  • Yes I agree, many people from diverse backgrounds share a common tongue especially when concentrated in a small geographic area. Aramaic is still used in many forms & by many races, cultures & groups.

Also if Abraham left Ur in/around 1700BC then Hebrew should back date to at least 3000-3500 years.

  • KURDISH JEWS SPEAKING ARAMIC + ASSIRYAN

    ALLMOST 2000 YEARS

  • Learning alot! Im trying to learn languages young before I get a job!

  • Shlama / Shalom. Great post.

My first step at learning the Hebrew aleph beyt after many years learning Aramaic & Assyrian.

    Thank you.

  • @MesopotamiaGod

    ARAMIC = HEBREW

IT IS THE SAME ALPHBETIC !!!

    ONLY WORDS ARE DIFFERENT

  • @shaharmos YES I appreciate this. But beyond 22 characters being the same, there are many differences. I know the alaph beit, I studied it for over 7 years!

    I can read/write/speak in Aramaic/Assyrian, yet I can't read/write/speak in Hebrew.

  • @MesopotamiaGod

the TALMUD + TORAH + KABBALAH BOOKS

    are written in ARAMIC

and the RELIGIOUS JEWS praying in ARAMIC

  • Thank you for doing this. Shalome.

  • @botaflo

Yap, which is the only hebrew in use right now.

  • Is this MODERN hebrew?

  • @botaflo

    yes

  • Thank you this was helpful.

  • In Hebrew is "Bet" or "Vet" not Beit

  • @joselaren I've seen it written "beit," as well. It's actually a closer transliteration than "bet" is, as the Hebrew word is written: בית.

  • Alef Beit???

  • This series is very helpful. Thank you. How do you read the words without the vowel symbols as they appear in most Hebrew texts? Will this be covered in future lessons?

  • 5:30 COUGH FUCKING HELL!

  • @mideastatheist when the arabs stop being black. Jews hates blacks

  • @MegaVladimir1988 sorry didn't get you ?

arabs are not black but even if they were what is your point ?

  • @MegaVladimir1988 If you actually understood the real History about who the true Jewish or Yahudim are, they were black, and Abraham was black who came out of Egypt Africa. Dont start judging and yelling hate crimes.

  • @SeekTruthAlways1 abraham is from Ur. Ur is in sumer which later became babalon. All the artifacts suggests that the people of those civilizations were blue eyed people. You need to study sumer and babalon .

  • @MegaVladimir1988 Mohamed is white moshi is braun

the hebrew race is braun (the ben isra'il people ) so if you hate black why you don't hate white scadiwarien europeen , I am embaressed !!!

  • @riadtel22 original arabs and israel were whites red heads and blonds. Now arabs are brown , most of them anyway

  • @MegaVladimir1988 NO , arabs until now they are white , my town the most are blond

take the shem then algeria moroco tunis ..... and kouraish were white

we know it is a religions of a RACE not for people . who think the one himself is superior then the others ??

  • Excellent series...seems to go a bit slow, but that's what is needed to learn properly.

  • @PillzHereify

Japanese is harder, though the fact it's different from all other makes it harder for Japanese people to learn other languages.

Hebrew is in fact a really easy language.

  • .thehebrewlanguage(.)com really helped me get the alphabet down. Nekudos are so hard!

  • Hebrew is a Holy language!

  • @n00pr0 Ken ! I think so; That Hebrew is the Holy Lenguage.

  • Thanks for making this lesson. It's my first Hebrew lesson. Now, can't the word ABA (father) be formed with these first 2 consonants we learned (Aleph and Beyt) and the vowel Sho MAH (T)?

  • Awesome! You know why I decided to learn Hebrew? Because of a simple song. I thought that the language was beautiful! I would like to learn it better than everybody else, so would all of you!

  • Do you recall what the song was?

The aleph beyt is the hard part. After that, it becomes easier.

  • Do you recall what the song was?

The aleph beyt is the hard part. After that, it becomes easier.

Maybe one day, you can make a video of you singing the song.

  • I barely speak Hebrew, and even I know that this guy's pronunciation is ridiculous. It's "bet" and "vet", not "bayt" and "vayt".

Not to mention that he teaches as if his students are 4 year olds. For an average adult. I think teaching the entire alphabet in the first lesson is quite acceptable.

  • thank you

  • first of all thank you very much indeed my dear hebrew teacher here dear benior!

i want to learn hebrew cause i`m certain jewish people and not phoenicians invented alhabebet &its most recious gift to humanity by jewish people for which humanity owes much to jewish peole; alas instead monsters appearing humans endeavored to destroy such good people namely jewish people but not all human beings are like them; 1 question: why you say & exactly what it is you ronounce after kamatz. thank you!

  • This was fantastic of all of the Hebrew lesson programs available online this one is by far among the finest I've seen it gives both a solid study schedule but is informative indepth lessons appropriate for the begginer to learn these simple phrases and how to construct them.

  • Is hebrew like certain languages where you have to respect an order when writing a character? Like chinese and japanese? I'm Canadian..speak French, English and I know basics of japanese and chinese.

  • If you are writing for a Torah scroll, there is a certain order in the strokes. I don't know where you would find the information.

  • i'll try to learn a lil bit of jewish as my new fav actor kinda is one,^^

  • please anyone can translate the word spoke here...youtube.com/watch?v=8na__3z5iYU at 1:30

  • actually hebrew is VERY similiar to arabic so if your an arabic speaker and fluent writer you will know what i mean.

  • @fatoumaaa1 agree! it's a lot easier for arabic speakers!

  • @fatoumaaa1 I'm Lebanese and I have no idea of what the words mean. I think you meant that the pronunciation is similar which is very true since we both pronunciation sounds that are difficult for others.

BTW really helpful video, even though it is a bit weird for a Lebanese to learn Hebrew, but I don't care, I like learning languages.

  • Thank You! I've always wanted to learn Hebrew. Now I have a way.

    GOOD TEACHER

  • Yes! Excellent video!

    Although Hebrew did come first...

  • im indonesian

my grandfather was a jew...but we are not practising jewish culture anymore..we are chatolic now,but it is quite interesting to learn the language of my ancestors..

  • Very good and elaborate. This is just what I needed. Im a Russian, but one of my grandmothers was jewish, and i really like learning new languages. Thank you for taking time to make this video.

  • @needler94 hey, which grandmother?

  • Guy sounds like a cracker, i wouldn't trust a cracker to teach me SHIT, being that they fail to teach who the REAL JEWS of the Bible are.

  • I found this VERY good and helpful!!!!!!!! Only one question! In Israel they say bet, vet not beit, veit! I know that its a minor difference but it is bissle confusing cos I just started. But nevertheless I have learned much more by watching these than I thought! Toda Raba!!

  • Very well-made

    5/5

  • It took me almost two years to learn the alphabet. I can now write it....Baruch Hashem. You have helped a great deal with the vowels. What a relief that I found your work on you tube. Thank you for helping me to peice together this facinating and beautiful puzzle. 20 minutes a day...If I would have done that it might not have taken so long.

  • Great lesson! Thank you very much, I'm going to make the cards now. i'm so excited !! =D

  • hello it was the best easy lesson on you tube 5 starts for you sir!

  • the vid doesn't work : (

how can see it : (

  • I'm not Jewish, but came across this lesson whilst searching for videos teaching a new language. This is so easy to follow, that I'm considering investing some more time to learn the basics, you really make it seem achievable with some commitment and study - well done.

It is fascinating to compare the similarities between Hebrew and English - 'Aleph Beyt' /Alphabet, 'Aleph'/Alpha - with the differences - Left-to-Right/Right-to-left, radically different character sets.

  • Great lesson! Thank you very much for making it so clear and easy!

  • Good lesson thanks!

  • very helpful

  • I have a question though, is the Veyt the same thing as the Vav ?? Because in the alpha bet i found the letters didnt look the same but the sound did.

Which one would i found the most in books ??

  • They sound exactly the same. Some words have the letter vav and some have veit.

  • hey!

Beyt is not exactly the same as VAV..

the diference is like on english between the lettere V and B (how they sound).

The letter Vav can transform to an O or a U sound by adding grammer stuff!

But usually VAV is like an AND in the language and BEYT is like u saying IN (somewhere...)!

  • Just shutup and let the teacher teach, im not taking any advice from some youtube user. Plz just shutup.

  • omg!!! u are sooooo rude!!!

    im from israel stupid!!!!

someone just ask a question and i wanted to help him!!!!!!!! whats ur problem?!

  • Im from israel too I have to tell you, that in that point, his right.

He did not asked for what the letteres,as words, mean, but pronouncing and apirince rate...

  • Oh thank you so much, these is a really good lesson!!

I'm going to make my little cards right now :D

  • do you alwsys have to put an aleph at the end of a word

  • thank you thank you thank you!

  • THANK YOU & BLESSINGS

  • Thank you!

  • very good approach, thank you

  • Shalom thank you for this video.

  • B93Cohen , you are right!

  • this is the best! Although it doesn't cover Hebrew with the "implied" vowels, it is still very useful... thank you.

  • Thank you SO much for this. I love the Hebrew language - sounds so beautiful. I finally decided to learn it.

  • I have been trying to learn Hebrew for a year! This is so very helpful and I get it, FINALLY! THANK YOU THANK YOU!

  • This is EXACTLY what I was looking for! Thank you so much for posting this for people to learn from - I cannot wait to learn more :o)

  • bneior thank you much it was useful :)

  • Aleph?

    sounds like Arabic right!?

  • its because Hebrew and Arabic are very similiar, even the letters and some words are the same

  • both modren Hebrew and modren Arabic belong to the semitic Arabic language..

  • sorry i meant Arbid not Arabic

  • what a BS.

the modern hebrew is almost the same as the ancient one - i can understand texts written 4000 years ago, i can talk like jews who lived 4000 years ago (probably i will sound funny, and if i will talk like that in the modern life it will be even funnier) but its the same.

arabic was invented 1000 years after the hebrew. and the ancient arabic and the modern one have nothing alike!

  • I am with you Arabic is new but no one know the time I mean How did you find the time that Arabic language spoken? If we in Arab world have a long debut about who and when was the first Arabic language was spoken.. Was it Ishmael or was it the Arab tribes that he married from spoke the language first. Because they found today that Qhatan tribes are in fact Semitic with j1 DNA maker (the tribe that Ishmael married from).

  • And about the classic Hebrew you can understand but many can't.. it is like the classical Arabic ,, we can understand it because it is part of the Quran b. And by the way we divided into three Classical Arabic, Arabic measured language and Arabic spoken language today. We Arab understand the classical one because it is taught in our schools, read in Quran and Hadith and many TV program (historical series or movie) spoken in classical Arabic.

  • BTW, I made research and found out that many linguistic think that Arabic is the closest language to the Semitic mother language because Arab didn't get out of their land.. ..

  • ok ehmm

hebrew got many words from other languages - but they all were semistic languages. the first time hebrew was really changed was in the last 100 years when it was "revived" as a spoken languages and got other non-semistic words.

now, r\a quick research shows that "The earliest surviving texts in Proto-Arabic, or Ancient North Arabian, are the Hasaean inscriptions of eastern Saudi Arabia, from the 8th century BC" - 1000 years after ismael lived.

  • and besides, ismael father (abraham) spoke Sumerian / Elamite Akkadian / Aramaic Hurrian / Hittite.

and his mother (hagar) spoke ancient egyptian.

so most likely his sons came up with the new language (like the other sons and grandsons of abraham came up with hebrew).

and about ancient hebrew - i am able to understand it, if i'll talk it i will sound funny, but its not like the classical arabic and the spoken arabic, here is just a simple evolution of a language (over 4000 years)

  • you can seperate the classical arabic from the spoken arabic - in hebrew its just layers of changes that came over the years. every generation added its own "slang" and the language slowly changed. but i am still able to understand hebrew - even in its most ancient forms. accept for the fact that the hebrew alphabet signs and names have been changed (once they were called Phoenician, they are the basis to arabic, greek and latin alphabet) but once you learn the new signs its just normal hebrew

  • we know that Abrahim spoke another language.. but we don't know was it Ishmael who spoke Arabic or his wife's family.....because many people said that Ishmael was the first person who spoke Arabic!!

  • how could he learned it from his wife family if he was the first one to speak it?

and the fact that the very first arabic text is dated around1000 years after ismael lived?

i think, that like many people want to believe that abraham spoke hebrew - but they cant- its not logical. most likely heberew started in the times of isaac, jacobe, or even when the jews were in egypt.

so i think about arabic - its just makes no sense that is was existing 1800 BC.

  • as i told you it is a debut ,,,

    was ishmael the firt spoken

or did he learn from he family wife Qhatan tribes...

  • Avraham/Abrahim spoke Aramaic and it would not suprise me if he spoke Arabic as well.

He used to serve food to Arabs who dined in his tent!!

    Sababa~~Rejoice!!!

  • Comment removed

  • I am puzzled why my response would elicit three thumbs down when according

to the tradition of Israel-indeed Avraham did serve food to travelers. At the conclusion of the meal he would request they bless the Creator. If they did the meal was for free. If they refused he would charge them money for the food. To my recollection those who dined in his tent chose to bless the Creator.

  • very clear .good .steve

  • What a delight to find this! One question- I understand the idea behind the vowel chant, but what does the 'sho' part mean at the front, please?

  • How come when you type up Hebrew on the computer, the vowels don't show up? How do you know what the words are if there are no vowels?

  • At first in the video, I don't use the vowels. Later on I do. Eventually, when one learns the grammar real well, you know what the vowels are supposed to be.

To get the vowels later on, I use the bsthebrew font or I make copies of passages. I don't have a keyboard map as I wrote a program to point and click with the mouse to type.
