I love this version. Too often when we get to this aria the action just stops and the baritone sings to the audience, but in this version it's played as a part of the plot: all the intrigue is there, as well as the show-stopping tune.
Isn't it cheating to have a Cherubino with short hair when Figaro clearly states "Non piu havrai quella chioma"? i.e. You won't have that hair any more!
Well although his hair is short in length, its still a mess of curls - I suppose too young looking for a cadet. Also, it would need to be either tied up or covered by a wig of some sort. But yea, his hair is relatively short in comparison to other versions of marriage of figaro i've seen.
Well, if all the other men have long hair because they're trying to be historically accurate for the 18th century, then logically, Cherubino ought to have a ponytail as well. It's having the man played by a woman wearing shorter hair than all the other male characters that's cheating.
I agree with the both of you-It just doesn't make sense! In future performances they should also get one of those brown ponytail things they have at Walgreen's and tie it to the top of the actress's wig, don't you think?
Cherubino sees the Count putting a move on Susanna, and he alerts Figaro to what's going on, so Figaro then calls the Count a "farfallone amorose," so the Count storms out.
It's so genius how Figaro directs part of the aria towards the Count... never seen that in a production before but it makes so much sense

I quite like this version, Bryn Terfel is AMAZING..as usual. also susanna has a lovely personality for the role. and Cherubino's sexy!
