its good but not accurate an accurate one makes us (am only 24) cry thinking bout what it represented to a good few million people in a lotta europe... the last damn thing they knew what the hell it was before shredding into small bits by a fuck load of bombs
Unlike an air horn, which is a high pressure, low flow rate device, a motor driven siren is a low pressure, high flow rate device. This explains all the wind. In spite of the high flow rate, sirens are among the most efficient of all sound signals, as their low pressure requirement makes up for it.
is is a small one. in southgate in london ontop of the old police station on the roof there was one the same size as a anti aircraft lorry, that served as the district air raid sirent, obviously there was more than one though incase one got bombed
No idea what to say to that, Mary... hahaha. I really dont think it would smash car windows or any window. It is not at the right frequency to bother any kind of glass.
I'll take 100 000, and a time machine, please. Need to get England ready for the Battle of Britain.

dear riggerparish
were there size variations of these gents carter's, were there extra large ones in london, did numerous ones go off at the same time.
also i've noticed these four fan ones produce a distinctive bi-tonal wail exactly like in those archive films, whereas the grey ones do not.
sorry for so many questions
Hexachloraphine 2 years ago
There were differnt "Versions" Of the Carter, But most were Knock-offs of copies of it, and by "bi-tonal" Do you mean Dual tone or like a hi-Low?

I should try and stick this into the quad block I live in, I think I may make myself slightly unpopular.

Superb. Out of curiosity, how and where do you go about getting one of these bad boys and whats the cost. They must be illegal to use outside surely.
