first time isaw the stuffies was in 89 @ the irish centre in birmingham. rob trod on my (then) girlfriends foot and stopped to apologise and we spoke for a little while. after that he always said hello at the gigs and when i saw him in town.... the band lost a lot of following after rob left, RIP mate
Rob left the band due to Miles, and was in NYC on Xmas Eve 1989. He came here to NYC to marry me after his divorce became final. We married in June 1990.
I live in stourbridge so obviously the Stuffies were a massive part of my mispent youth! I still drive past their local pub every day on my way to work. They rocked - they remain and always will be my fave band eva!!!
I agree with below comment. I saw The Wonder Stuff back in 1990 on the Hup tour in support of The Mission in Seattle. I do not know if Rob was still in the band, and if he was, it probally was not his idea to stink when they played live. The one thing I remember is the singer complaining about the audience and than having the entire band sit down and play. I loved the eight legged and Hup was not bad, but after that, they stunk, just as when I saw them in concert. One persons thoughts :)
Tina, you are great! Fushizlemuda! Rob, aka "The Bass Thing" (as in bass guitar, not fish! LOL!) was my husband, and he would love it that you never saw them, but you only name the records he was on that you love! He made platinum records from those, and I still have them, though he is deceased for maybe 14 yrs. He was so special, and I loved him. I am so glad you enjoy what he was part of! Ps: Miles and Malc, the singer and guitarist were the reason he left the band. They were dicks.
I never saw them live or even their videos, but I love 8 legged groove machine and Hup! I used to run to their music in my walkman in Forest Hills, Queens, New York.
Wonderful!
