You realize if your teammate passes the start finish line at the start of the first lap, and he is 2& 1/2 car lengths behind you... And then passes the finish line 2 & 3/8 car lengths behind you... he GAINED ON YOU. Even the slightly distance, inches even can make a .001 difference.

And you have to be stupid to not realize that when the leader board said button was -7 seconds behind you time, means he WAS THAT MUCH FASTER! Your time - 7 seconds = His time.

According to a member of the Codies Team, all times are put in a database so the cars driving on the track are actually getting crap times. This is reflected when you play on catalunya. The sector two times on legend ai are nigh on impossible to beat.

This is a timed session, the car behind would easily have been faster because Motionlessdude was checking behind him so often, so the car behind would have had a FASTER time, by gaining on him. The times shown are NOT the real times they are highly inaccurate E.g.you could post a time of 1:40 but it could show up as 1:59 so they were not actually seconds apart, you can see that and his time is slower and his rivals that what i said above you fool :P haha

I think the times are just made up in over words you can hold up Lewis Hamilton for as long as you like and when you cross the line you go 24th and he goes 4th. I belive the times have already been planned before the race has even started.

AI times are scripted, he could have gone round in 5 minutes and sutil would still get a normal lap time like 2 minutes or whatever.

@kinesas Contacting Trading Standard is an option if u feel dissatisfied with a product, but thats generally if the product doesnt work at all or if its damaged or has some kind of functioning issue rather than a playing issue. You would probably need a ton of people behind you in order to claim refund, it wouldnt be worth the effort. But i agree this game is shambells, there is so much wrong with it its unreal :/ @Z7TomC7Z i guarantee that sutils time will have been the 'ultimate' flying lap.

One time i was pretty far behind Webber in QF, I caught up on him quite alot on the lap but when the times came trough his lap time was faster than mine in some very strange way. So I think there is a glitch on this matter.

To bad about all the bugs and glitches on this game in general, but its still a very fun game to play. Love hitting those near perfect laps.

Look at how far far he was behind you when you crossed the line for the flying lap, and then look how close he was at the start finish straight at the end of the lap. From what I can see he was closer to you at the end of the lap than he was to start, that's why he got a faster lap...

Although there are some really odd timing glitches, I got a 1:22 on spa no corner cuts and stuff, ok lol.

Big deal, as long as they set times in practises and qualifying, that are realistic, I don't really care. You aren't racing against them in practice and qualifying.

They could of added a hell of a lot more to the game too. Like, they said this was gonna be like 'real' F1. Ok...So where are the fecking podiums and why havn't they put in a safety car feature? Also the career stats are SHIT. Where are the DNF rates and why oh why can't you look at previous race results for each driver? The biggest thing they left out is the fact you can't toggle through drivers on replays. The replay system is SHIT. Replays are about 5 seconds long at best during the race.

Codemasters already said on their note (when they announced the patch) that the AI lap times are not real on practice/qualifying, but based on a formula. That's why Sutil was faster than you even being behind you the whole time.

There are so many bugs that it's unbelievable. There are at least two bugs, the delay on the pits and the first lap timming, that really makes me wonder: how could they release it like that? It happens EVERY time you play (at least with 20% length races).

Watch when you start a race from pole lead the first lap and pull out maybe a 2s gap on that lap, watch the lap times for that first lap. I did a 1'33 in melbourne and the AI cars all did a lap in the 1'31s on the first lap, despite me pulling out 2s on them and leading the lap from when the lights went out.

i don't think your theory is right, if you really want to show it you are going to have to pass someone during a lap doing a lap and then see if they are faster still

@ossusman It's certainly the case in qualiyfing... masked by rubberbanding in the race (which means if you overtake someone, even if you come from a long way back they will suddenly pick up their pace beyond what tyres, fuel, car etc. should realistically represent). Clear example.. Interlagos. Wet qualy. I cross the line with 40s to go and there's a tide of cars coming out the pits (unable to do a lap in time), at the end of my lap, fastest, it jumps to show they've set dry times and I'm 24th.

Ok some peoples comments are just retarded, i have F1 2010 and i played f1 2006 on the ps2 for many years, and even THAT game is so much better when it comes to lap times and rules then this one, if any of you idiots have a brain and actually played this game, you will realise this is a major bug.

When you do a race, you can start on pole, and be over 3 seconds ahead of second placer, and the times will come in wrong, it will say your behind the 2nd 3rd 4th placer etc, and you will have NOT

@kyleandrew1987 done the best lap time, even if your in first position, when it comes to the second lap, the lap times sort themselves out. I did not realise this can happen in qualifying too, i could bring up a huge list of reported bugs and glitches wrong with this game, a number of them i have experienced myself. I love this game but it could be a hell of a lot better if it had been tested properly and brought out with no bugs, this is NOT a 9/10 game, more like 6/10 at the moment.

Codemasters say the AI times are False...qualifying times being fabricated...They saying that the times throughout the whole race are fake too...look around on the net gamers are pissed with this game...I had to start again 13 times because of corrupted data...So Its gone back to game and do you know they gave me a full refund...The games shite dont buy it...

1st of all c'mon people, so what if the AI is better at the qualify, in the race you beat the shit out of him. 2nd, before launching to qualify, first go to you're engineer and preset you're car. 3rd, play with a steering weel, is far better then a gamepad and play from the god damn cockpit (u are more accurate and the experience is better), 4th the cars are individually timed, so it doesn't matter if 2 cars have the same start and u are trying to beat the AI that has a flawless run.

@kinesas101 This isn't a bug, or glitch. Codemasters' intentionally made the timings like this because when the player is in the pits they can fast forward the game, if the AI are still on the track then the game physics can no longer support them. I can't remember the exact source I got this from, but I believe it was a reply on the Codemasters' F1 2010 forums as a reply from one of the Codemasters' employees about the "fake timings". I'm sure they could have worked around it though.

Conclusive proof of this (these) problems... 1) Codemasters had an "emergency meeting" on Monday regarding the game. 2) A developer posted on Twitter that times were faked. 3) There was no demo... because NO ONE would have bought the game in the state it's in, and they knew that. - Worst of all this core problem can't be fixed, it can only be masked... but then that was their intention to begin with. Back to ISI it is.

It is possible that he is indeed faster. If he started the lap 1 second behind you and ended his lap like 0,7 of a second behind you, his laptime is faster...

well technically, it is very possible for a car to be behind you throughout a race, and end up with a better 'best lap time' than yours, so this argument of yours is not entirely correct......having said that, i concede that what you showed is probably a bug in the game

Nice Video, i recognised something very strange that could also have something to do with the terrible AI Faking Stuff.

Look close and very carefull on your Car at the Corner between Minute 1:38 and 1:39 (Almost half of the vid). Do you get it?

THERE IS some strange GHOST Car poping up at your Position but a bit left for milli seconds. Furthermore this Ghost ist looking like your car... so i assume its either Sutil or you Car (what wouldnt make sense... why should be you car displayed twice).

Ok, I know that Codemasters have admitted that the times are faked, but in this video Sutil is closer to you in the end of the lap than he was at the start of the lap, so basically he should have got better time than you. 1. Have you raced the off-the-shelf open wheel ai in rFactor?

2. Iracing doesn't even have AI still correct? And they charge a premium.

3. GT5 ai speed seems slow. All the perfect timing in the world doesn't matter if the ai is too slow.

4. Forza always has certain weird cars that are faster than they should be.

Point is these things aren't perfect and I've raced a lot of games, and seen a lot of bad ai, this is fun fast good ai. But I get it, you are trying to help improve the game.

@consoleracing iRacing is not supposed to have AI so that's out. The last two are console games so I don't care about them. As for the Rfactor off the shelf AI, OK so it may not have been spot on but at least you were RACING them. Now with tweaks and mods it's spot on. But slow or not they actually raced you. It seems in F1 2010 it's all pre- determined.

Problem is F1 2010's core appeal is the single player... the spitshine they put into career, and the promises they made about the AI. rFactor/F1c's AI isn't good... and wouldn't pass for a good 2010 single player experience... but it's far more valid than what's in this game. My annoyance is mostly down to the fact I can't return this piece of crap game ¬_¬
