and looping but chopping would win
It amazes me how much spin and power they put on the ball. I mean, you see them hitting the ball back and forth (with great skill, don't get me wrong) but when they make a mistake in hitting, the ball goes FLYING. 0.0
Defensive play is definitely less efficient, but it's so fun to watch and if you can do it fun to play. I attempt to play like this. I'm a better two wing attacker but I really enjoy the exercise I get doing this. Also at my level it really doesn't matter. It's more difficult to get good at this style but really fun. If I were a junior or cadet though I would attack as much as possible. Attackers tend to win tournaments.
My TT coach often says that against a chopper, the longer the match drags on, the less likey you are to win it. Wan Liqin proved that wrong on this day. I still can't understand what happened in Joo's mind when he had a 4 point advance at 8-4..
Wang fought it back to 8 on, then miraculously finished him off.
Joo was almost World champion a few years ago. He got second place! And since he is a defensive player, its all the more impressive. The only reason defensive players don't win the big titles is because their style is more tiring. They run out of energy. Technically speaking, they could beat any offensive player. Defensive play is just better. They have more weapons. And their funner to watch!
What I love is that these shots have so much spin in them and progressively they get even more. Wang Liqin puts a ton of topspin and Joo uses that and adds his own backspin, spinning the ball even faster in the same direction making for a super spun ball! Awesome match!
I like this matchup. An all-out offense player versus an unpredictable defender that isn't afraid to stick a few topspin wars in. And they're both around the same age (at least it seems like it).
If Joo se Hyuk started out as an attacker I think he might be on par with China's newest generation of TT players (Ma Long, Xu Xin)
@chichon36: better backhand spin is almost impossible becaus he plays with long(?) pipes on his backhand. it's possible to topspin then but very difficult . if he wants to block liqin's topspin you can also see that he also turns his bat otherwise the ball would almost always be in the net.and if he wants to topspin with his backhand he would always turn is bat so he would be to late to topspin.
all by all i can't get enough of this match! very nice match by both players!
@sammyd1993 "Cho" is the corruption of the Mandarin pronounciation for the Chinese world "Chiu", which means "Ball." Actually, "Chiu" is a contraction of the phrace "How Chiu" which means "Good Ball." So, "how chiu" ("good ball" became just "chiu" and from there got thoroughly corrupted to "cho". It's not unlike "God be with you" being corrupted to just "good bye" and we all forgot the origin.
@ 1:40 I would havd stopped the game and waited until the guy that screamed would had shown up just to give him the red card and get the hell out of the room
I don't see why everyone is so giddy about Joo. Wang played better and pulled through those pressure moments. In the last game, Joo was up four points and still couldn't win. Joo's style is fundamentally flawed. He gives up the initiative on purpose. To win you have to attack. You need to set the pace. Not follow in the rhthym of your opponent. If China is to have a real ping pong opponent, they need a player who can attack.
@ChessArmyCommander Keep in mind Waldner was primarily offensive. Waldner could play defense when neccessary but was a strong attacker. And don't sell Wang short. Wang has pulled some crazy points in his prime as well.
@ChessArmyCommander That's a really tough call. The game is different. Wang Liqin has been called the complete player, while waldner is the smartest player. I think WLQ's game has fewer weaknesses, and WLQ also has a BIG physical and athletic advantage, but Waldner is a smarter player than anyone. Idk, prime to prime I think I'd give it to WLQ with either the 40 or 38mm ball. If waldner is besting WLQ, it's with a 38mm ball only. 40mm and post glue ban, prime to prime WLQ all the way.
no doubt he is a good chopper..his forehand counter far from the table awesome chops and backhand drive near the table whilst attacking make him one of the most decorated chopper =)
his drives are what make him so good because drop shot does not work against him. watch him in WC 2003. Drop shots do not work because he is so strong on his forehand

this block of joo se hyuk in 3:10 is really amazing!
he turns his attacking side (the red one) on his backhand, only for this time to block it near the table. Awesome!

@1994Jett yea i like his way of play, it doesnt make him seem like much of a defensive player, more like an all round player

@1994Jett Should I get a table tennis Schildkrot Waldner 600 Table Tennis Bat
or a Butterfly Timo Boll 500 Bat?

@98nfsmw98 It depends really, but I would choose the Schildkrot Waldner 600 Table Tennis Bat.
