Atheism does not gain ground (or act as an opposing force to religious ideals) for two reasons 1, A non belief is an individual thinking persons understanding of facts and needs no group or organisation for its support. 2, Rational and intelligence does not allow room for fundamental or radical positions as these positions are only taken by the unintelligent and the non-rational. Promotion of free thinking investigation should be the only tool used in combating ignorance of any kind ..

I am in 100% agreement with you Matt and Jeff, but you know that if the voice of atheism becomes stronger and louder,we will be accused (once again) of being a "religion", and hence as bad as most of the real religions we oppose

@callac He was referring to Robert Green Ingersoll, a republican from the 19th century who was an agnostic/weak atheist. Google the name to get the full history of him :)
