The reason why people compare these bands is because Gn'R is basically a reincarnation (the second coming) of Aerosmith. Read the autobiographies...Slash documents that the reason why started PLAYING was because of Aerosmith's Rocks-album. They even played a tour together; and everyone knows much of Gn'R is founded on the principles that Aerosmith cemented. In short, both are great bands, and yes, they do compare them for a reason.
