  • Mike's hands. :3

  • A different version than the LP. AWESOME!!!

  • Great point, I agree 100 percent, There were some huge bands during the 60s & 70s that used the same session players and they never got beat up as bad as the Monkees did. Hell, just from this song, take a look at Louie Sheltons resume he handled much of the guitar work for the Beach Boys, Seals & Crofts, Jackson Five, Mamas & Papas, Simon & Garfunkel, the list is endless..

  • I loved this song the most I think - mind you I loved all their music. Anyways - this one had such great melodies that each time I played it I kept trying each melody - but I thank you for this great video and the memories.

  • MY FAVORITE SONG, FROM THE MONKEES:)

  • Mike looked like he diden't care until the solo came, Then he had a good time.

  • I see someones been " whining " about Copyright infringement on You Tube. FUCK YOU, WHOEVER YOU ARE !!!!!

  • This is definitely my favourite song of the "The Monkeys"

  • Why is everyone so obsessed with who played what instrument ,whos cares ! just relax and enjoy the music dont stress...did Diana Ross and the Supremes do their own music on their records ? and did the Jackson5 do their own music ??? the Monkees were perfect for television not touring

  • Hey dont knock them LadyboyAgogo, they might not have done their own music to begin with but they do now and have done for some time. I have seen them twice in the 80s and they did some FANTASTIC stuff, Peter even played the organ just on his own Vidor's Toccata and WOW! You could have heard a pin drop. They were ALL terrific including Mickey who was doing some Rock, the lights went up and he said "I'm getting too old for this" which brought the house down!!

  • @gillypot1 have you seen peter playing the keyboard in the special 33/3rd monkees per revolution ?

  • @gillypot1 look it up on youtube at the end of part 5/7 ...33 monkees per revolution

  • Why do I love Peter so much?

  • I heard glen campbell say he was playing the lead lines and saw him play it .sounded the same to me.

  • LOOK....at that ULTRA rare 12 String Gretsch !!! Too bad the Tamborine is WAY out of sync....lol

  • de las melodias inmortales con este grupo y en hd.!1 asi se deberian de ver todos los videos en you tube

  • God these guys are cute :3

  • I never noticed how much the opening riff in this song sounds just like Frank Zappa's " Hungry Freaks Daddy " from Freak Out LP

  • I'm pretty sure the very fluid classical sounding lead solo is actually by Tommy Tedesco, or another session player.

  • @charlyW34 I suppose you might also tell us those are not Nesmith's fingers we see on the guitar in that video either? You can see it clearly in the video that the man is hitting the chords spot on. Come on! So, WTF are you talking about?

  • @Choqtaw Firstly, I am a Monkees fan, and a huge Nesmith fan. I does not bother me in the least that they had session players on the recordings. You do realize that this and virtually all of the videos they made are lip synced, right? So, even if it is Mike's solo on the recording, which I doubt, you are not hearing what he is actually playing in the video! If you know of any cd credit or mention in an interview that it IS Mike, please let me know. Cheers!

  • @charlyW34 The riff and lead guitar playing on this recording was done by Louie Shelton from Boyce & Harts band The Candystripers with Billy Lewis on drums Larry Taylor on Bass and Gene Estes banging on tambourine. according to Andrew Sandovals book Monkees Day to Day History, Pete will show up to this recording session with guitar in hand and will be told No Way, Pete has said in a number of interviews, this is when his discontent started with the project.

  • @kenc1161 Sorry correction Boyce & Harts band was the Candy Store Prophets, I gotta stop posting info when Im stoned....

  • @charlyW34 Your 100% correct on session players & lip synching. I am also a huge Monkees fan and have been one since I saw them in concert in 1968. (and yes they did play their instruments) But it still blows my mind how crazy people get even today when you try to tell them besides Headquarters and a few tracks on Pisces Aquarias Capricorn & Jones they very seldom played their own instruments or even recorded in the same studios. It is why Pete eventualy quit he wanted to be a real band.

    Peace

  • @kenc1161 Aye. It's interesting. If they had stuck the 4 guys in front of a studio band to dance and sing, they'd likely be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but since the producers asked them to also to pretend to be the musicians in a TV show, while still singing, they will likely never be. It's a strange world.

  • I love anything that Davy and Mickey sings!! Love all the Monkees!!!!

  • OHHHH im sooo in loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee <3 <3 <3 <3 STILL! lol

  • Mike can sure play a nice solo. Glad my dad started me on them

  • i dont know why but i laugh so much when Davy just randomly starts floating in the air :P

  • @8888111188887777 MonkEEs remember !

  • The hat rules

  • that is really clear video for back in the 60s

  • nice sound q

  • :) Mike is soooooooooo HOT!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love how Davy just kind of floats away in the beginning.

  • Woah, who's the hottie with the hat?

  • i JUST MET A TEENAGER NAMED VALERI, AND SHE IS JUST AS WONDERFUL AND THE WORLD IN THE 60S.

  • Que bien toca Mike Nesmith

  • Muy buena rola!

  • Mike's guitar strings must be extremely tight to play then high notes way down there! lol

  • a bit different to amys version

  • Davy can float!!!!!!

  • They are so damn adorable...bring them back!

  • @lumeriam They ARE back, touring, that is.

  • @lumeriam they toured this year ,

  • @lumeriam Have you seen them NOW ??

  • @TheKenfig Yes I've seen videos they are still adorable especially Davey.

  • i love how Davy starts floating up at that start :P

  • You can tell The Monkees are so digging this song!

  • What a dish. He's the most!

  • Nesmith hated this.I quite like it though.:)

  • I love the guitar solo!!

  • The sounds of the tamborine besides the guitar were magical. A very original and natural rythm.

  • Loved this version of the song...

  • Love it...puts a smile on my face.....always Loved Peter....today is just so...not fun

  • if you want to know how republicans saw the Woodstock Generation...this and the Partridge Family is it !

  • They always bring so much energy to these videos

  • The best version of this song!

  • I love how Davy isn't even on the beat and during the intrumental part, he isn't even remotely doing what the tambourine in the song is doing! Great song tho...

  • @skeeta1068 -.-

  • Great song/video!
