If you want to get the real "horse gallop effect" you should try to use three fingers ! Needs to be practiced but very great effect when skilled ! :-P
Did you use a pick for that bass? Trying to figure out the song out on bass, and I'm having trouble getting the beginning groove section down, while using my fingers. Would using a pick be easier and was a pick used by the bassist in the actual song?
@ToastedCheeks I didn't use a pick, although I'm fairly certain a pick was used in the original for the beginning and middle parts of the song/finger style for the end.

Then all that's left is making that a reality. Speed comes from the metronome, and the tapping requires a little time spent developing finger strength and accuracy. It'll become natural, although it's definitely frustrating til it does.

We play indie stuff which usually sounds better for that genre with a pick and is a heck of a lot easier as im teaching myself. Would love to learn finger but don't want to stray from the comfort of pick eventhough it's frowned upon. The fingering on this i can do it's just my alternate picking is poor. @ToastedCheeks Chris does use a pick for the beginning (galloping) and uses fingers after the first verse (right around 2:22 in the video)
