@bozotheclown9 It's funny that you said that. This movie came out before 9/11 except they used bombs in this movie instead of planes. And that terrorist from Bus 87 Ali Waziri being on the Terrorist Watch List still getting into the country because of a student visa. Same thing with the terrorists from 9/11. It's as if they saw this movie and were inspired to do almost what happened. :P Scary!
Vote Ron Paul 2012 to end the FEDERAL GOVERNMENTS' 40 YEAR LONG UNSUCCESSFUL WAR on the people's freedom of choice to consume substances (The end of the War on Drugs).
Ron Paul to audit the fed. Ron Paul to default the Constitution. Ron Paul to end the "Patriot" Act. Ron Paul to end the private bankers' "Federal" Reserve and the power for them to print currency (UNCONSTITUTIONAL).
Ron Paul to end warantless spying on American citizens, like you and I
No no no no, you cant torture someone through pain or intimidation, it has to be through aggravation and irritation. Make the terrorists take showers but instead of giving them shampoo give them mislabeled long lasting icy hot. Afterwards force them to wear jumpsuits lined with industrial strength itching power and strap them to a chair in a 120 degree room with numerous heat lamps. That my friends is hell, and at the same time non-lethal and humane. Have to drive them crazy to make them talk.
I wish more people watched this scene. Back in 98' it's like, "No way this could ever happen. This is America!" Oh the irony.... Thank you George W. Bush for shitting on the American Constitution, you sorry sack of s***.
Can this happen to ordinary U.S citizens coming home from work, and then be kidnapped by U.S Soldiers? please answer below.......or above, it don't matter.
"because if we torture him, General, we do that and everthing that we have bleed and fought and died for is over and they won. They have already won!." This is truly prophetic.
Truly one of the most pointed, articulate, powerful, and all around spot-on commentaries on the morality and appropriateness of torture in combatting terrorism. It's a shame that more people haven't seen this movie and particularly this scene. Truly prophetic... years ahead of its time as a film. And Denzel is, as always, phenomenal. He's a wonderful vehicle for this message, and does a great job throughout the film portraying an FBI Agent who is the model of "fidelity, bravery, and integrity"
@megamarsvin And how coincidental is it that the show "24", the same show that Jack Bauer shows how "effective" torture can be is sponsored by none other than Fox News? some freaky stuff eh?
@megamarsvin Keither Sutherland has said he does not accept torture. What is shown is a reasonable man driven to a desparate situation forced to take extreme measures knowing full well the consequence(s) in the future
@Brecconable I don't hold it against mr. Sutherland. It's just an interesting shift in society. In the 90s the idea of torture and good guys are antithetical. "If we torture, we're no better than them."
Then, in the 2000s we get a little scared and suddenly torture is a 'grey area'.
someone knows the title of the music which starts 1:20 ?

Funny because If "THEY HAVE ALREADY WON!", it does not matter what we do.
And 20 marines/specialagents/firstgraders are clearly a small price to pay in the war against sleep-deprivation.

9/11 was a FALSE FLAG/INSIDE JOB pulled off by elements of the FBI and CIA; the WH & Pentagon and ISRAEL.
If you don't understand that by now, I feel sorry for your kids, because your ignorance is condemning them to a lifetime of slavery and poverty.

@timewzrd3 under the rico act it is possible that ordinary citizens can be detained for just conspiracy of being a terrorist
MandaloretheExile 1 year ago
@MandaloretheExile You don't even need the rico act. We now have the "Patriot Act" and you can thank good old cow boy Bush.

@timewzrd3 I don't want to think about it. The answer is just too awful to contemplate

This movie came out in '98. They called it a ridiculous premise at the time. Looks prophetic now.
