when the big companies like DC and Marvel see that alternative comics are so great and so deep, they inevitably unload their meaningless bullshit movies to the mainstream to make sure that the mass populace still can't differentiate comic books from superheroes.
@bitzeepapa To quote Neil Gaiman, "comics are a MEDIUM mistaken for a GENRE"...I think maybe the big two have started to realise a tiny bit--Marvel put out that "Strange Tales" collection with strips by all the prominent "alternative" cartoonists taking on their biggest characters...check it out if you haven't already, it's worth it for Peter Bagge's Hulk story alone. @vollsticks For me the Strange Tales series highpoint is that issue with Harvey Pekar's story in that it was the last thing Harvey ever wrote before he died, and the bit with Ben Grimm (The Thing) talking about retiring from the FF and asking Harvey about the benefits of working as a government file clerk is just beautiful and heartbreaking.
