  • No offence but you sound like a sophisticated 16 year old. How old are you exactly?

  • Actually I think that the beard adds to the handsomeness!! the two grey spots are awesome and placed just right!! rock it you knotty man!! lol (i know that was cheesy)

  • I saw that my tutor is a handsome and nice guy ;-) I always thought that you are old and cold man. Anyway... Thanks to you and your vids.

  • JD,

    Your videos have really helped me while I've been sick. I wasn't able to do much, but I could tye!

  • It's nice to put a face to the hands! We forget how much work doing these videos is and it's good to be reminded of that. I don't blame you for cutting back on your production, and it's kind of you to tell us that (shows you have thoughts for your viewers) Good luck with your projects and the pioneering that you are doing for this subject matter. I'm off to find your book and Facebook page! xx

  • It's called "distinguished"....keep the beard!

  • you seem like such a nice person, I have learned a lot from you.

  • Hey JD just want to say thank you for taking so much of your time and life to upload these awesome knots. You really are one of the backbones of the movement. I bought the first fusion knot book and I am eagerly awaiting the next. I support you taking the time away from shooting videos for youtube to produce this book. We'll still be here when you get done with the book, and maybe even have a stronger presence! Thanks again

  • Thank you JD for all your work! I have found your videos to be very helpful and easy to follow.

  • Thank u! Awesome video u had made . All the best for ur book, I wonder if it will be selling in Malaysia too when it's published ? If it really do, I will buy one (^_−)−☆ hehe...

  • Hey man I appreciate all your hard work you do on your videos..."Awesome stuff you put out here" I had an accident and viewing your videos was the best mental therapy i can get.... Thank you very much and good luck with your book I'll looking forward to get that book soon too.

  • HE HAS A FACE?!?!?!?!

  • My boyfriend bought me your Decorative Fusion Knots book & I love it! I can't wait to see what other cool things you will show in the future. I do have one question. I'm a marine bio major & I love the sea turtle knot you did. Are there any other marine animal knots that are possible?

  • I can't wait for the paracord project books. I have enjoyed your Fusion Knots book.

    I will definitely order your next ones.

  • I feel like we're friends, thank you!

  • very very new to all of this but your vids are the best man.. thanks for all ur hard work and I support ya 100% looking forward to the future of TIAT...

I expect your new book/s will be as exciting as the older ones. I can hardly wait. Nice vid, btw, like sitting and having a chat in your living room... cozy and sincere. :)

  • The fact that you have put so much work and time into teaching us these techniques is amazing and I am so grateful to you. Take all the time you need JD and I look forward to the new book

  • you know i have to right this to you only because i feel u r the best here on u tube with wat part u play on here........i looked at a video and there was a comment on here to a young lady saying that she was selfish for not show her talent i looked over some of her stuff and it was pretty good but then i found you and low and behold one of her products that she sell she learned it from u i know she did i say this too her and u at our best we are all teachers so shame on her i love your work;}

  • I never really pictured you as so....seemingly shy or naturally timid lol. Don't take it the wrong way of course, but at least it adds alot of color to your personality for a change. Maybe it was the camera

    Either way though man, im looking forward to your upcoming works, and in the meantime you shall be missed in both vids, and on a week to week basis

  • Can't wait to see the new book!

  • Thanks to you creating your YouTube videos I have a new fun way to create bracelets for my friends and family. I give them to them. It's great to give the many different colors and styles of tying paracord projects to people. Thank you for enriching my life.

  • JD, you're awesome, and thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I think you should take all the time you need to produce your (current) master work. No need to worry about YT; we have plenty to keep us busy for a while. I'm looking forward to the book! Keep up the great work and continue to be inspired.

  • And i hope that one day u will put all ur vids on dvds so the world will discover a new yet old branch of art

  • JD Hi my name is daniel and i was watching sum rope tying vids and happened to find one of ur vids so informative that i went and watched 50 vids and tied at least 20 of them and im just a biginner! I love ur work and cant wait for ur book!!! My knots that i learned from u helped me started a small skewl business and i actually show my classes and teachers how to do the knots! I LOVE UR WORK!!!!!!

  • Love the vids bro. When your books become audio books I will get them. :) Keep up the great work!

  • Awesome update video JD! Good luck with your future works! I can't wait to see more paracord based stuff. I got into paracord because of the channels I started watching here on YouTube. I get so many compliments from coworkers and customers alike on my paracord bracelets. I even made one of your dragonfly knots out of paracord for my mom and it's hanging from her rear view mirror. She loves it. Keep up the great work and can't wait to see the next video.

  • its gonna suck having less videos but thats life, thanks for all the knots and knowledge

  • Can't wait to see them in November. Kick back and stay cool JD! =)

  • It is a wiseman who makes time to allow things to happen. I cheer you on! enjoy the change of routine. Enjoy the documentation of your art. I look forward to your work!

    It also gives me the chance to go back and review videos to see what I missed the first time through!

  • Completely understand JD. Fully support your work. It is amazing.

  • I have been tying knots since early childhood as a boy scout. Your excellent videos have inspired me to sharpen my skills once again in our craft. I hope to one day pass this on to my son and thankfully I have your contributions to show him. Thanks for all your hard work and I look forward to seeing your upcoming changes.

  • Love your beard :) Nice to get a chance to see you!

  • Well said.

    Like so many J.D., I love your videos. As a matter of fact, thanks to you, I have a monkeys fist on my back :). Will miss your weekly videos, but completely understand your desire to pursue your writing and encapsulate your art in book form. Based on your schedule, I'm amazed at how prolific you have been, and the energy you have to produce such clear, concise, videos. Look forward to your monthly, and hopefully pretty soon, your weekly videos again.

    Good luck and take care.

  • Really really appreciate all your work JD. and thanks for the tips and ties!

  • you really are the ambassador of knots jd

  • Like all artists, it is time to explore new techniques and mediums. Best wishes on your new direction. We have loved the ride so far.

  • Hey JD you rock the knots. Thanks for efforts.

  • If I had a dollar for each time you said uh, um, ah, I would be a millionaire :D oh and make your 200th video with Kristen!!! :D

  • Hi JD, although I love your style of teaching and think your videos are very well conceived and produced, I honestly prefer to work from printed directions. I can't keep up with your videos anyway, so I'm delighted that you've decided to focus on getting another book out! I was hoping this video would be an announcement that a new book was coming out soon, I have to admit. You've been extraordinarily generous with your time in making these videos, and I'm deeply grateful!

  • Thank you for sharing your skilled work and videos with us. I always push the link instantly when a new TIAT email drops in my mailbox. Thanks for the explanation also. It prevents me from getting worried something nasty happened. I will be looking forward to the monthly notifications even if it is to watch you perform a miracle with a piece of rope I can't reproduce at all ;-)

    Good luck with your other projects. We'll be watching you!

  • BTW I really get a kick out of your first video shots of your thumbs and then..the reveal. In my head I always say "tah-dah". lol Gregg

  • Your way of showing how to make the knots is THE BEST!!!!

    Your way of teaching - mainly no talking and making sure that what you are doing can be viewed - is the best way of showing how to make your knots. Thank you for sharing your talents with us. Good Luck always.

  • It's about always progressing and moving forward. Good luck brother.

  • Thank you JD and the best to you!! It was very kind for you to give so much to us all. I think the videos that you have that don't have a high view count are probably because they look to tough to complete for a novice. Anyway, keep on keepin' on. Your an awesome individual.

  • Hey JD! No need to worry, you have gave us more than enough to keep us busy, and all free of charge! Your videos have been a big inspiration for so many of us, and always is good to see a new one, but it is not as you have an obligation to us. The best of luck to you and we´ll be here when you produce your next video.

    Just remember to include the history and other aspects of the tie in the video itself, please. Is best to have all the info in just one file.

  • JD. After going through your first knot book, and having spent countless hours watching your videos learning the knots you have brought to us I wish you the best of luck. I can not wait to see the next book out. I am always around paracord and am constantly inspired by what you come up with. Keep up all the great work.

  • Greetings to you

    Thank you very much

    I am also interested in a lot of waiting impatiently for your lessons

    I benefited a lot from you very definitely

    I made a lot of bracelets, key chains and many more

    You are an inspiration to me

    Thank you very much

  • I'll miss the weekly videos but I think it's great that you're going after what you want. I will definitely be buying the book when it comes out! Good luck!

  • JD thanks so much for everything you're doing! I am a quite new tie-r, but I'm loving every single second of it!

    I've got two questions, if you don't mind;

    When you first started tying these knots and making the video's, what did your fiance think (did she mind at all)?

    And I've got over 100m (400ft) of paracord, and I was thinking of making a neck tie out of it, just cause. Do you think it would be possible or think of any way to realistically achieve this?

    Thanks again,

    Dave.

  • Thankyou for your videos and dedication to the craft. I am eagerly awaiting your latest knot books and will definitely be purchasing when they land in the UK. Don't press yourself for the community we'll be here with cord in hand weekly monthly or more, Thanks again :o)

  • your spread reminds me of the Apocathary guy from Quest for Glory III

  • JD, thank you for all your inspirational video's. I wish you succes with your plans.

  • Making a new and different tutorial every week= Hard work. You pulled it off tho, congrats!

  • Whether you put out a video a day or a video a year, we'll all be eagerly awaiting the post. I'm always excited to see what new tie you'll show next, spacing the videos out won't change that- especially if it means another book!

  • YOU ROCK !

  • i have no idea how i ended up on this video, but i think he's adorable.

  • Hi

    So nice to see you

    Have a nice day

  • Can't wait for the next book, have peaked at the knots on your FB, totally love the new concepts and ties. Endless Falls tie looks incredible. Thank you for all the ties you have shown, I've utilized them for making jewelry; bracelets, necklaces, fobs, and even belts. Thanks to you i have started my own small business, The Hollow Cord Jewelry. my friends love the ties as much as i love making them and just really cant wait till the new book.

    Keep up the incredible knots

  • JD I've been with you for some time now. Not sure if you know that or not. From TKB to today you have been a large influence in my tying and the language of rope. I've tied every one of your videos and plan to buy each of your knot books. I have Fusion Knots and Back on the Ropes in Kindle. I look forward to getting the others when money allows. If I can help you in anyway with the new volumes, plz let me know. I have skills in graphics.

  • JD.

    You words are very inspiring.

    I'm sure I speak for more than one person when I say that you're a great knotter and person.

    I as well as the tying community thank you for being committed to knotting.

    You're the best!

    We will be looking forward to your next videos.

  • JD, amazing work, the best on the net!

  • Thank you so much for all the work you do for us. Your videos are the reason I never leave my house without some cord. I am immensely excited for the new book, and backing off the weekly videos makes perfect sense. Best to you JD!

  • Thanks to you I discovered a universe more important than the simple fact of making bracelets of survival.

    I am very faithful to your realizations and I hope that you will so continue even for a long time, there is no bigger division in the domain than yours.

    Long life to you and to your division.

    Good luck.

    Friendly. Léo.

  • I've watched a load of youtube videos on any number of subjects. Your presentation is the best hands down! I'm looking forward to the day you do a pineapple knot around a golf ball. I've done it the hard way -- without the benefit of your instruction.

    You've inspired me. You take all the time you need (but hurry) on those new books. I look forward to adding them to my library.

  • Great decor in your living room too!

  • JD, are your novels available in audio book form? Any plans to do so?

  • @DheereCrossing - "Disturbingly Normal" is in the process of becoming an audio book now.

  • I own your first book and think it's great. Good luck with your future projects/volumes I look forward to seeing them.

  • Good luck with everything enjoy your videos you make some good stuff.

  • I enjoy learning especially things that keep my hands busy. I've been able to teach a couple people and have introduced a few friends to your channel. Making bracelets, bars and baskets has gotten me through some tough times even, when my dad passed away knots kept me focused on something. So I thank you for all you have learned and all you have taught, and I thank you for what creations are yet to come.I hope it goes smooth with your project.

  • J.D. - I consider myself one of the lucky ones as I have had the pleasure of meeting you & working (knotting) beside you. We were at the 2010 Summer Sailstice on Treasure Island. Your table was busy all day long with at least 2 or 3 kid (or adults, too). I was impressed! I look forward to seeing more of your work, but I surely understand the need for a rest. And, in keeping with your attitude - keep moving forward!!!

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~Jimmy
  • It's weird how you hear someone's voice and you get a picture of what you think they look like, you're usually wrong. I thought you were a redhead, heh. Good luck in whatever you do. God Bless.
  • Your house looks so cool
  • i will miss you ...  but glad it will only be for a while ... thanks for unselfishly sharing your tutorials
  • Good luck. Great job with the videos and I'm sure the books will be GREAT as well. Thanks for sharing your work,
  • like everyone else here,i too will be purchasing your books and really am thankful for your videos and sharing the knowledge of knotting with the rest of the community.
  • I WANT THese BOOKS!
  • I've often wondered what the time demands of making your videos was. Now, finally knowing that, I'm wondering how you managed to do them and live your personal life. Perhaps you should teach time management. I'm glad you're changing focus. I'm glad you're not leaving completely, let's not go crazy, but it's truly great to see you expand. Best wishes. See you in November.
  • Thanks for your sharing! It has really opens a world to me o making dog collars. GOOD LUCK TO YOU!
  • Continued.....
    Color work sheet with pictures kind of like your books.
    All the best and thank you for what you do.
  • If you could quit your day job you would have tons if time to tie knots!!! Here are three ways you you could make money from your craft.
    - add a PayPal support button on you website. People like me really appreciate your work and would donate.
    - make a DVD of your YouTube videos. This can be with a menu so you could select the video you would like to practice on the big screen in HD.
    - most artists sell there work. You could sell each pc you make on you tube and include a autographed co
