and mercury had the nerve to remake the capri and make it look like some b.s. 2 door chicks car that came in a convertible? how could u screw that up? you'll never get better than this!

twas the sister car of the fox chassis mustang. Tis a pity Mercury changed the Capri into something far from beautiful (or powerful for that matter) after '86.

@NotYour94Ranger Well, it was the Mercury counterpart of the Mustang until 1987 when the Aero Fox Chassis Mustang come into the market. Ergo, they shared similar body design, only a different tailight ass. and front end ('84+). Perhaps the Probe proposition (FWD Mustang) made Mercury engage in a similar project, which would make sense because of the shitty design and the fact that the Capri became FWD. A short lived legend it is, the Capri; cherished by many who are fortuned enough to own one.

@HPG45 This generation of Mercury Capri - yes .... the name Mercury Capri - nooo ... before this one, Mercury Capri was a name of an european version of Ford Capri - made in UK or Germany from 68 till 87 ... imported to US market in 70-77 . They were powered by 1.6 , 2.0 (only first years) & 2.3 4 cyl (known from Mustang II) or 2.6 / 2.8 V6 on US market. It was a nice small car , rear wheel drive but took too much customers from Mustang, so they killed it in 79 when foxbody Stang came ...

wow i have the smokygrey that im restoring and the guy that had it before me didn't know it was a mclaren. were can i find the number for mine
