The NES version is a really good port.

The original arcade version was also released for the Playstation 1 in Japan on a compilation called "Irem Arcade Classics".

Man, is it even possible to finish first on this game? I tried about a million times and could only get to 2nd, sometimes I got close to 1st spot but just as I got there it would run out of fuel lol. My girlfriend used to be so curious why I always played the same game, but I was just so determined to get #1.

Eventually (and i mean eventually!! - AGES of trying) I gave up. I just couldn't do it :(

Yeah great game i played this on real arcade machine 18-20years ago in Czech rep. and after 3rd finish you keep the same motorcycle, max speed 300 on road, 250 in desert. My max play time was 3h 15min on one credit then they must close. You can get past 1000000 points but from zero. 23times to New York and few cities on top. It was my longest play on arcade, it needs lot of practice and yes, my eyes hurts after that. I still hear the music from the game in my head, i was bad for their business.

@Pedlaj 1000 CC is difficult moto-category (in control). But it was hard from 250 CC (in control). But I was never 1st using the moto on game beginning.

wow i haven't played this game in a long time, i just dug it out and spite all the times i have to blow it out and a crack thats in the game it still works after having 31 in 1 for nearly 15 years now i believe

Well, on the positive side, the music loop is over twice as long as the one from the "final" level of original Donkey Kong.

They're pretty similar on the first loop through, but they divuerge rapidly at the second loop. Zippy Race just keeps getting faster and the cars in Road Fighter get more aggressive. They're a very similar idea, but they do feel different to play!

Sucks to loose it in the second loop though. Execrable trade just for a blue helmet and belt, IMO :(

For those who might read this and don't know, notice this leg of the trip is Los Angeles -> Las Vegas. The courses connect checkpoints right across the US, ending in New York :)

The technique is a great loss, yes :P. Later rounds are more balls to the walls "fly like a jeezer before you run out of fuel." You go fast enough to pass any car, and crash any turn :).
