Yeah, a vid called getting gas and something else I don't remember; It's on my channel. I use a HJC CL-Max modular helmet. Modular is the one that allows the chin bar to flip up.
thank you very much for your series of vids. You present a safe style of riding for everyone and your comments are just hilarious. kudos on being very aware of your camera angles too.
Cutting the chin foam from even a flip helmet is dumb. It may not affect the intregrity of the skull portion, it affects the integrity of the chin bar. Studies show that 35% of crashes had major hits to the chin. Heres hoping your face isn't mangled with that helmet. Advice on cuttin has opened you to legal trouble if someone follows it, why do you think that manuf. made the helmet the way it was & state in docs to not alter the helmet or risk it protecting you they way it was designed to.
A hit on my chin bar would serve the same protection with or without the foam; it doesn't touch any part of my face. I'm not giving anyone advice genius. It's like saying that I'm advising to ride a bike, or stick a camera in their face or... I could be here all day :o)
Gee if it serves the same protection with or without, why in the hell do you think they put it there in the first place. It will touch your face when it breaks in a heavy enough inpact with part of its supporting structure is missing. All you guys drilling & removing peices of the helmet are up for a darwin award. P.S - this is sooo a instructional which means you are giving advise.
For other helmets I would agree and I agree cutting into the helmet is a risk; I never said it wasn't but this is a risk I'm willing to take. The point was not jeopardizing the cranial part of the helmet if the foam is a whole piece. It's a big enough risk putting a camera in the helmet; imagine the damage it will do if I go down. The videos I post are just my Points Of View. I never claim to be an instructor or know what the hell I'm saying. Your comments and POV are always welcome.
they also manufacture 3/4 helmets, where there's no chin protection at all. this guy bought a full face helmet and sacrificed its chin protection for v-logging. he's not risking anymore than people wearing 3/4 helmets.
@aruseb i must disagree, that's like saying taking the roof off of a car doesn't affect it cuz theres convertible cars, there designed differently, a can needs its roof for structural safety, and convertibles are designed differently so they can take a crash without a roof, and a 3/4 helmet would have to be designed differently that a full faced helmet, cuz it probably has thicker foam in places, and the visor has to be stronger cuz it doesn't have the chin-bar to help absorb impact on the visor
Thanks; I'm just using the camera you see; its a Kodak V570. No power packs, wires or microphone. Nowadays you can use just about any slim digital camera w/out a telescopic lense. Most record video and audio.
how many times did you say foam in this video?

I wear a 3/4 myself with no chin bar.
But legally and cuts or screws in a helmet remove it's DOT approved status.
Meaning no one has any liability for any helmet failures.
The helmet is no longer legal.
And a cop can ticket you for it.
Know that before you do anything to your helmet.

Cheers for the foam/helmet advice, I always keep my helmet safe and secure, helmets are designed to take one big blow and thats it.
I need to get a slim line camera so I can start some v-logs too.
