@crosseyedNtonguetied for this one I was using pieces of heavy plastic from bags, but I don't recommend it, acrylics tends to stick to it, you are much better off using waxed paper
Your videos are so awesome, Leslie. Who'd have thought you were so apprehensive just a few weeks ago about appearing on camera? Look at you now...you're rockin' it, girl! YAY!!! Keep 'em coming...I learn so much from you.
I'll give you a link when I get home. It's Kristen Hersh in this video. She sang for the throwing Muses and 50Ft Wave. I'll get you a link to her downloads. She's super indie and super awesome.
I really really enjoy your videos. Partly because you use what you have around and don't seem to spend a ton of money for supplies, so it's so down to earth and I love that! :D Plus you are just so "REAL" and natural and not fake and that is another wonderful trait! Your videos and journals are awesome! :D I look forward to seeing lots more!
I'm really glad to hear that you like my videos! I am a hoarder of materials and I look for deals. Most of what I get I get on sale. 40% off coupons. the Art Journal community has been awesoe to me and these videos are my way of giving backl I'll keep making them as long as I can. I'm very much a "what you see if what you get." I'm the friend people go to when they want a honest answer. I'll keep it real!
@TheArtisticBiker I don't always. I left about 1/2 of the pages blank, with no color or stamping. Depending on what I'm doing I may or may not end up coloring over the whole thing so you can't see the initial color. The toned pages are awesome though for sketching and doodling.
I haven't decided yet on whether I will take an art journal with me when we go and see my parents in Holland at the end of the year. Might be too busy to get anything done. But it will give me something to do on the train from London to my parents... hmmmm.....
@EvelineUK I don't know how much I'm going to get done. I just know I"ll have a lot of time in the hospital waiting (8 hour surgery) and a lot of time in the woods. I do usually journal quite a bit when I visit my family but this time may be different. we'll see. I figure if I do a lot of prep work I'll be more inclined to work in it.
I have never considered prepping my pages before i go,I always start with a completely blank page,I know thats not wrong, but i might be inclined to journal more if I have some pages prepped. Off to Germany soon so I might give it a go. Have a safe trip, are you driving or flying? Beverley
@bamckuk I like to start with a colored page in my sketchbooks, so I started doing it in my art journal. It adds a little excitement to the page, and who cares if I screw up? The page isn't white! :)
We did the coloring the page as an exercise in on of my painting classes. I didn't like it until the summer I took off to make art, I went through a sketchbook and randomly painted pags with color. I found when I was out i would look for those pages.
@RubyClaireART It a chunk of pellet bag- we burn them for heat. It's compressed wood and is really cheap to heat your home, the plastic is heavy and paint doesn't seem to stick to it.
The camera is attached to a boom microphone stand that my partner had when she used to record with friends. Attached to that I have a flexi-pod that actually holds the camera. I have clamp that secures the flexi-pod to the stand. it's about 6 or 7 feet above my table and I zoom in.
@lilithkills I'll be doing a final video when I fill this one. I most likely won't fill it for a few months. I'll be traveling to Maine for long weekends as I help to care for my Mom after her surgery
What didya put between ya pages as ya were moving onto the next page? Wasn't wax paper it was shiny like contact paper maybe? I can't wait to see ya pages when they're done. Hugs~Poe
@SHEWHOWANDERS I have a pellet stove and it uses 40# bags of pellets. I cut up one of the bags and used that to keep the pages from sticking. It's a heavy plastic, heavier than a trash bag. And the paint doesn't seem to stick to it. Also we get 100 of them every year, All winter we use them for trash, and I still have some left.
what are the sheets you're using as separators? Wax paper?

You & your mom are in my thoughts. I hope everything goes well with the surgery and the recovery.
Thanks again for sharing - great work as always.
The song you picked out for this is very beautiful - is it available somewhere?
*hugs*

Don't usually prep pages before hand but it is definitely something I will try.. Safe trip and best wishes with your mom.

@DianaTro Thanks! I know that when I'm in a rush the preped pages get me past the "white Page" issue.

Like Bamckuk said, I have never prepped my pages before hand. I may have to do this. I'll see about posting a response video!

Wonderful! Great to see your process. Hope there is a part 3 so that we can see it after the journaling.

Wow this is exciting! (Me and my kangaroo are jumping with excitement hehehehe) I can't wait to see the finished piece!
What is that you are putting between the pages? It looks as if you do that when the paint is still wet? It looks awesome!
Oh and where do you position the camera? It up high like that I find impossible to do!
You rock! :D
