if you want economy without risking your life and sacrificing the basic comforts, you get the fit. ive compared all of these cars, and when they are all equipped with the same options as the fit sport, all ,but the 2012 accent, are more expensive. even the fiesta is worse than the fit in most areas.
the EPA fuel economy numbers for the Honda Fit are underrated. My '09 Fit Sport Paddle Shift automatic is currently averaging over 39 MPG, and ive seen the average climb to 40.2 mpg last summer... and no i dont baby the car, i do like to step on the gas pedal, and occasionally use the air conditioning... i really love my car
They complain about the Aveo costing around 15 thousand, but if they'll notice, that's for a practically loaded model. (as "loaded" as an Aveo could come lol)
what a retarded review you guys gave. how are you gonna rate a shitty Chevy above the Nissan? on top of that I agree with everyone else that this review was just bias towards the Fit. sure, the Fit looks unique and dare I say "funky" but if you had the 1.8 SL Versa, that shit ain't gonna fly against 122 bhp, compared to the fits 117. Oh and you can get a stereo system on the Nissan, aswell as a sub for extra bump. Next time get your facts straight and yes I am a Nissan driver.
I would go Fit... when discounted to 13K, MAX. It is an econo car and should not be more. If you shop aggresively... I JUST saw a Versa new for $8300. Base Aveo for $7200 discounted (a sweet deal), and Accent for $7500 recently too (at times even GS 4 doors are below 9 grand, no joke!). Yaris can be had for $9500 with no options as well. This is how to package a econo car, other wise buy a Hyundai Elantra discounted for 10 grand... it does come up a few times a year, and comes packaged well.
Fit's too spacious for this segment, and it will probably run forever (boring!), 5 star frontal crash rating, 5 speed auto, sport trim comes with 6 speakers, 117 HP, almost everything about it is perfect, but it's $2000 more than the others. Honda's design is too aggressive for me, so I bought a Yaris, not too bad but I hope it will last me 15 years, no trouble, till I find a wife. P.S. It gets me 38 mpg but it makes me tired on the highway since there is no cruise control and no 5th gear.
Uh, I had a 1997-3 cylinder Geo- Metro, 5pd........a great little commuter car. If I drove carefully I could get 60 mpg, and this is without many of the newer fuel saving technologies (variable valve timing, auto shutdown at stop, ultra lean burn mode, gas direct injection to name a few). I could see a little car like the Geo getting close to 100 mpg with some reworking of the systems. Problem is that little car would cost 20 grand, would it even sell? maybe if gas goes to 5 bucks a gallon.
Are you kidding the yaris is a far better car than the fit???? It drives better on the highway and has more luggage space... The fit is absolute rubbish on the highway and the cabin is way to cramped... I suppose hondas cheque is in the mail huh....
I have driven all of these cars, and I can honestly say that regardless of the Fit being base model or sport model, whether it looked good or not, it would still win this test with ease. It's simply a better built, more engaging and enjoyable drive than any of the others.
Just got my CR annual car review magazine. They, i can not overemphasize this word, they peed on Aveo, its best feature is that it is easy to get in. I also saw AutoWeek review, and you all know that they never say bad things about cars, they did about Aveo. It is possible one of the worst cars available in USA, how it came out 3rd i'll never know.
I test drove versa before I got my yaris and the engine caame on ( it was new) and was probably the worst performing car I have ever been in. I also tested the aveo which is about as durable as gold leaf pure american junk
This is crap. Hyundai always seems to be kicked in the face in these comparo reviews, even though they are the cheapest priced with best warranty. The quality is good and they drive well. So why last place? Maybe they should do like Honda and Toyota. Raise the price several thousand and cut the waranty 2/3's. Maybe then they'd be placed in first, since price and value apparnetly have no bearing in these comparo reviews, even among econo cars.
Apparently warranty isn't important to buyers. I thought you guys looked at "all the factors"? I think it was a foregone conclusion that the Fit would win......you got the ugliest versions of the other cars available, then gave the Fit points for looks. Yeah, that makes sense.
@Hako2004 warranty bs the dealers tell you isn't all true read the fine print. when you have a serious problem, they will tell you anything to get rid of you, especially these new hyundais 10yr-100K mile warranty. its all BS!

I think the Hyundai Accent held up pretty well over the years, with the new redesign it's gonna be even better than the rest of the competition.

Like what most people said, this was not a fair comparison, FIT Sports trim vs crap trim for everything else? Wheres the Yaris Hatchback?
otoakki 2 years ago 2
hmmmm it is not fair comparing
that honda fit costs at least $17,000 because that is the sport trim as we can see through the spoke wheels and the lift gate on the back
but anyway, i love Honda Fit that is the best car ever, even though it is not the best for the price
