This is the example of dictatorship at its maturity. Are they trying to impress warlords in Sierra Leone by showing these stones? I feel sorry for the fat lady. She will need them when she flees the country. But her father won't be so lucky. The jewels shown in front of the wedded couple were not gifts. They are used as blockade. The couple have to pay to enter the bedroom. It is an old custom originated in India. It sounds stupid but it makes absolute sense in a corrupted country like Myanmar.
