Wow darlin, this is one of my favorite song and I think you did an amazing job. It's not easy translating a song from Japanese to English and making the lyrics sound right, i have that problem with Spanish all the time. I'd like to officially request Honoo no Tobira by the same band and would love to hear your version of Lacus Clyne's Fields of Hope. Kudos and keep it up!!
@kizuji :( she's actually a •profesional• you know.... You either have really messed up ears, or her voice and way of singing just isn't to your liking:)
Sorry, but I just couldn't listen to it. Not only have you recorded it in bad quality, you're actually singing pretty flat as well. :/ Get some better recording equipment, and for God's sake, don't ruin another good song. D:
@xRaalx If she's a professional vocalist, then there is no excuse for the poor recording quality, the lack of an original backing or the fact that she is as flat as a fucking pancake.
She's not in pitch. Do you even know what "pitch" is?
And no, I do not. Frankly, I didn't really want to listen to such a beautiful song being ruined by a poor quality fandub, and stopped less than halfway in.
Maybe this is just a bad song for her range, but surely a "professional" should know that?
I don't consider myself a professional. I'm a classical voice major, but I'm still an undergrad. I have been paid to sing, but that was as much for my knowledge of Jewish liturgical music as it was for my singing ability.
As for your actual criticisms: no, the mixing isn't great. Not even gonna make excuses. And, to my ears, I'm on pitch for the most part. But maybe you have perfect pitch and I don't.
In any case, I can totally understand why somebody might hate this.
Damn.. this makes me think of my ex gf.. "Please don't leave me now!" Desperately I scream Another vow tossed into a stream Onwhich the silent orange blooms sway so aimlessly I have saved them all, Every memory But now they fall to eternity They scatter in the wind Ty for taking your time to sing this. I used to love just the melody but, your vocals made it a much more phenomenal experience. You have vocal skills that mess with people's emotions!
It's very nice to hear this song sung in English...it had a impact in the Gundam Seed series. Everytime this song played...there was some climactic battle or event that moved the storyline into a new direction. Great voice...great song...oh, and Thanks very much for your efforts..they're much appreciated! :)
Love the scene in SEED that this song plays to, the mass driver being destroyed, kira and athrun fleeing from the attackers, quite a significant scene. One question though, in seed destiny, why is orb normal? Didnt they set off a nuke on the island?
This is played multiple times throughout the series. I worked my way through the episodes recently and I think it was first played in the episode where Cagalli meets Athrun for the first time. When they're in that cave at night and she tries to take his gun while he's sleeping. I think it first plays after that little moment.
Only other occasions I recall it playing. Was when the Archangel crew reach Alaska. Flay tries to tell Sai she still has feelings for him. Miriallia, Meanwhile tries to stab Dearka in anger for insulting Tolle. And Flay aims a gun at Dearka.
holy.....oh my god. I liked the song before, so i saw this and had the attitude was "eh, ok we'll see how decent this is." then i heard it..you did..amazing on this one.
Finnally!!!! A person who can do fandubs AMAZINGLY!!!!!! could you plwease make a fandub of "Kanashimi No Mukou He" (I dislike the anime it comes from but love the song and I cant find a fandub of this version that I like, but I think your voice would be amazing for this song)
A song that gets to heart, a strong background tune and equally powerful lyrics to match it............... AMAZINGLY done i wish i could know the singer's name.
Not as such, no. I got the "orange bloom" lyrics from "ORENJI no hanabira", which means "orange petals".
"Akatsuki" is one of the Japanese words for "dawn" (the other, to my knowledge, being "yoake"), with the "aka" specifically referring to the red colour of the sun during sunrise. I tried to allude to that in the final chorus with "waving my goodbye to a crimson sun". Hope that clears it up.
This is super awesome ^.^ My friend burned this to a CD for my birthday and I love it. You pause in some awkward parts where it could be smoother, and it sounds as if you're a little close to the mic at the beginning or something, but the lyrics are so pretty and your singing is amazing.
I live in the USA, now, but I'm not planning on entering any Idol competitions. For one thing, I do not have the type of voice that wins those kinds of competitions. For another, I don't think I could handle that kind of stress.
I can describe it: it was like wen people first discovered love , and fire, and a sense of warmth. It was like the whole universe stood still for 4 minutes to listen to ur soft honey sweet melody of compassion and kindness. It was like watching tv then realising that some people don't have this lug-ger-ie (idk how to spell it) of lazing about then going to volunteer at a soup kitchen. Or hearing the gods speak right into ur ear "your perfect the way you are". Having death himself come and say
WOW, incredible voice! Just practice drawing out your breath a bit more so that the singing is less "stuttery," as someone else has mentioned. You have a talent for singing, for sure :)
ur singing leave me speechless, i love this song for i heard it in japanese version, when u sing it however, it was something words cannot describe. u keep up a good work. also, u have a gift for singing, pratiace and u'll get better
Omg Holy Crap *Crying* I never knew an English song could be so beautiful. I mean even if it was translated from Japanese... The way you put the words together was amazing all in itself. And you have a wonderful voice.
There's a problem with your video page. I can't believe YouTube missed it. There's a dislike button. Try and get in contact with YouTube to get them to fix this mistake. Please and Thank You
In a way i kind of get wat ur goin through, something like this happened to me and my family not too long ago. I just hope you take a different route than i did with my depression. I give my condolences , even though it might not help with ur pain. I don't know wat a relationship between father and child feels like but i imagine its something like, "You Raise Me Up" by Lena Park.
Nice. This is probably one of the best english language fandubs i've heard of a japanese song. And now I can actually follow whats being said when I watch Gundam Seed and this song comes on.
Are you a fan of classic poetry? You used the "S" and "Th" sounds in the first part to create a consonance that is often used to express wind in written poems so well that I'm inclined to believe it was intentional. From a linguistic point of view, I can only applaud that brilliance.
Could you do Find the Way by Mika Nakashima (i think thats right)? its from Gundam SEED, the final ending song to the show... Great job, love the fandubs
Good job with "revitalizing" the translations. Because I watched the original Japanese song with its translation, it made sense but its flow didn't fit the rhythm if it was sang in English so EXCELLENT JOB!
Are you picky about your dubs, geeky? Like....whenever I make dubs or covers, I dread listening to the final product and have to change this thing or that thing...did you/ do you ever have issues with that? Haha If you did, how did you get over it? Or have you not... :P
Good, but noticably stuttery. Have you considered substituting in words that flow a bit better lyrically? That would turn it from an awesome dub into an awesome song in it's own right :)
@geekyfandubs i think he means "to cling upon/without a care" the vibrato sounds a little more stuttering rather than vibrato- not my opinion, i think it sounds nice :)
@geekyfandubs i think nfinitymatrix may possibly mean like in the part "so the earth still turns..." i think the 'but' part. when you go "bu-ut" but i think that it's fine and still very beautiful. ^_^
That is, I believe, a problem with my delivery of the lyrics. At the time of recording this, I had trouble sustaining my breath, and I was worried that I wouldn't reach the end of the phrase if I sustained the "re" for as long as I was supposed to. So, in that regard, my delivery was decidedly stuttery, but I don't think the lyric itself was.
@geekyfandubs I thought it was perfect. You sing beautifly, and I wish that i could have enough courage to sing a song by myself and post et for everyone to hear and comment on so well done and don't listen to anyone who says otherwise. :D
@geekyfandubs I think what nFinityMatrix means by stuttery is that the words are great but it doesn't connect at the end of each word to the next so that it sounds rather choppy. I used to be a singer and my teacher would grill me on keeping it connected. I like the way the chorus was delivered though, it's very smooth.
I loved this song in Japanese when I randomly found it a few years back, and it remained one of my favorite Japanese vocal songs for a while. Now, I'm hearing a dubbed version of it? I'm EXTREMELY pleased! Thanks for dubbing this song! :D
I guess it's about time to pull myself together to comment on this after listening to it for briefly four months
You're voice is as always fantastic and really good translation
I've listened a lot to the original by Fictionjunction Yuuka, but I've got to admit: this version is the only that gets tears in my eyes. No matter how hard I try to resist, " planted in my mind, an orange flower still blooms in memory of you" gets me every time.
This reminds me of Tsubasa Chronicles..... I don't know what this came from I just loved the song and that's what it reminded me of. Really awesome it was beautiful!! ^_^
First off: I'm a real fan of your work. But maybe you could watch your articulation a bit, sometimes I can't really figure out what you say without using the text. Other than that, great work and keep it up!
You have a beautiful voice :) I like your version better than any of the other fandubs I have seen of this song!
If you don't mind...may I use the lyrics, my friend and I have been looking for a song to sing sometime and I cam across this, it would be awesome as a duet :) But only if it is alright with you of course :)
Your lyrics for the opening part of the song is so amazing that it sends chills down my spine. I now prefer to listen to your english version of this song instead of the japanese version. The lyrics flow and are so meaningful, i'm just so amazed at how you string together such emotional words to such a great degree of accuracy to the melody.
can you please send me the lyrics for the back up singer, because me and my friend would like to sing this for our schools talent show, if we can pull of a good duet we would make it in. So please can you send the music sheet or something like it.
@geekyfandubs oh really, i cant hear them clearly so i tough they would be a little different like they would skip a word or add a word. and when i meant the words like notes like tone. but thank you
I don't have sheet music, so I don't really know what the notes are, either. I was just following the notes by ear off the karaoke track. Basically, it goes like this: first verse has no harmony. The first chorus does technically have harmony, but I thought it worked better without it. Second verse has harmony, second chorus has harmony, bridge has harmony. The final chorus has a brief section without harmony, which you can hear in the karaoke track.
You geeky, Akatsuki No Kuruma is one my first faves anf personal fave in Gundam Seed
I have my gratitude to you for doing this wonderful fandub!.You did this in real pitch.I must say that you have very beautiful voice~ Assuring that I can feel the motion and emotion of the song at the same time.It is ages since I've listened for a while now because I'm also busy with my studies lately~ well the first semester have just ended here so I'm as well listening to more of your fandubs sooner or later.
you have such a beautiful voice and i'm sure you can achieve your goals of being an opera singer if you keep believing in yourself. With how well you sing now i'm sure you'll make it to the level og greatness that you want.
um can i use your fandub for a video ill give you full credit for the song xD but i making sure if its alright if i use your fandub dont want to get into trouble xD
My favorite part is when you sing with the japanese back-up vocals

It's a very good fandub, but the sudden stops and hastened words at certain times break the emotion flowing from your voice.
Other than that, I think you did a good job.
MaikoSan00 1 year ago
@geekyfandubs i think he means "to cling upon/without a care" the vibrato sounds a little more stuttering rather than vibrato- not my opinion, i think it sounds nice :)

@geekyfandubs i think she means the part of 20-28 sec. how you take a pause.
but good job on this

@geekyfandubs i think nfinitymatrix may possibly mean like in the part "so the earth still turns..." i think the 'but' part. when you go "bu-ut" but i think that it's fine and still very beautiful. ^_^

That is, I believe, a problem with my delivery of the lyrics. At the time of recording this, I had trouble sustaining my breath, and I was worried that I wouldn't reach the end of the phrase if I sustained the "re" for as long as I was supposed to. So, in that regard, my delivery was decidedly stuttery, but I don't think the lyric itself was.
geekyfandubs 10 months ago
@geekyfandubs I thought it was perfect. You sing beautifly, and I wish that i could have enough courage to sing a song by myself and post et for everyone to hear and comment on so well done and don't listen to anyone who says otherwise. :D
saphiere14 10 months ago
@geekyfandubs I think what nFinityMatrix means by stuttery is that the words are great but it doesn't connect at the end of each word to the next so that it sounds rather choppy. I used to be a singer and my teacher would grill me on keeping it connected. I like the way the chorus was delivered though, it's very smooth.
DraginWindz 7 months ago
@nFinityMatrix I was really confused by this comment and the following comments because I kept reading 'stuttery' as 'sluttery'.... XD

Have you considered a career in this? I really think it would suit you, unless this is just a hobby for you.

To sum it up short: Bravo!

@sasorishadow
The lyrics for the back-up singer are the same as the normal lyrics.
geekyfandubs 1 year ago
@geekyfandubs oh really, i cant hear them clearly so i tough they would be a little different like they would skip a word or add a word. and when i meant the words like notes like tone. but thank you
sasorishadow 1 year ago
@sasorishadow
Hopefully this is helpful.
