  • Utterly amazing. I am in LOVE with les Misérables and I think Alfie Boe is brilliant as Jean Valjean! -3

  • If you notice that it's gone up a thousand views in the next day, well......yeah that's me sorry

  • I honestly think he's better then Colm, really. Just look at his eyes, eyes show more emotions than facial expressions most of the time.

  • Fantastic.

  • How can 4 people dislike this video, Best song ever, along with one of the best Valjeans ever.

  • Beautiful.

  • Can't stop watching this!

  • great show, can watch it over and over again.

  • i have fallen out with my brother we will never talk again but i still love him so putting aside what he as said about me sam i love you so much x

  • I still don't understand how Justin Beiber gets more views than this.

  • i have 2 make a dance to this..... by sunday !!!! arrggg , nut nice song

  • im sorry to hear this.yes they were all our boys and women

  • OMG eu sou brasileira também! Pensava que era a única dessa nação que ama musicais e principalmente Os Miseráveis! Alfie Boe nunca decepciona em me fazer chorar comBring Him Home... Valeu pelo vídeo! :D

  • Wow!

  • It's so cute when he tilt his head at 3.23 <3 You're the best Jean Valjean, and the best singer Alfie!!!

  • CAN'T STOP WATCHING :''''D

  • Very well sung :)

  • Shame to those 3 people who disliked...

  • This is off the chain, I shed tears every time,

  • he only had two weeks to learn all of les mis 25th aniv

  • @TheTurczyn Not too hard, I love Les Mis but it only has about 10 tunes in the whole show :p

  • This is so beautiful that I shed tears. Nick Jonas's Marius doesn't deserve this great, heavenly song!

  • @lovelindgren the character of Marius is supposed to be very young, idealistic/romantic with a nice light voice....he was perfect. Peole bash Nick because he is a Jonas Brother but forget he has been in many broadway shows. He fit the role to a T!

  • Beautiful, one of the best Valjeans i've ever heard.

  • love this song

  • This makes me sob.

  • and I cried at this song...

  • Just fabulous! I have always been of the opinion that no one other than Colm Wilkinson could ever do justice to this number. I am grateful to have been proved wrong.

  • @addiople Naw Thenardier wouldnt dislike, Alfie and Matt are best friends in real life

  • Alfie Boe's entire performance really moves me, and one of the main reasons is this number. Not only is his voice spectacular, but his acting is so honest. He IS Valjean.

  • This is my favorite Valjean... he may not be vintage, but I love his operatic voice <33

  • @SkellaBella1396 I never said this wasn't gorgeous! I love it to. Was just saying I can't find it better. I like both Alfie and Colm in this song. I don't realy compare them, I love this song period. I was actually surprised I liked this so much. I just had someone question me on the facts, and I had to explain them. It's all good! This is beautiful!

  • @ShieldMaidenBLS Oh, I wasn't even aware of your conversation in the comments lol I just know that a lot of people prefer the original (me included in some cases) so... yeah hahaa And you are correct, both versions are fabulous :D

  • This guy was working at a factory, and is talent was spotted by his work mates, who told him to take his voice where he could perform, and that's what he needed.

  • This is gorgeous and enjoyed it immensely. But, how do you top the best? Colm Wilkinson was the original Jean Valjean, and the actor this song was actually written for. This piece was written by the composers specifically for Colm's range. Though this is beautiful, Colm's is the masterpiece for me. If you want to see what I mean, check out Bring Him Home-Colm Wilkinson the 10th Anniversary Concert. I still enjoyed this one.

  • @ShieldMaidenBLS to be honest, i disagree..... i personally like this version better, even though I was introduced to Colm's first. I find that Alfie's is more rehearesed and has a fuller, while Colm's is more unfinished, which, while it does fit the character, it makes me wonder at the same time that it seems a bit too scratchy. I just think that Alfie's range fits this a lot better, no offense though! Just my thoughts :)

  • @garthtater41 No offense taken, just your opinion. I prefer Colm for this, I always have though. I saw the making of Les Miserables, and they talked about how the composers of this song wrote this specifically for Colm who was the first original West End Jean ValJean. I listened to him sing it off stage in front of his fellow actors, and actresses. It has stuck with me all these years later. This is gorgeous though, and I was not taking anything away from this man!

  • @ShieldMaidenBLS actually, the original 1980 version in Paris had Maurice Barrier as Jean ValJean, Colm came later in West End in 1985..... so none of this music was written specifically for Colm..... because it was first done in French, in Paris...... to be honest, though, it is much more beautiful in its' native language :)

  • @garthtater41 Please look up Les Miserables Documentary Part 2. It explains that Bring Him Home was not in the original French Version. It also explains how the composer did infact write Bring Hime Home for Colm Wilkinson. I tried to post the url, it wouldn't let me. Schonberg actually wrote Bring Him Home just weeks before the London Theater opening. Please look up the documentary, both parts are on YouTube. It's fascinating!

  • @garthtater41 on youtube that's Les Miserables 20/20 Part 2. Both parts are wonderful, if you love this play!

  • Hopefully I can pull this off in the musical my school is producing :D

  • dam this is the best

  • Everyone should check out Jamie Pugh - Britain's got talent on youtube. Makes me cry every time I listen to him!

    Alfie Boe... is... amazing!

  • this is why alfie boe is my idol <3

  • NOT OLD ENOUGH, GOOD VOICE THOUGH!

  • Tremendous!

  • RIP WO1 Darren Chant......Miss you mate

  • Alfie Boe what a voice! When he sings this song it make set hairs on the back of my neck stand on end.

  • Sorry, Colm Wilkinson was great in his day...But Alfie....WOW....such perfect tone, takes your breath away....

  • This was played at my closest friends funeral when he was killed in Afghanistan

  • @TheMrGrumpyUK that's what that song reminds me of . Poor guy and his family ..god bless xx

  • @TheMrGrumpyUK - Wow, that must have been incredibly moving and emotional. I'm so sorry you lost your friend, but I hope God did bring him home to Heaven and give him eternal rest and peace.

  • @TheMrGrumpyUK - Wow, that must have been really emotional and moving. I am so very sorry you lost your friend. War is terrible. But I pray that God did bring him home to Heaven and give him eternal rest, peace and joy.

  • @TheMrGrumpyUK It was played at my father's funeral when he die of lung disease

  • @TheMrGrumpyUK Thats sad, god bless him xx

  • Alfie Boe. That's true talent :)

  • oh god...i cried hard...

  • this song reduces me to complete tears and yet fills me with peace and joy all at the same time, utter perfection.

  • I've watched this over and since I saw it on PBS last winter. I can't get enough of Alfie's incredible voice. Going t see him live in Kansas City next spring!

  • A more than worthy successor to Colm

  • Comment removed

  • Am going to see his last two performances (hopefully) today in London. This is going to be AMAZING. Then Ramin is going in... :D

    Two AWESOME Valjeans

  • @pudsey4000 saw him this Thursday. Everybody gave him a standing ovation after this song, and then another one at the end of the show! never seen that before in a theatre :D

  • his voice moves me to tears. i can't handle it.

  • Finally managed to get down to London to see Alfie in the roll before he finishes at the end of November. Oh... My... God... You know when music sends shivers up your neck? Yeah well Alfie sent shivers all the way down my back and down my legs! Utterly astonishing voice and performance...

  • I've never been an "opera guy," but I've now heard two songs from Les Miserables, and each of them has left me completely undone. I clicked on this video out of curiosity, and next thing I knew I was weeping in front of my computer. Maybe I'll have to BECOME an "opera guy."

  • one of the very few performances that has left me completely speechless

  • I am training so hard right now to get my voice on the sam level of his!!!! HE IS AMAZING!!! I LOVE YOU ALFIE BOE!!!

  • @dAnCeLiFe149 see?? this guy practiced to get you to hear him now...simply stunning.

  • @histre101 He is amazing! I hope that I get to see him live one day!

  • saw him at the queens theatre on saturday and started crying as soon as he sang the first word. absolutely beautiful.

  • Just... wow. If anything, this only exemplifies the fact that there are real singers left in this day and age. only 18 myself, but always one for good old classical music. Dubstep, step aside.

  • truly truly awesome....

  • Crazy.. never thought Javert and Monsier Thenardier would create Youtube accounts just to dislike this video.

  • *sigh

  • my god this is breath taking

  • Alfie has one of the best voices around. He certainly rules here!!

  • Amazing voice, but have you heard John Cashmore sing it, search and listen to it right now, stunning,

  • THIS SUCKS!!!

now your are reading my comment :)

I forgot to breathe when listening to this master piece.

  • wheres dec ??? lol fantastic

  • This is just A-MAZ-ING!! Alfie has the most incredible voice, his control over the quiet notes is just breathtaking!

  • HEY LOOK! JAVERT WATCHED THIS!

  • Whoever 'disliked' this does not deserve to listen to this song... in fact, they do not deserve to have an opinion on anything music related. Rant over.

  • I've decided. I love Colm, he's amazing, but this... this is perfection. During the 10th anniversary concert, Colm is stiff and angry. Alfie is so incredibly passionate, it's breath taking! I believe he doesn't just play Valjean, he lives him through this concert. Remember at the end where Alfie is crying?! It's just... ugh! This man! I love his performance!

  • You know when people say someone has "kind eyes"? I never really understood what that meant until I saw Alfie :)

  • how is Alfie not blown away by his own voice

  • This is the best version ever. He caresses each word, as the best singers should.

  • Beautiful <3

  • I thought Colm was the absolute best but Alfie Boe just melts my heart.

  • Awesome voice and the way he brings emotion into this is just how do I say AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • minibab

It's a sterling attempt but I'm sorry, I have to disagree. When Colm sings this song, you really believe him and his voice is much stronger when it needs to be and then tender when it needs to be.

Alfie is good, but perhaps a little too 'operatic' for this song ?

Colm IS Jean Valjean and it will take someone really special to top his performance.

  • så otroligt vackert:)

  • Absolutely beautifully amazing.

  • Audible perfection!

  • There's power, a lot of it in his voice, but I don't hear (feel) the raw emotion that should be pouring out of him in this song. He's an excellent singer and his voice is top-notch but, he's classical meaning it's about the perfection of the voice and not the feeling that goes into it.

I prefer Colm because of that but by-God, Alfie's a close second. :)

  • @KaseytheJudge I think Colm and Alfie approach ValJean totally differently. Colm's is angry, agressive. Alfie's somewhat calmer. Alfie said he views this song as a prayer so he sings it with a peaceful, tranquil feeling rather then" raw emotion". Both Colm and Alfie are amazing, can't choose my favourite!

  • Totally agree with minibab! Wow!

  • This MUST be the most impresive version of this sng ever sung and acted...holy crap!!!

  • I once believe that he was the actual Jean Valjean. Excellent conveyance of the emotion on top of the excellent vocal.

  • Pure and beautiful, but lacks the grit and authenticity of Colm's version...

  • Beautiful, thank you for uploading.

  • Last year I found out I was related to this man. I almost cried. I need to meet him:-(

  • There suppose to be button LOVE!!!

  • OUT FKN STANDING!!!!!!!!!!

  • Having listened to so many different renditions by many talented artists I find myself coming back to this one performance. His voice is just so pure and perfect for this role. It's 4 minutes of heaven every-time I listen to this.

  • Not only is the music beautifully rendered, but Alfie is in character and his prayer touches the heart. The epitome of musical theater!

  • No joke, I would place this as THE definitive performance of this song. Sorry, Colm. You're great, but Alfie blows you out of the water.

  • @minibab I was about to post your very words! NO ONE puts more emotion & feeling into this than Alfie! I'm usually a bass/baritone fan, but HIM I could listen to forever. Seeing the outpouring of appreciation from the audience & the humility in Alfie's face has choked me up again. My channel is the history of a century of music on 750 playlists. This 2010 performance is on my list for that year. I've made playlists for every year since 1900. It's all thanks to the uploaders who post the music.

  • @minibab I agree, I emailed this link to my Mum and she has bought the Alfie Cd for me and her friends because she loves him so much!

  • @minibab I agree!

  • I agree, Alfie takes this song to a new level!

  • @minibab Colm does an outstanding job, make no mistake, but Alfie's higher notes are smoother than Colm's, and that last note was just magnificent, simply magnificent.

  • @minibab John Owen Jones throws a good shot at him.

  • @minibab Blows him out of the water? I prefer Colm's version, but I have the lucidity to say that Boe's version is magnificent. They're all on such a high level that it's really personal preference that dictates which one someone likes more. I prefer Colm because his voice, to me, sounds as Jean Val Jean should sound. Boe's a fantastic tenor, but Colm's voice has that warmth that a lot of people don't have.

  • @Powderwombat Well said,

  • An amazing performance, played the role so well when i saw him in London. An amazing voice and such a good person, stayed behind longer than the audience did with Matt Lucas to see/sign autographs for people!

  • actually love Alfie Boe!<3
