This is a very strange episode of The Twighlight Zone. Years later Star Trek the Next Generation did a very simlilar episode with Dr. Crusher seeing the Enterprise explode over and over again! It was almost like a Tribute to Jonathan Harris from Lost in Space!
This episode was recorded live on 2 inch videotape.I think there were about 6 episodes recorded the same way.Good thing they kept it on the original tape and didnt wipe the tape and telerecord it. If they had they could still use a process called VIDFIRE to give a telerecorde episode a live look again
This is one my favorite TZ episodes. The music is excellent and the acting is very strong. Jonathan Harris knew how to put just the right sinister touch to his performance and I agree with the poster who says Barbara Nichols was very underrated as an performer. That's probably because she played so many dumb blonde roles but she was really quite a good actress.
Over the years, there's been a `Marilyn Monroe Imitator' roster featuring Mansfield, Van Doren, Diana Dors & Sheree North that's come to be used as notebook reference for film historians. Barbara Nichols is also relegated to that list and regretably so since she was a fine comedienne and good dramatic actress.
To see some classic TV comedy, look for Miss Nichols in a 2-pt. episode of "The Beverly Hillbillies" in that Miss Nichols played as burlesque performer. Nothing short of hilarious!
omg barbara nichols was so beautiful just like the other "bombshells" monroe, mansfield, greta garbo, ava gardner, sophia loren, man there are so many gorgeous women around the world but they cant compete against the others back in the day
I remember that episode. The ending was great. Jonathan Harris's character tried to tell the Colonel that he was going to far to win the bet. One of my favorites. They both wind up losing the bet.
YOU BUBBLE HEADED BOOBIE! MIND YOUR MANNERS NINNY OR YOU'LL LOOSE YOUR FRIENDS! DO SOMETHING YOU DOTTERING DUNDER HEAD! YOU LEAD LINED LILLY LEVERED LUMMOX! YOU TRRRRAITOR, AFTER ALL I'VE DONE FOR YOU! (Smith turns on Robot) Robot: AF-FIR-MA-TIVE. Smith: AF-FIR-MA-TIVE MY FOOT! I'd forgotten how delightful everything was before you became so INSOLENT YOU PEUCULANOMUS PIPSQUEAK!
Wonderful quotes of Jonathan Harris as Lost In Space's Dr. Smith insulting The Robot.

Harris was a good actor. He had a cold, calculating, ominous way about him. Sort of a scary Clifton Webb.

Jonathan Harris did at least one other episode of the Twilight Zone. Good character actor. Thanks for posting.

He appeared in a second episode entitled SILENCE.
He portrayed a member of a gentleman's club. A fellow member bets that he can remain silent for a period of time. I believe it was a year.
At the end of the year, the man wins the bet. The member who challenged him is proven unworthy of club membership. He is forced to leave.
I'm not going to spoil it for you if you haven't seen it yet. That is the general story to that point............

That excellent that you remembered all those!
I'm busting a gut over here laughing because I grew up watching Lost In Space and loved Dr. Smith's insults.

@EmperorDavros99332
it's spelled "pusillanimous" i think.
(i can spell it but i still don't know what it means)

@norristerse
Hi,
Pusillanimous is a fancy-sounding synonym no longer used much for cowardly or timid.
Thanks and be well.
