At 1:15 you can see that Matt Nicholls (the drummer) is hitting the cymbal and the snare, but you hear a fill in the background, which is in the recording, as well as what he's actually playing live, louder in the mix. So I think that they are definitely playing live, just with a backing track very low in the mix for the choir parts, and someone said earlier about 4:09 being able to hear Oli's voice as well as the person he's holding out the mic to, I think this is just the backing track.

@emericanpsycho Yeah the repeated bit is added as effect, You can see after tht the mic isnt nea Oli's mouth but thts because after the effect there is litterally an added second of Oli's singing so Oli can get back on track with the song. It is also added just incase his voice isnt the right tune, and will therefor sound bad, so its like a backup, but well spotted :)

So he probably triggers these samples by incorporating the hits on the controller/pad in his fills/beats/groove. His kit can even be triggered for something like tap tempo I guess?
