It does state on the Phoenix RC website that it does not work with a joystick / usb controller - however you could buy a transmitter before a plane or whatever - that way you can have a better idea of what plane etc you want to buy later - rack up some hours on the sim with high winds & messed up trim etc then go buy / make a Depron foam model & crash it for real ;o)
you guys do know this is a club and not the phoenix rc simulator :P

the answer is NO! you need a real transmitter!
