Oh, and before ya'll go off accusing me of being fat--no, I'm not. I actually just recently recovered from an eating disorder, and I can tell you--wholeheartedly--that these depictions of women definitely contribute to dwindling self-esteem and the ever-skyrocketing rates of eating disorders. Do you honestly believe that women's bodies magically allocate fat tissue to "desirable" areas (ie. breasts and butts?). NO. That's not how it works, peeps. Go educate yourselves before spewing nonsense.

Are you guys seriously giving her shit about this video? I know people who model and I can tell you right now--not ONLY do these modeling agencies/institutions discourage eating like normal beings, but at least 95-99.99% of these images are indeed airbrushed and photo shopped. You guys are seriously fucked up--and don't give me shit about men having to succumb to these same standards (men's magazines are geared towards men's health and fitness, whereas women's are geared towards pleasing men).
Do you think its just a coincidence that most of the models are 5'8" or above? Do they also stretch themselves aswell as starve? NO ... its a build, just like somebody naturally cuvry, people can be naturally tall and skinny. Get over it.
And if anyone thinks you're too heavy, they must surely like ten year old boys. Only real men like women with curves. Not to mention, many models are chosen by GAY men.
our obsession with being thin in this country is out of control . They try to convince you that thin=healthy and thin=beautiful and its just not true . It is perfetly healthy to be whatever size you are naturally , rather your a size 2 or 22 , you can be healthy at any size as long as you are taking care of youself and beauty , def. come in MANY sizes !!
You need to keep in mind that some people are naturally thin. Im a size 2 and people constantly bash me that Im so thin and i need to gain weight. Truth is my body maintains me to be thin, I can't help it and watching a video like this where this lady doesn't give a fuck. Just talking how the models are to thin and that it can't be natural is bullshit. So she's basically saying im not natural. Im sick of America, Im shipping my ass to Japan
@ImJustCommenting She is not complaining about naturally thin people. She is just ranting about how our society say anorexic thin=beautiful, which is very true. You have seen catwalk models before, and some of them are skeletal. In fact, my friends have the most perfect body, but they keep complaining they are fat when they are just thin in the normal weight category. I am not fat either, with a bmi of 17, size 0-2, but everytime I see someone thinner than me, I get all envious.
@viczhou11 I understand that but I hate the mentality that ALL skinny people have an issue. Your BMI is 17 mines run between 18.3-18.6 and I get the ur soo skinny comments. It doesn't matter because all skinny people are lumped into the category of being too skinny just because they are slim. Where I live (NY) we both are too skinny and would be compared equally to those with a BMI of 16. People can't tell the difference.
Yeah, I agree with you. We are just the lucky naturally thin people in this world, but I still think there is still societal issue in which people just want to skinny regardless they are healthy, fat, or not. People just are not happy with their own weight.
To be honest, I wish I was thinner, but the only thing that hinder me is I know people with anorexia and it's horrible.
i get what this is meaning to be about, like backing people who arent all skinny and perfect.. but do you realise.. you are doing exactly what happens to them.. pointing at the models in the magazine and critizing the way they look.. that is exactly the same feeling that fat or thin people get.. its sort of hyporcritical..
If you're fat then I'm queen of the world.lol.These people know nothing of true beauty. All they see is a mask and are brainwashed into thinking it's more special than a real person. You'd have to be a real idiot to believe what the media says you should look like.lol.What a fantasy world they must live in*sigh*As they say, ignorance is bliss;)
What I'm saying is that some people are so vain they value their looks (and others' appearance as well)more than they value what really matters in life.Making them as fake as manequins in the wondow. They'd rather die of cancer from too much hair coloring than appreciate what they have.See where I'm going with this Mrlantern23?
The models being "commented" on here aren't ALL "anorexic" - some are simply slender but still attractive. Furthermore, this girl clearly has insecurity "issues"...if she dropped say 7lbs (which wouldn't do her any harm) I doubt she would be in a hurry to regain the weight, lol!! She's a hypocrite who's jumping on the bandwaggon... lol!
I'd like to say Bravo and Bravo again. I've spoken to other girls about this and it constantly shocks me to see their (lack of) reaction to the whole thing. Our society is numb to the unhealthiness of models, the terrible effect and the terrible effect it has on teens. There is even a name coined for this: Thinspiration. Disgusting, right? As well, sexuality is no longer special or mysterious at all because we're flooded with it; Seeing it everywhere in the media destroys the beauty of it.
hey, i'm actually a guy. Good job with the video but i'm actually doing natural bodybuilding (: btw that first model you showed when you asked whtat guys thought of her. I thougght she was mad ugly. especially since she was too skinny and had nothing to look at. Btw your hot lolol I thought the girl on the front cover looked like you lolol
I kind of agree with what you say, But the way you go about saying it makes me want to disagree. :/ Its very immature and redundant.
I disagree with the sex part at the end too. They cant control what they are told to wear at a shoot.
And a man can treat you like meat irregardless of what you wear. High waist Jeans and a sweater that covers you entirely, not revealing anything, or a skimpy little dress/Long shirt. If they like what they see and want some, What you wear doesnt matter.
I think you're absolutely right and it's great that you discuss such a crucial topic. It's a shame that other people commenting on this video are so ignorant. I also think you're very beautiful and the people commenting and calling you fat should be ashamed of themselves.
Well she's commenting that these harmless models who have done NOTHING to her are unattractive and slutty. She should expect some nasty comments about her appearance in return.
Man you get some jerks commenting on your video's! I think you are right with everything you are saying and that you yourself are very pretty. I think the problem with society today is that we can't accept more than a few different types of "beautiful" but the truth is that every girl is lovely in her own way, you know. It's so sad. Magazines shouldn't be allowed to photoshio or use so much make-up. It's unfair on real girls, we can't live up to those expectations. No-one can!

rofl. when you pointed to the girl in the red dress and said "no one wants to see that". what the hell would they put that in the magazine then? you think they want to see some "real" woman like you? get real.
Sorry, last 1 was piggish, I'm used 2 speaking like that cuz I was raised mostly by males growing up. They will use physically pretty women over 1s who R ugly on the outside, no matter WHAT they look like inside, I find nothing wrong with that: FACT: physically attractive women ARE more appealing, as would be attractive men...period. By using words like "thinness" and "perfection" interchangeably in your rant, you SUPPORT the thinness=beauty theory. I would find nothing wrong with (cont.)
the agencies turning down the fattest 30%. The problem is they turn down the fattest 99.999% and are left with disgusting (OPPOSITE of perfect) anorexics. They need to focus on what is naturally attractive, and yes, I DO mean physically. Such as curves, grace, sexy attitude as well counts for something. Hardly any men I know are into this severe skinniness, it's all women running this, remember that. Women suit their appearence to "look good for themselves" usuly, so it's noone else's fault.
hot video! my names Megan, kinda feelin bored if any1 wants to join me on cam or wana chat i will be signed on at __ FriendlyFlirts(.COM) __ my user ID there is Megan_jbyvejn chat soon xx its FR33 to j0in! mwah
I didn't even say anything ABOUT a sexy media campaign or whatever that phrase was you used. I'm not part of the problem, I'm a democrat you dumass! Shut the fuck up if you don't even know me, I believe prostitution should be legal, you just bitched me out for being the OPPOSITE of what I am.
I just wish they COULD have some more "sexiness". Like nice big breasts, cushy ass, you know, what most men are into. I don't really think women are "objects", but I find no fault in admiring a sexy woman. And what we need is MORE sexiness, because nothing kills your buzz like tryin to jack off to an orange-skinned skeleton with her face pulled over her skull.
whats the point of even making a video like this? i mean, its obvious that youre going to get attacked by it, and... its just pointless. this video isnt HELPING anyone thats for sure.
And also, your criticism of a sexually powered advertising industry just makes you look either like a bible belter or a ignored virgin. This is America, baby, you shouldn't have to be modest, but if you do believe in it that much you would probably enjoy a nice abaya and a plane ticket to Pakistan. My evaluation of your personality: you need attention, sexual or otherwise, that you clearly are not getting.
First of all, you sir are terrible ranter. Second of all, girls that push themselves that far because of runway models have issues either way, an ad in the magazine won't create problems, although it may reinforce them. It's you and the people around you that create image issues, whether it is guys not paying attention to you or girls candidly making fun of you. Blaming the media is a cop out, and anyone who tries to emulate models is mentally challenged in the first place.
What I don't get is how come when every they DO have a modeling agency that has women who aren't skinny, THAN they have to be "plus sized" and have 300 pound women. It's like a giant conspiracy. 90% of them are all skinny and the other 10% are all fat. I hope it will always affect the "preppy" people the most who should starve themselves, tan themselves orange, inject their own faces over their sulls, and after a hundred year's they'll be born like that. than the poor people will revolt.
Does your problem with this have to do with thinness or with the fact that you don't have the personality to accept your body and show it as if you were as thin as those girls?...
I usually agree with this kind of videos, but yours doesn't convince me. 1/3 of the Runway models have a serious problem with food, you can see it easily (for example, tiuu and snejana..) but some of the editorial girls you showed were absolutely healthy and hella sexy. What's the problem with it?
In my opinion the eternally-plummeting waistlines of models are altering visions of beauty in our culture to unrealistic expectations.
When we're constantly fed images of waifs and corpses walking the runway, many women bear the notion that to be beautiful, one must be thin. And many times, dangerously so.
Again, this is your personal, biased put unbased, attempt at stating generalized "facts" that are actually just your feelings. The thing is it is easier and more common to be fat, which is why we put leaner people on a pedastal, because they seem more extraordinary. Twigs aren't healthy, but neither are obese people, obesity leads to a large number of diseases and generally results in early death. You have to admit, its just as unhealthy to be overweight as it is to be underweight.
So I think more women should know about the risks of smoking that not only does it cause cancer but if it destroys your thyroid (like it did mine) you could end up losing your hair, gaining weight, losing your sex drive, fighting depression, developing dry skin, and becoming obese.
Not to mention that if left untreated (like I did) you could end up with sleep apnea and that kills.
I barely have any energy because of it and worse of all no diet will ever make me thin again.
Being very thin used to be a high priority of mine so to stay that way I smoked about a pack and a half of cigaretes a day and as a result from doing that I ended up with severe thyroid disease (Hypothroidism) they call it which was caused by the smoke passing through my thyriod which is located in the throat.
Within 3 months of contracting the disease I'd gained 100 pounds then a month later I gained 20 more and my doctor says I'll never be able to lose it no matter what I do.
i am a model, i am healthy, i am thin. im not sick, i am beautiful, and so are you. i have nice skin and hair, i am intelligent. THis is who i am!! i take care of myself!!!!!! I have friends, over all i am a normal person, i dont smoke, i eat, i wear cute clothes, i walk the runway, i am happy and healthy!!!! If you dont believe me, then maybe you should become more open minded.
how old are you? your already ranting about covering up!I think the whole sex thing, its because sex sells, because most normal people have hormones(i'm a girl btw) Most girls are flattered when they get hit on, just depends by which guys, thats all. Nd short skirt thing, they are trying to make other woman jealous, its the whole competition thing. but its bad to be too skinny, people should be happy with how they are normally. but i mean you wouldn't shout at a cheetah for being their size.
Nobody looks like that? I know tons of people who look amazing, they have a fast metabolism and they can eat and stay amazingly thin. It's just part of who they are.
Finally, the last part where you're like "look at that". Well, what if they were advertising waxing or tanning, or something...geez?
Sometimes you have to ask yourself. Would people look at advertisements all the time if something didn't attract them? I guess if you'd like to make the world more modest you're a few decades late. Society changes and so do ideals. We've all just got to accept it.
Well, you know, regarding that. What /is/ the ideal then? You're saying "we're not supposed to be that skinny", well, "we're not supposed to look obese" - anyone can say that as well.
As long as we're healthy it's all that matters. And that whole "cover up" thing? Haven't you used makeup before?
Some models are naturally skinny and we can't forget that. And that airbrush thing? Do you think we want to look at magazine covers with people with ten zits and scars everywhere? I mean, even a long time ago I think that women/men on magazine covers had worn makeup to hide their flaws. Now there's airbrushing so less makeup would be used? That's just my opinion/question that may not be necessarily true. Nowadays people are into being healthy. If people are healthy the way they are, so be it.
Don't be stupid, nobody wants to see a fat person walking in a Chanel runway show, or a Dolce and Gabbana ad blown up with a fat person posing have naked, or a Chopard Ad in a magazine with a person that has acne on their face with pimples as big as yours NODY WOULD BUY THE MERCH. Don't hate appreciate. And if you want to see skinny models go look at Elle magazine. Not Vogue or Teen Vogue. If you really want to do something about it get up and do it, by the way its called pro-active
@1600s no people were designed to be shallow minded assholes who are obsessed with thinness and looking fake. Hun, Beauty comes in all different shapes and sizes.
I loved your video iluvminirexes. I loved how you explained our society's obsession with thinness. Great rant I really liked it a lot. :)
i don`t think that those models you complain about are gonna take you as an ideal.therefore, let it go and stay plump, prude and happy....p.s. sitting in your room, whining about models doesn`t exude sexiness either, but then again "beauty" is in the eye of the beholder, so you might want to pay a visit to your nutritionist and dermatologist...
I wonder if anyone has noticed that she is merely speaking her mind and not trying to influence anyone to take anything the wrong way. Some models are naturally beautiful and some are worked on in photoshop for hours, even look it up on YouTube and you'll find it. Like all of your comments and thoughts she is only thinking of what she thinks. :)
skinny is beautiful. thats why they have skinny models in fashion magazines. you fat ugly pale person. i bet deep down you would like to be thin and tan. who wouldn't.
Must we all wear plain white button down shirts and hide our protruding collar bones in shame? Have you seen model polaroids (untouched candids of models with no makeup)? Seriously, go to a major agency website and look. MOST not all are 9s or 10naturally. Anyways I don't know what "fashion" mag you're looking at here but that stuff you pointed out as racy is so tame it's laughable. Go pick up a couple obscure or even foreign fashion mags (NOT VOGUE). I would LOVE to see your reaction.

Yeah, it's great to workout and eat right, but the girls you're talking about are obsessed with it 24/7 everyday. There's other things to worry about after the morning routine, okay. Like WORK! keep a roof over your head! And about other people (not being selfish). Yeah, I workout everyday and eat good, but during the rest of the day I have a real life to worry about more...thanks...
I liked this video. She makes a good point too. All the models you see in magazines (even Playboy) are airbrushed. Even the models in Playboy are (the ones with implants had the surgical scars airbrushed out)...Like you didn't know!! Your dream girl in real life as Frankenstein boobs.
lol, poor ugly girl feeling the need to make fun of perfectly natural women who have a job as models. stop criticizing, it's rude and doesn't make you any more attractive.
Yeah I just read my opening ...makes no sence...Yeah but you are not dissing the thin side you are like...get health and celebrate other bodies and dare I say it Races...Is the North American Media Anti Middle Eastern Models..notice how they are not in the scene unless it's Bollywood Miss Universe Hottie 1999. And everyone is into being healthy and vegan and stuff..and again they show the skinnest girls in Lulu Lemons...Remember Bettie Page..or even the curves on 1992's PLaymates the Barbi Twins
sigh. it's always the bigger people trying to put down the smaller people these days. and sometimes it's the other way around. how about we all just get over the fact that we're different, and HEY fashion likes slender, beautiful people? it's no surprise. the day there is a fat, unattractive person on the runway is the day we should all be scared.
i like short skirts! don't know if im inflooded by the media, but yes.
and i think thin is beautyful, but the most important is to feel good about your body. If you need to loose a vew pound to feel good so do it. But don't worry about youre weight. Look just that youre body is confortable!
The thing is, I don't think that it is just models that affect the way we see ourselves. We see beautiful people everyday, our friends, strangers on the streets. They're not airbrushed. They are beautiful. This can also affect your self image.
the fashion industry and the rich hollywood people who like such artificiality are really the ones shooving this bad concept of beauty into our throats. i mean what kind of a man willeven have an erection looking at a person who's supposed to be a woman, but with no ass, no hips, small tits? freaks
Well it might be true that models are too thin, but my inspiration comes generally from women I know in person who are thin. You have to learn that models don't really look like that. I can make myself look in a photograph like I'll never look in real life.
True and sad, modesty seems to be far far away from us as a culture.
This video and execution is horrible. I know you were trying to speak against 'unnatural' thinness by reading your comments but by just watching your video you're attacking every skinny girl and some of your comments and conclusions make you sound very unintelligent. I suggest next time you make a video on such a sensitive issue you think about it a bit more, do some research and be VERY specific with what you say, such as UNNATURAL thinness and not just thinness.
I think I'm a little mad at you for saying all models are unhealthy because that isn't true at all. My mother's 6'1 and she's 72 kilos. She's naturally thin and I guess you're right in some stage though. Those models look like hags... But The Collarbone shows on ALOT of people and it's natural.
This is the best video!!! COVER UP! I am a very modest girl...and I wish clothes could be CLOTHES again...even the prostitues back in Jesus' time didnt even dress as slutty as some women do today
this is a good video. theres just one thng that bugs me, in your next video when you say people arnt supposed to be so thin, i think u should change that. because its also natural to be thin just like it is to be curvy, and i think society these days seems to be done mocking the overweight, and into mocking the thin people. both are alright. and i know in an earlier comment u said u meant just unnatural thinness, but just maybe in ut next vid u could clear that up
i agree with everything you said. words of wisdom. i myself am fed up with the stupidity and fake views of modern society. my gf is the more natural curvy type. she cant stand not having a flat stomach. i told her " as long as you have a uterus you will not have a flat stomach. models are airbrushed. and yes modesty is good. keep that napkin clothing in the bedroom. where it belongs. final question. since when did looking like a 10 year old boy become sexy?
Mh.. yeah girls show alot in magazines. Have you seen male fashion magazines? ^_^ oh yeah... same thing. But I guess it looks worse when girls do it? Well, that's not very fair, now is it?
don't hate. were not sitting here like "you're chubby." "your shirt is ugly, youre not supposed to wear that" "youre not even beautiful" i agree with the previous poster... we should make a video of all the chubsters and how nobody wants to look at them. lame video.. you sound so bitter.
hey, some people have said stuff like that... read the comments.
well, i'll agree that this isn't my best work. however, i'm not really a vblogger, i'm a director of sorts. i hope you'll look at some of my more recent videos.... maybe you won't find them so lame :)
So despite the fact I eat well and I don't smoke... the fact I have profound clavicles and a thin frame means I'm unhealthy huh? It means I'm "unnatural" and "too thin" and it's "not how a girl should look"? You're more narrowminded than the mindset you're attacking. Oh and as a photo major-- Models are very minimally airbrushed. They're expected to have flawless skin and good quality hair.
SOME models are minimally airbrushed. i watch ANTM. :)
i'm not saying you're unhealthy for being thin! (i feel like i've written this comment ten thousand times now) you're only unhealthy if you're UNNATURALLY thin. if you're naturally thin, good for you! you're blessed! i have problems with people who abuse themselves to get thin.
sorry to leave another comment but i'd just like to add, and this is something i've experience many times in my life (being naturally thin)..saying someone is skinny or too thin is the exact same thing as calling someone fat. I hate when people say whoa youre so skinny or do you ever eat???! You don't walk around calling people fat slobs so to whoever reads this, think twice before saying something. words hurt.
i dunno i think thin, tight bodies are sexy. and people need to worry about the health of their own damn selves instead of pointing fingers at other people.
Models wouldn't be models if they blended in with the crowd. Skinny girls being used for fashion is nothing new and not all of them are unhealthy, I don't understand how people are prepared to point the finger at them when their job has been around for a long time whilst obese people popping up everywhere hasn't. The fashion industry isn't going to evolve because insecure individuals want to bitch about the people involved, and if you don't agree then please carry on with your fruitless whining.
I liked it she's just chillin but she obviously knows what the hell is up if you don't agree with her well it's your loss. I have the intelligence to give these things all of these exact same thoughts about our American suiciety!!. Everyone needs to think about this and wake the hell on up already.
i agree wif danzigsdaughter . models dnt mke people diet comments frm people diet. If we had obease models every1 wuld apparently put on wieght but people no wots right or wrong. is it actually wrong 2 b skinny or thin? no its not as lng as ur healthy nd safe bowt it
this is stupid. who cares if it's fake, would you buy a magazine with an ugly fat girl on the front? I don't think so. These models are giving their health and freedom up for this Job, they're supposed to be skinny. Their not saying your supposed to look like that, oh this video is making me so angry. Teen girls don't think they have to
She's right in many ways though, young girls go crazy cause of those magazines but I don't like how she criticized. Still, curvy is much sexier!!!! :D cruvy girls like me :D
i'm a big advocate of "healthy weight", whatever that may be for you. what i'm against is the societal pressure to be UNHEALTHILY thin when that's not the weight you are meant to be. that's all i'm trying to say.
I just want you to know that what you said about skinny girls could have the same effect on girls that you are ranting about. It really hurt my feelings. I'm not mad, I just think a lot of people don't realize how much these things hurt. Just because I'm skinny doesn't mean those magazines don't make me feel horrible too...
wow, all i can say is i'm so sorry you're hurt by anything i said. i will repeat what i said in previous comments, that is, whatever your weight is when you are healthy and eating well/exercising is the way you ought to be. If you are thin, great! believe me, there are people out there who would die (and are killing themseleves!) to be "cursed" with being too thin. i'm sorry people make you feel badly about being too thin.
but I hope you understand that how the media makes you (and me) feel about your appearance and not being good enough... is exactly how you and many other people make me feel on a constant basis. "Ew, you need to eat." EW? Am I some sort of robot? That makes me feel absolutely worthless. IT's not just images for me. People have no problem telling me I look Disgusting. I would do anything to shed this curse.
It's unfair and hurtful and believe it or not I cry myself to sleep wishing I could be more like you, so before you start saying hurtful things about "skinny, boney" girls, realize that it is natural... its natural to be big or small. I understand your rant FULLY...
The only obsession our society has with being really thin is making people who are not "real women" with curves, big asses and breasts feel ugly and undesirable. "SCARY SKINNY"! I am naturally very thin and have been ridiculed my entire life. And I'm sick of people making me like I'm not a real women and assuming I starve myself (Which I DON'T). What makes it ok to reverse the hate? So now it's not ok to be skinny either?
You have to dig deeper with many of the models being skinny. Many of them are foreign models and grew up in poor families and maybe grew up with an unhealthy diet which causes poor growth. People need to learn to accept themselves and others and the world would be a better place.
Different people find different things beautiful. That is the wonder of every human being being unique! You shouldn't let other people fill your heart with hate, because that gives them power over you and makes you the weak person. I think that there is horrible discrimination against skinny people. In this obese America where the majority of people are overweight they stress on the skinny people for being skinny.
Why is it a bad thing to be beatiful. I also sometimes get mad about airbrush but it is just because I want to look like them. I think your angry that your overweight. and its fine to be fat but its bad to be mean.
actually.... i'm not overweight. my bmi is healthy. however, this light and the clothes and the angle i chose are, at best, unflattering... should have thought about that.
Im gonna tell u a secret:Pin the video i made befor i was sitting in lighting so u couldnt see the bad parts of my face.after wacthing this im going to make a video of the real me ok;]
okay, i agree with the airbrush thing because it is a bit rediculas. but you shoudlnt say that its wrong to be thin. I'm a very skinny person but i'm happy being that way and i hate people telling me that i have to put on weight because i'm too skinny because i know i wouldnt be happy if i did
Why is it wrong to tell fat people to loose weight, but its okay for a skinny girl to be plauged to gain weight?
i don't think it's wrong to be thin if you're naturally thin... it's just society pressuring everyone to look thin that i'm against. the key is HEALTHY WEIGHT. that's different for each of us!
Society's obsession with thinness is that slender women are more beautiful. Model's are tall and thin because that type shows clothes to advantage, which is why they are FASHION models, they show fashion. You need to work on your own self esteem, put down the magazines, and find something to feel good about. Leave the beatiful images alone if you don't like them.
As a media student at University I know how much crap a photograph has a to go through before it is put in a glossy magazine, for a start they have great lighting that hides the dodgy parts! The rest, as you say, is photoshopped. I am only 18 and I know the pressures of the media to be thin, let's just say I have a boyfriend that keeps my feet on the ground!
i love the rant the whole airbrushing thing is getting really ridiculous girls dont even get recognized for there personalities and there originality or creativity its all come down to are you pretty or not its so dumb!
If women are feeling bad about themselves because of what they see on T.V and in magazines then they need to work on their self esteem. Telling someone they look disgustingly skinny and boney is just as bad as calling someone fat. Heavy people get ALL the support in the world because it's more common. But I agree with this video partially. Photoshopped pretty/skinny is just wrong! It's fake and dishonest.
while it's true that self esteem is an important thing to have, it's hard to get when much of the media says you must be thin and perfectly made up to be beautiful. i think we need to help overweight people lose weight (it's unhealthy as well as unattractive), but we also need to support the idea of a healthy weight (which is different for everyone).
I love what people like Oprah are doing; the idea of healthy weight IS getting into our media, and I'm encouraged. Thanks for the comment and agreement. :)
I agree.I use photoshop professionaly and now I look to a picture and I can see the face behind the digital layers. All of them doesn't look stunning... regular girls..some of them look cute with make up... And what you see in the mags are digital dolls.
That women have professional make up on them, perfect hairstyle and are completely retouched with the photoshop.I been with some pictures on my hands of models before retoching and my god, they dont look cute at all with all the make up...Is scary...Sometimes they even put a bit curvy the models in the pictures cos they are so damn thin...
Even though the world is healthier than ever (I'm not kidding - the news is lying to you), there are still people like this. Still dreadfully skinny models. Why?
i like the way you set ur message across..and they are all fake..and sex is just to much..and yes she does look like a hoe..but thats life...it aint gonna get any better... ppl will be ppl...and some models do look like that....but they do smoke..like every other american..so the human condition makes you angry... who cares...suk it up its only gonna get worse..its getting worse as we speak...the end.
It's a so-called 'fashion' magazine yet, you're so right, the images are salacious... They send a bad message out that females should be overtly sexual in the way they dress. Not good, & it only attracts bad attention that would make that woman feel uncomfortable, and lower her self-respect(perhaps without her even knowing it).
What do guys thnik when they see that blonde leaning on the car? I was thinking, "Isn't that a Dodge Charger sedan?" Seriously. I was wodnering about the car! :-D
and also.... you are the epitome of a bad woman.. how dare you judge anyone on what they look like.. you should be ashamed of yourself.. damn you are A "BAD EXAMPLE" to use ur lame words..
Wow. You are 1. going against what you just said and 2. not seeing the point of the video. She's not making fun of the girls for how they look. She's saying that the media is too harsh and focused on sexuality and thinness. You need to stop being so mean and work out whatever issue you have.
actually you still do NOT get it. She is mocking all that is different from her. Its lame and very obvious. If you want to BLAME the media for all the diseases of the world, go right on ahead. But dont assume to know I have issues when you obvious do what you enjoy doing best: whining and blaming the media for making you UGLY.
alright... sooo... you don't think that the culture that the world has right now, editing models to make them look thinner and taller than they are and airbrushing to make them perfect has any sort of negative effect? you don't think that there are some people that think that they should look like the models in magazines? anorexia and various other problems that arise from wanting to be perfect are not things that make you ugly, it's not whining, it's a disease. a mental disease.
ur a dumb dumb person.. actually... why do you respond if you do not make any sense at all. she is being a hater, and its pathethic and very very sad. .
you on the other hand, must be over 200 pounds to be this BITTER...
She was sitting down all the time, that posture does not seem like a good enough example to "judge" people, to use your even lamer, and what's more, pointless words.
To iluvminirexes, this was a really good video, it must have opened a lot of people's eyes, tht's why there are so many hate comments =]]
You people are not seeying this from the right point of view. Beautiful isn't boobs, being a twig or a skirt as high as the bottom of your arse. I'ts what you truly are. I agree with how you said "If you don't want to be treated like a steak, Don't dress like one." You have got so much point in that video and ignore all the negatives people post up. Good work.
Some models are just naturally skinny. I have a friend that's going into the modeling industry, and she can eat all she wants and never gains a pound. I'm kind of the same way too. So they may not always be starving themselves.

BRIANNAistalksick 10 months ago

AngelBones84 1 year ago
You need to keep in mind that some people are naturally thin. Im a size 2 and people constantly bash me that Im so thin and i need to gain weight. Truth is my body maintains me to be thin, I can't help it and watching a video like this where this lady doesn't give a fuck. Just talking how the models are to thin and that it can't be natural is bullshit. So she's basically saying im not natural. Im sick of America, Im shipping my ass to Japan
ImJustCommenting 1 year ago
@ImJustCommenting She is not complaining about naturally thin people. She is just ranting about how our society say anorexic thin=beautiful, which is very true. You have seen catwalk models before, and some of them are skeletal. In fact, my friends have the most perfect body, but they keep complaining they are fat when they are just thin in the normal weight category. I am not fat either, with a bmi of 17, size 0-2, but everytime I see someone thinner than me, I get all envious.
viczhou11 6 months ago
@viczhou11 I understand that but I hate the mentality that ALL skinny people have an issue. Your BMI is 17 mines run between 18.3-18.6 and I get the ur soo skinny comments. It doesn't matter because all skinny people are lumped into the category of being too skinny just because they are slim. Where I live (NY) we both are too skinny and would be compared equally to those with a BMI of 16. People can't tell the difference.
ImJustCommenting 6 months ago
@ImJustCommenting
Yeah, I agree with you. We are just the lucky naturally thin people in this world, but I still think there is still societal issue in which people just want to skinny regardless they are healthy, fat, or not. People just are not happy with their own weight.
To be honest, I wish I was thinner, but the only thing that hinder me is I know people with anorexia and it's horrible.
viczhou11 6 months ago
i get what this is meaning to be about, like backing people who arent all skinny and perfect.. but do you realise.. you are doing exactly what happens to them.. pointing at the models in the magazine and critizing the way they look.. that is exactly the same feeling that fat or thin people get.. its sort of hyporcritical..

No-one can!

By using words like "thinness" and "perfection" interchangeably in your rant, you SUPPORT the thinness=beauty theory. I would find nothing wrong with (cont.)
TheJazzyMan1988 3 years ago
the agencies turning down the fattest 30%.

One more thing, you're a naturally good looking girl, but your personality makes you ugly.
TheTimeofNew 3 years ago
And also, your criticism of a sexually powered advertising industry just makes you look either like a bible belter or a ignored virgin. This is America, baby, you shouldn't have to be modest, but if you do believe in it that much you would probably enjoy a nice abaya and a plane ticket to Pakistan. My evaluation of your personality: you need attention, sexual or otherwise, that you clearly are not getting.
TheTimeofNew 3 years ago
First of all, you sir are terrible ranter. Second of all, girls that push themselves that far because of runway models have issues either way, an ad in the magazine won't create problems, although it may reinforce them. It's you and the people around you that create image issues, whether it is guys not paying attention to you or girls candidly making fun of you. Blaming the media is a cop out, and anyone who tries to emulate models is mentally challenged in the first place.
TheTimeofNew 3 years ago 4

CreatureofMasquerade 3 years ago 2
In my opinion the eternally-plummeting waistlines of models are altering visions of beauty in our culture to unrealistic expectations.
When we're constantly fed images of waifs and corpses walking the runway, many women bear the notion that to be beautiful, one must be thin. And many times, dangerously so.
AnimaSeverem 3 years ago
Again, this is your personal, biased put unbased, attempt at stating generalized "facts" that are actually just your feelings. The thing is it is easier and more common to be fat, which is why we put leaner people on a pedastal, because they seem more extraordinary. Twigs aren't healthy, but neither are obese people, obesity leads to a large number of diseases and generally results in early death. You have to admit, its just as unhealthy to be overweight as it is to be underweight.
TheTimeofNew 3 years ago 3
So I think more women should know about the risks of smoking that not only does it cause cancer but if it destroys your thyroid (like it did mine) you could end up losing your hair, gaining weight, losing your sex drive, fighting depression, developing dry skin, and becoming obese.
Not to mention that if left untreated (like I did) you could end up with sleep apnea and that kills.
I barely have any energy because of it and worse of all no diet will ever make me thin again.
Ever.
And that sucks.
Ikiuyrtfglo 3 years ago
It doesn't cause cancer you fool, cancer is caused by mutations in DNA, something that starvation never results in.
TheTimeofNew 3 years ago
she meant the smoking was causeing the cancer.
CelineSaddern 2 years ago
Being very thin used to be a high priority of mine so to stay that way I smoked about a pack and a half of cigaretes a day and as a result from doing that I ended up with severe thyroid disease (Hypothroidism) they call it which was caused by the smoke passing through my thyriod which is located in the throat.
Within 3 months of contracting the disease I'd gained 100 pounds then a month later I gained 20 more and my doctor says I'll never be able to lose it no matter what I do.
Smoking sucks.

Nothing's wrong with clear skin. I can see you don't have any acne. But I'm sure that you would want to make it disappear if you did.
You can see bone? Oh, profound statement. Can you see your toes when you stand up?
Not even beautiful? Oh hun, please don't say that while you're sitting on a floppy bed.
RaiderBunny 3 years ago
Finally, the last part where you're like "look at that". Well, what if they were advertising waxing or tanning, or something...geez?
Sometimes you have to ask yourself. Would people look at advertisements all the time if something didn't attract them? I guess if you'd like to make the world more modest you're a few decades late. Society changes and so do ideals. We've all just got to accept it.
topmodelbaby 3 years ago
Gosh, the "we're not supposed to look like that".
It's not all fake...okay?
Some people really look like that.
And the 'they look unhappy on the runway'.
WELL DUH. They don't always have to smile there.
topmodelbaby 3 years ago
Some models are naturally skinny and we can't forget that. And that airbrush thing? Do you think we want to look at magazine covers with people with ten zits and scars everywhere? I mean, even a long time ago I think that women/men on magazine covers had worn makeup to hide their flaws. Now there's airbrushing so less makeup would be used? That's just my opinion/question that may not be necessarily true. Nowadays people are into being healthy. If people are healthy the way they are, so be it.
topmodelbaby 3 years ago
Don't be stupid, nobody wants to see a fat person walking in a Chanel runway show, or a Dolce and Gabbana ad blown up with a fat person posing have naked, or a Chopard Ad in a magazine with a person that has acne on their face with pimples as big as yours NODY WOULD BUY THE MERCH.

I suggest next time you make a video on such a sensitive issue you think about it a bit more, do some research and be VERY specific with what you say, such as UNNATURAL thinness and not just thinness.

this is a good video. theres just one thng that bugs me, in your next video when you say people arnt supposed to be so thin, i think u should change that. because its also natural to be thin just like it is to be curvy, and i think society these days seems to be done mocking the overweight, and into mocking the thin people. both are alright. and i know in an earlier comment u said u meant just unnatural thinness, but just maybe in ut next vid u could clear that up
iliveandlove 4 years ago
i agree with everything you said. words of wisdom. i myself am fed up with the stupidity and fake views of modern society. my gf is the more natural curvy type. she cant stand not having a flat stomach. i told her " as long as you have a uterus you will not have a flat stomach. models are airbrushed. and yes modesty is good. keep that napkin clothing in the bedroom. where it belongs. final question. since when did looking like a 10 year old boy become sexy?

Mh.. yeah girls show alot in magazines. Have you seen male fashion magazines? ^_^ oh yeah... same thing. But I guess it looks worse when girls do it? Well, that's not very fair, now is it?

ah, you know, i hadn't seen male fashion magazines! good point you made.

the US is so uptight. it's art, it's beauty, it's fashion. not modesty.

don't hate. were not sitting here like "you're chubby." "your shirt is ugly, youre not supposed to wear that" "youre not even beautiful" i agree with the previous poster... we should make a video of all the chubsters and how nobody wants to look at them. lame video.. you sound so bitter.
hollibarker 4 years ago
hey, some people have said stuff like that... read the comments.
well, i'll agree that this isn't my best work. however, i'm not really a vblogger, i'm a director of sorts. i hope you'll look at some of my more recent videos.... maybe you won't find them so lame :)
iluvminirexes 4 years ago
So despite the fact I eat well and I don't smoke... the fact I have profound clavicles and a thin frame means I'm unhealthy huh? It means I'm "unnatural" and "too thin" and it's "not how a girl should look"? You're more narrowminded than the mindset you're attacking. Oh and as a photo major-- Models are very minimally airbrushed. They're expected to have flawless skin and good quality hair.
anthroptics 4 years ago 2
whoa, slow down.
SOME models are minimally airbrushed. i watch ANTM. :)
i'm not saying you're unhealthy for being thin! (i feel like i've written this comment ten thousand times now) you're only unhealthy if you're UNNATURALLY thin. if you're naturally thin, good for you! you're blessed! i have problems with people who abuse themselves to get thin.
iluvminirexes 4 years ago
who's to say these models you point out arn't natural either?
roshylov 4 years ago 3
shut up and lose some weight, god!
deaditefuckgirl 4 years ago
sorry to leave another comment but i'd just like to add, and this is something i've experience many times in my life (being naturally thin)..saying someone is skinny or too thin is the exact same thing as calling someone fat. I hate when people say whoa youre so skinny or do you ever eat???! You don't walk around calling people fat slobs so to whoever reads this, think twice before saying something. words hurt.
fratguy68 4 years ago 4
i dunno i think thin, tight bodies are sexy. and people need to worry about the health of their own damn selves instead of pointing fingers at other people.
fratguy68 4 years ago 3
it's not just the beginning that's bad. Hard to believe it gets worse....
proffromgview 4 years ago
why do people freak out about being thin?
some people find it attractive
why dont we all make videos about the fat asses in our society.
i'd rather be thin than huge
alliafro 4 years ago 6
Models wouldn't be models if they blended in with the crowd. Skinny girls being used for fashion is nothing new and not all of them are unhealthy, I don't understand how people are prepared to point the finger at them when their job has been around for a long time whilst obese people popping up everywhere hasn't. The fashion industry isn't going to evolve because insecure individuals want to bitch about the people involved, and if you don't agree then please carry on with your fruitless whining.

i agree wif danzigsdaughter . models dnt mke people diet comments frm people diet. If we had obease models every1 wuld apparently put on wieght but people no wots right or wrong. is it actually wrong 2 b skinny or thin? no its not as lng as ur healthy nd safe bowt it
bmarleycf 4 years ago 2
look like that, that is NOT where the
pressure comes from. The pressure comes from
their peers, their social rings. YOU'VE GOT
IT ALL SO WRONG! i'm sick of you insecure
people picking on the Models, i don't see
you giving up your life to do that.
get a real life, seriously, and leave
the skinny people alone

She's right in many ways though, young girls go crazy cause of those magazines but I don't like how she criticized. Still, curvy is much sexier!!!! :D cruvy girls like me :D
WhiteManiacs 4 years ago
i'm a big advocate of "healthy weight", whatever that may be for you. what i'm against is the societal pressure to be UNHEALTHILY thin when that's not the weight you are meant to be. that's all i'm trying to say.
iluvminirexes 4 years ago
I just want you to know that what you said about skinny girls could have the same effect on girls that you are ranting about. It really hurt my feelings. I'm not mad, I just think a lot of people don't realize how much these things hurt. Just because I'm skinny doesn't mean those magazines don't make me feel horrible too...
ChelaHarper 4 years ago
wow, all i can say is i'm so sorry you're hurt by anything i said. i will repeat what i said in previous comments, that is, whatever your weight is when you are healthy and eating well/exercising is the way you ought to be. If you are thin, great! believe me, there are people out there who would die (and are killing themseleves!) to be "cursed" with being too thin. i'm sorry people make you feel badly about being too thin.
iluvminirexes 4 years ago
but I hope you understand that how the media makes you (and me) feel about your appearance and not being good enough... is exactly how you and many other people make me feel on a constant basis. "Ew, you need to eat." EW? Am I some sort of robot? That makes me feel absolutely worthless. IT's not just images for me. People have no problem telling me I look Disgusting. I would do anything to shed this curse.
ChelaHarper 4 years ago
It's unfair and hurtful and believe it or not I cry myself to sleep wishing I could be more like you, so before you start saying hurtful things about "skinny, boney" girls, realize that it is natural... its natural to be big or small. I understand your rant FULLY...
ChelaHarper 4 years ago
The only obsession our society has with being really thin is making people who are not "real women" with curves, big asses and breasts feel ugly and undesirable. "SCARY SKINNY"! I am naturally very thin and have been ridiculed my entire life. And I'm sick of people making me like I'm not a real women and assuming I starve myself (Which I DON'T). What makes it ok to reverse the hate? So now it's not ok to be skinny either?
ChelaHarper 4 years ago
alot of people are naturally thin tho...
Nicoleiia 4 years ago
You have to dig deeper with many of the models being skinny. Many of them are foreign models and grew up in poor families and maybe grew up with an unhealthy diet which causes poor growth. People need to learn to accept themselves and others and the world would be a better place.
beautifulcreature88 4 years ago
Different people find different things beautiful. That is the wonder of every human being being unique! You shouldn't let other people fill your heart with hate, because that gives them power over you and makes you the weak person. I think that there is horrible discrimination against skinny people. In this obese America where the majority of people are overweight they stress on the skinny people for being skinny.
beautifulcreature88 4 years ago
Why is it a bad thing to be beatiful. I also sometimes get mad about airbrush but it is just because I want to look like them. I think your angry that your overweight. and its fine to be fat but its bad to be mean.
hellovelvet 4 years ago
actually.... i'm not overweight. my bmi is healthy. however, this light and the clothes and the angle i chose are, at best, unflattering... should have thought about that.

Im gonna tell u a secret:Pin the video i made befor i was sitting in lighting so u couldnt see the bad parts of my face.after wacthing this im going to make a video of the real me ok;]
siisiimaria 4 years ago
wha??
iluvminirexes 4 years ago
okay, i agree with the airbrush thing because it is a bit rediculas. but you shoudlnt say that its wrong to be thin. I'm a very skinny person but i'm happy being that way and i hate people telling me that i have to put on weight because i'm too skinny because i know i wouldnt be happy if i did
Why is it wrong to tell fat people to loose weight, but its okay for a skinny girl to be plauged to gain weight?
shallwesaygoodbye 4 years ago
i don't think it's wrong to be thin if you're naturally thin... it's just society pressuring everyone to look thin that i'm against. the key is HEALTHY WEIGHT. that's different for each of us!
iluvminirexes 4 years ago
Society's obsession with thinness is that slender women are more beautiful. Model's are tall and thin because that type shows clothes to advantage, which is why they are FASHION models, they show fashion. You need to work on your own self esteem, put down the magazines, and find something to feel good about. Leave the beatiful images alone if you don't like them.
jamiismail 4 years ago 2
Yay, thank you someone who is telling the truth.
Stay beautiful

i love the rant the whole airbrushing thing is getting really ridiculous girls dont even get recognized for there personalities and there originality or creativity its all come down to are you pretty or not its so dumb!
LiveALil555 4 years ago
If women are feeling bad about themselves because of what they see on T.V and in magazines then they need to work on their self esteem. Telling someone they look disgustingly skinny and boney is just as bad as calling someone fat. Heavy people get ALL the support in the world because it's more common. But I agree with this video partially. Photoshopped pretty/skinny is just wrong! It's fake and dishonest.
Rosha267 4 years ago
while it's true that self esteem is an important thing to have, it's hard to get when much of the media says you must be thin and perfectly made up to be beautiful. i think we need to help overweight people lose weight (it's unhealthy as well as unattractive), but we also need to support the idea of a healthy weight (which is different for everyone).
iluvminirexes 4 years ago
I love what people like Oprah are doing; the idea of healthy weight IS getting into our media, and I'm encouraged. Thanks for the comment and agreement. :)
iluvminirexes 4 years ago
I agree.I use photoshop professionaly and now I look to a picture and I can see the face behind the digital layers. All of them doesn't look stunning... regular girls..some of them look cute with make up... And what you see in the mags are digital dolls.

jakina 4 years ago
That women have professional make up on them, perfect hairstyle and are completely retouched with the photoshop.I been with some pictures on my hands of models before retoching and my god, they dont look cute at all with all the make up...Is scary...Sometimes they even put a bit curvy the models in the pictures cos they are so damn thin...
jakina 4 years ago
Even though the world is healthier than ever (I'm not kidding - the news is lying to you), there are still people like this. Still dreadfully skinny models. Why?

RussianGuyovich 4 years ago
i like the way you set ur message across..and they are all fake..and sex is just to much..and yes she does look like a hoe..but thats life...it aint gonna get any better... ppl will be ppl...and some models do look like that....but they do smoke..like every other american..so the human condition makes you angry... who cares...suk it up its only gonna get worse..its getting worse as we speak...the end.
humbertomelgoza 4 years ago
i agree 100% abt what u said about modesty, but not about thinness.
malrose9389 5 years ago
It's a so-called 'fashion' magazine yet, you're so right, the images are salacious... They send a bad message out that females should be overtly sexual in the way they dress. Not good, & it only attracts bad attention that would make that woman feel uncomfortable, and lower her self-respect(perhaps without her even knowing it).
Be strong, kia kaha, be true.

work on your own damn body..
99Mary99 5 years ago
Wow. You are 1. going against what you just said and 2. not seeing the point of the video. She's not making fun of the girls for how they look. She's saying that the media is too harsh and focused on sexuality and thinness. You need to stop being so mean and work out whatever issue you have.
shelovessomeone 5 years ago
actually you still do NOT get it. She is mocking all that is different from her. Its lame and very obvious. If you want to BLAME the media for all the diseases of the world, go right on ahead. But dont assume to know I have issues when you obvious do what you enjoy doing best: whining and blaming the media for making you UGLY.
99Mary99 5 years ago
alright... sooo... you don't think that the culture that the world has right now, editing models to make them look thinner and taller than they are and airbrushing to make them perfect has any sort of negative effect? you don't think that there are some people that think that they should look like the models in magazines? anorexia and various other problems that arise from wanting to be perfect are not things that make you ugly, it's not whining, it's a disease. a mental disease.
shelovessomeone 5 years ago
ur a dumb dumb person.. actually... why do you respond if you do not make any sense at all. she is being a hater, and its pathethic and very very sad. .
you on the other hand, must be over 200 pounds to be this BITTER...
ha.
99Mary99 4 years ago
That's a lil' bit mean. She's not a bad woman. And she's not judging people. She's judging the media and standards of our culture today.
celestialsam 5 years ago
get off her back.
And you've actually seen her body, have you?
She was sitting down all the time, that posture does not seem like a good enough example to "judge" people, to use your even lamer, and what's more, pointless words.
To iluvminirexes, this was a really good video, it must have opened a lot of people's eyes, tht's why there are so many hate comments =]]
You're really pretty anyway!

Some models are just naturally skinny. I have a friend that's going into the modeling industry, and she can eat all she wants and never gains a pound. I'm kind of the same way too. So they may not always be starving themselves.
