Great Video as usual from Gavin. But I'm using a mac book pro and Holding alt and typing 0169 does not work for me !! How do I get the copyright symbol to pop up ?? Please help ......
It is fixed by merging the layers and removing the option to keep the photoshop functionality when saving the image. Also the image is very cropped from RAW-size which gives you a very low-quality photo.
Thanks so much for this tutorial, Gavin. I've been looking on Youtube for something like this and stumbled upon your tutorials today just as I was going to give up. excellent uploads - Thanks again!!
Hi Gavin, thanks for the best PS Tutorials out there - really well paced and informative. Regarding WATERMARKING - is there a simple way of changing it's colour when you bring it back as a saved action......
Nice tutorial, Gavin is easy to understand, goes at a good pace and has good presentation. However, since this action is quite specific (reduce image and apply WM) I would be more apt to give it a more descriptive name. That way you can create other WM actions for different intended uses. I would also suggest that if you follow along with the tutorial take the time to pause it and experiment on your own with other fonts, sizes and other blending options and learn what the different effects are.
For all the people not being able to make the copyright symbol appear with the Alt + 0169 thingy, remember: you HAVE to use the numberpad on the right of the keyboard to insert the numbers 0169, typing the regular number keys on the top row of the keyboard won't work. also remember to have your Num Lock key ON. Hope this helps!
hey everyone . Need some help here, im using cs5 and I don't have a problem making the copyright symbol from the custom tool but when i play the action it says " The object style shape 1 is not currently available" so even if i click continue my watermark doesn't continue . plz reply to my inbox if anyone knows what to do .HELP!
Any idea why this is happening and what can i do to solve this?
wait so thats all you have to do so people dont steal your photography?, so when you sell your photography do you take off the water mark? i dont get it
@PocketsGotBigMoney people can still steal your photography, even though it will have your watermark. since you arent a big company, you probably wont be able to take them to court. and you should make a copy with and without a watermark if someone buys your work
@PocketsGotBigMoney It's expsive to sue for someone stealing your work, that's why you should always watermark the images you post online to prevent someone from stealing your artwork.
@PocketsGotBigMoney If you sell your photos depending on what agreement you make with someone (usually you make a written agreement) you would remove the watermark and sell the photo (but normally when you watermark an image it is for displaying online, you would keep the original separately on your hard drive), but unless you sign over your rights to the person you are giving it to, you will still own the copyright.
Fantastic tutorial - only problem I find is that when I go to use this action on another photo(s) - it seems to resize the copyright and sometimes it is much too small. Is there a way to lock the proportions of the text layer so it is always the same size on each photo?
Gavin Hoey u r the best!!!!!! I have been having trouble with a client who's try to get free pix and this solution has made me look better to my client while still protecting my hard work. I also flattened the image at the end so they can take it into there photoshop and remove the watermark layer. Thank you again, Mark.
I'm trying to follow your step by step tutorials but when i'm making the copyright on alt +0169 it doesent show the copyright on the screen bit strange...
This did not work for me! I could not place the action I created on another picture!? I get this error message
"The object “previous history state” is not currently available." is there another way to save the watermark as a brush? I am not familiar with PS much at all and I know how to do that in gimp, but now need to learn how to do this in PS! I am currently working with CS5, if that makes a difference? Thanks for any advise you may be able to give me!
This tutorial was great! Of course on my computer it never duplicates anything just like it is in the tutorial. I did EVERYTHING just like you said and went great. I exited the pic out, brought up new pic, hit the watermark button and play and it just keeps bringing up the pic I just did on top of the new pic and does nothing to the new pic. Just reverts back to the previous one. What am I doing wrong?
Hello Gavin.. am Using Del studio 15 laptop. i am unable to bring copyright symbol as my key board doesn't have numeric keypad. Can you help me bringing that alt+ 0169 symbol.. or can some one reply to it plz
Thanks Gavin for the great tutorial. Question ... If I have a file of 100 images is there a way to automatically add the water mark to all the images OR do I have to open up each one and select Actions and Play button?
Outstanding tutorial! I was actually able to create a watermark (FINALLY!) and since it's now an action, I can easily repeat on any picture. Thanks so much Gavin!!!
A couple of tips for some steps that stumped me in case they can help others:
1) The only way I was able to get a copyright symbol on my Mac in CS4 was by clicking the Option key with the G key.
2) To change the opacity in CS4 you can find the fill slider in Layer>Layer Style> Blending Options. Thanks again! SusansWorldAdventures
