    'tunes'.

  • the sax is beautiful sweet

  • ever sine i seen eddie & the cruisers i feel in love with the songs. i have been trying to find out if john cafferty still tours. if anyone out there knows, "PLEASE" e-mail me....

i would really apreciate it!!!! ray......sosidecruiser@att.net

  • The Boss an the Money Mahine stole the lives an music from these guy's ! least thats what i heard. Reckon i believe it , as everyone else sounds like a copy !!

  • Cafferty is the man!

  • Dude your grandpa was the "MAN"! and the five who don't like ummm clear your ears please...

  • This is music when music was music. I can understand what he is saying...:). Love this song

  • this i s real music that you can relate to not a bunch of screaming and raping

  • you know honestly y is music now a days not like this and no one uses a sax in there music either wth its saddening i love the sax in this song and the paino sets this song off for me :) anyone agree

  • @jeremysdragon-Bruce for 1

  • the one an only great artist in the world his music was the best when u listened to his two songs on the darkside an tender years it gets u thinking bout everthing like the past present an futre.. u are dearly missed R.I.P.

  • the man playing the sax is my grandfather.... A lot of talent coming from Michael "Tunes" Antunes

  • @brickbybrick21 he is one bad ass sax player I LOVE the sax but he is magic on it

  • @brickbybrick21

    You're grandfather is the man!!!!

  • i used to know how to play this song on the drums. i helped my cousin learn how to play the drums by this song

  • im not a fan of either movie per say but the soundtracks are awsome!!!!!!

  • the 5 dislikes musit be from this generation or lady goo gaga fans hehehe

  • ROCKY RADIO:::::::::::::::::: THE REAL BAND !!!

  • Love it!!!!!!! This song will never get old. Awesome movie too :-D

  • I use to work at a bar in Cleveland called the Band Box John Cafferty, Bought the bar for the night, I had the best time of my life, He and his band members were great people..

  • I LOVE John Cafferty and The Beaver Brown Band.. I learned all their songs from the Eddie and the Cruiser's movies.. but this is amazing music!! Wish they were more popular! btw, I'm only 22.. ha.

  • Best sax ever!

  • yep..that's what I like to do: listen good music and forget about my problems. After that i will face them with courage.

  • 5 people dont know music

  • Great song, just watched Eddie and the Cruisers part II again. I didn't realize the sax player in the movie was the real deal until I saw the credits. I saw them once opening for the Beach Boys at Poplar Creek probably in the late 80's and have to admit I enjoyed them more then the Boys. I remember it was raining before the concert and John Cafferty said it never rains at a Beach Boys concert and it didn't.

  • John Cafferty rules! ........and Eddie lives!

  • Great movie and excellent soundtrack.

  • @casperourdog Yes a great movie of the eighties!

  • great sax playing. he makes u feel the song

  • havent heard this song in yearss...brings back good memories of my childhood:D

  • Where is the "Love it" button?? lol

  • man fawk!! i'm a old bad azz from way back, but this fawkn song stops me in my tracks everytime :) it just not just the era this came out in, its just a pure bad azz tune up there with thorogood thanx 4 posting it man, this song just has that feel thats in tune with my person 100%

  • i,m still in love with this man to this day,,come get me music man,,,,,

  • the 80s,,we all wore bandanas, and big fat sunglasses,,and we all loved eddie and the crusiers, aka, john cafferty and the beaver brown band,,was tyhere any better????hell no,,,

  • to jcp0129eek: I don't think you can compare him to the Boss, but it's all a matter of opinion, isn't it. It just looks to me like he is trying hard to copy Bruce's mannerisms, clothes etc. Good music anyway....

  • Seriously? Who fucking cares if he dresses like Springsteen or holds his guitar like Springsteen, HE ISNT SPRINGSTEEN! How many bands and singers today dress exactly alike and play the same genre of music that sounds alot alike!! SHUT THE FUCK UP LOSERS! Enjoy the fucking music, thats what its made for! JESUS CHRIST! .....fucking morons!

  • @brandydianne Rock On!

  • Why do people always want to compare? Please don't compare, John can sing Bruce well......................it my opinion, not. Sorry Springsteen fans..............Oh yeah and you can understand John.........

  • I'm a huge sprintsteen fan, and I love the first Eddie/Cruisers movie. But does anybody else see the Bruce similarities in this video? He's dressed exactly like The Boss did in 1984, and holds his guitar the same way. Go check out Bruce's live stage performances from the Born in the USA years.

  • @jonigirl275 yeah, i see the similarity jonigirl...but then again many of the bands from the 60's and 70's dressed alike...so what does it matter...John Cafferty was a genius as was The Boss...just freaking enjoy the genius!

  • What a voice own this cd and the movie this is one of the best voices ever

  • wow.. anyone know the meaning of fiction? PRODUCERS wanted a story like the Doors but more wholesome ya know like the Boss.. Otta Joisey bunch of talented wise guys ya know but with flair .. don't get me wrong I love the story of Eddie Even pt.2... has its points.... seriously though lets never forget that it a LOT like the Monkeys.

  • anyone defending this guy against being a copycat springsteen is fooling only themselves hahaha

  • @turbo378 There is more to music then the voice. I'm not defending anyone, i'm not a die hard Beaver Brown fan but really folks. Actually fucking listen to the music. There isent really a comparison to E street and these guys.

  • @formermmaman dude, look at the way the man dresses himself. Thankyou.

  • I always felt Eddie and the Cruisers was odd because the movie was set in the early 60s and the band was playing music that was essentially Bruce Springsteen like. This is like rewriting history.Nobody in the early 60s was playing anything close to that kind of music. It would be like having a movie set in the early 80s and using a band that sounds like Pearl Jam. Why didn't they have sound closer to the Beatles or even the Beach Boys or Roy Orbison? That would be historically accurate.

  • @baxtersave96 Let me explain. The whole point of the movie was that eddie staged his his death. The reason for it was he was writing music that was ahead of his time, (Like you said) The producers wanted him to pump out the beatles, beach boys sounding songs but he refused thus faking his death. Thats why.

  • @formermmaman I saw the movie .I realize it was supposed to music ahead of its time I just thought that for him to be that much ahead of his time is ridiculous. Music evolved over the years. You just can't skip over a step in that evolution and it expect to be credible.

  • @formermmaman Kinda like Brian Wilson, I've always thought. But instead of faking his death B. W. merely went into a downward spiral of drugs and insanity. So glad he came back to us though,

  • The music is pure because they didn't have to impress anyone to make it, Springsteen, Cafferty, they all climbed their way out of blue collar..they had day jobs to pay the bills so they could put real heart into the music. That is the difference, nobody polishing their sound...

  • I miss the good real music, where music came from the heart and the music just sinks in deep in your heart, thats the kind of heart filling music I love...these songs will stay in my heart.. "ALWAYS"...I dont care much about todays crap.

  • cross between rock and r and b

  • I would HATE to follow this band up on stage.. I think I'd just lay my guitar down and bow.. NO WAY to even THINK of playing as well as these men.

  • Love john's voice, it's very soothing. We need more music like this these days, and the saxophone adds a perfect quality that todays music lacks. Eddie and the cruiser's was a great movie paying tribute to cafferty's music and Michael Pare makes a pleasing performance that I sometimes forget that he's not really singing it, but it seems that the music and michael are a perfect togrther.

  • forget bruce john is the east coast rocker so what he didnt get as big this is real music it makes the ladies melt and the pussies wet lol

  • Just watched this back to back movies and it still captivates! Michael Pare is a dream come true in this part...........Oh Yes!

  • Rocky Radio .... The real Eddie and the Cruisers!

  • ok .. is just me or do they sound like a Springsteen cover band??

  • @fatima55 Springsteen and John Cafferty The Beaver Brown Band are both East Cost Rocker. They been around since 1970 but didn't hit the Mainstream until the 80's. Most notably when they did the soundtrack for the movie Eddie and the Crusiers 1 & 2(Great Movies). Do they sound alike... YEAH, But still 2 totally different sounds. If you are referring to the Sax and the Scruffly Voice... in my opinion thats the sound of an East Coast Rocker.

  • @fatima55 and all country singers sound like Johnny Cash , nope , sorry must be just you

  • @fatima55 Actually Bruce got his look from John. John just did not get as famous as Bruce Spingsteen. Some say both borrowed from each other. Mostly we'll never know.

  • @fatima55 ..its just you....

  • We spent so many nites at Gullivers and down the beach following Beaver Brown.....so AWESOME they made it to the top!! RI is proud guys!

  • ''Eddie and the Cruisers" and Eddie and the Cruisers "Eddie Lives" both great movies.. have'em both. Love the Music

  • ''Eddie and the Cruisers" and Eddie and the Cruisers "Eddie Lives"

  • One of my favorite movies, and favorite song. I use Tender Years as my screen name and named my car Turbo Audi, Tender Years. Thank You, TenderYears, Apple Valley California aka: Glorious

  • Yes Michael is prettier...but he couldn't have been Eddie without the Voice...

  • i seen the movie 25 years ago i dont name of movie ?

  • HAHA EVERY TIME I SEE THIS GUY SINGING THIS I THINK "HE DOESNT DO IT, EDDIE WILSON DOES!!!" LOLZ

  • Poor John Cafferty didn't make face in the Eddie movies. :( Sorry John, Michael Pare is prettier...

  • Good movies and good music.

  • POOR MANS Bruce Springsteen WTF are you talking about , Bruce is famous for singing the working mans blues and you make a stupid comment like that I bet you voted for Bush hey let me go let me go the FCC is here sry guys

  • Bands These Days Should Get Some Sax in There lol I Love The Sax lol :P

  • Lovvvvvvvvvve iiiiiiittttttttttt

  • when it comes to movies and their sequels....this would have to be my #1. Usually the sequels fail hard but not this one.

  • Every time I play this video I get chills. Tunes can really belt it out on that sax.

  • poor mans bruce springsteen

  • want to learn to play this on piano

  • now this is music with real heart and soul in it...not the noise coming out extra radio free perades crap thumping up and down the street shouting mess that won't be remembered very long . why do you think that all the good movies use lasting time tested music like this ,even in the commercials you hear on tv. think about it you will see....

  • @katzruler hell yeah I totally agree with you 110% this is totally heart music... I can't stand that rap crap either, it's bull shit!!

  • Just remember folks that without this great talented singer and band ....Eddie and the cruisers will not even exist. Im so greatful for this band to be able to inspire such a brilliant movie that means so much to me. I take my hat of to them.

  • I love this band! I can dance to it! I love the movie too even part 2

  • Before Eddie & the Cruisers was made, we used to see John Cafferty & the Beaver Brown band in the local clubs here in CT regularly with Toads Place being the first club I saw them in. I heard of them before Springsteen. Sure, sound is similar, but these guys made a name for themselves before Bruce at least as far as I'm concerned.

  • i watch this video and all i canthink about is my ex and how i screwed things up with me and her wishing i could have the chance to fix things but i still have trouble with her . she is the only one i want to be with and i wish this song could tell her ow i feel , i want to spend my life with her but dont know what she wants . ;((((((

  • OMG I can listen to this tune over and over just for the sax man! Can this guy play sax or what?

  • Preciosa canción!!!!

  • does it really matter who sounds like who? The end point is that They are great artists regardless.

  • They are both from Jersey, but does he sound like Springsteen yes who cares he is still a talent and deserves respect, theres plenty of room for stardom, the most important thing as Eddie Wilson would say "Is the music"! I don't give 2 shits that he sounds like Springsteen the songs are well written and stand the test of times ,Enough Said!

  • @BastardLord666 John Cafferty is from Rhode Island....not New Jersey. They did however play there and had a pretty strong following.

  • caferty sounds like himself, springsteen sound like springsteen. show some respect to caferty as an artist. he wrote and performed the songs in both cruisers movies. that takes some talent, and the cruisers movies most likely hurt his chances in making it as big as springsteen because the movie shadowed the real talent behind the movie.

  • Springsteen II

  • It sounds (and looks too ! omg) too much to Springsteen that it looks like a parody, when you know Springsteen already. But John seems to do it seriously though. It's THAT similar.

  • Springsteen didn't get the soundtrack for Eddie and the Cruisers because he was busy making his own albums, and would've turned it down. In 1984, Born in the U.S.A. was released, propelling Bruce to mega stardom. He was the hottest thing in the world, so naturally they got someone who sounded like him.

  • John is still the man no matter eddie movies or not!!!!!!

  • still a good movie..and part 2 eddie lives my all time favorite rock movie

  • I don't think John and Bruce sound anything alike at all. I love them both, but I like John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band much better.

  • @ArtistWriterEditor ...you can't be serious, he's got Springsteen's sound down 100% from his vocalizing to the Clemons-like sax intro and the Phil Specter-like bells that accompany it. It's a terrific formula and he does well with it and that's fine if you prefer Cafferty but to say they sound nothing alike makes me wonder if you've even ever heard Springsteen.

The ending piano here is gorgeous.

  • i hate to admit it it but years ago when i first seen the movie for a long time i thought it was a real band. good movie great tunes

  • One of the KINGS of Asbury Park! Great tunes, good times!!!

  • @Just4Meeeee

Asbury Park, so many years ago.... From the West Coast, didn't think much of Asbury Park, only there for a few hours, just before a long trip to Vietnam...I hope things are better.

  • As Some posts suggest, that the Boss was better, then why did Cafferty get the Soundtrack and not the Boss???? Somebody saw the great talent and music. Thumbs up for this band.

  • lol such a bruce wana-be !

  • its just a video, the music is recorded. they just took a video of them performing this song and made it sound good .

  • If you've seen the movies the sax player should look familiar. His name is Michael "Tunes" Antunes. He played the roll of Wendall Newton, the sax player for the cruisers. Great sound.

  • They never headlined a major concert, always opening up. I saw them in Providence RI 20 years ago and they were outstanding.

  • Man, Bruce looks rough.

  • @randomartist01 i'll agree, he sounds a little like the boss, but the record deals didn't pull in like the boss. i guess john didn't have what they wanted. i bet bet the real boss laughed his ass off,,,,, still a good sound trac song.

  • Great, but obviously a heavy-duty Springsteen influence. Many would say too obvious?

  • @stubkar I would say better than Springstein in many ways. I saw these guys in CT at a Casino with Beaver about 4-5 years ago. I met The sax players dad. It was a great show. It is too bad they did not keep producing and touring.

  • @stubkar i could think of worse artists to be influenced by, if your gonna take elements it's better to be from the Boss than say the other stuff going around the world in the 80's

  • Great, but obviously a heavy-duty Springsteen influence. Many would say too obvious?

  • @stubkar Since I'm still laughing at this video, I'd certainly be inclined to say yes, it's a little too on-the-nose as influences go.

  • wat some of u might not know is that before they were known as John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band they were known as "Beaver Brown" before Eddie and the Cruisers came out. And before the movie came out they recorded Wild Summer Nights/Tender Years for Coastline Records and the two songs are the original different versions from the movie versions.

  • Geez, he looks like Bruce Springsteen here. Always loved this song, but now seeing the Springsteen resemblance, I can almost hear Bruce singing it.

  • I lived in North Providence Rhode Island and grew up with John Cafferty and Bob Cottoia. Used to listen to them play at Gulliver's in Smithfield Rhode Island in the 1970's. Loved them then and love them now. So sad when Bobby died several years ago.

  • dis was the original frm these guys! eddie n the crusiers was jus da movie. but love this song!

  • I was going to Smithfield High School (In Smithfield, Rhode Island) when JC and The BBB were at their HOTTEST! Great seeing and hearing this!

  • @JohnnySkillish I grew up in North providence Rhode Island with both John Cafferty and Bobby Cottoia. Was so saddened when Bobby die several years back. Used to see them play at Gulliver's in Smithfield Rhode Island in the seventies.Remember when Bobby was in a band in high school with the drummer Sal Guglimino. I live in New Jersey now and saw them in the eighties at Six Flags Great Adventure. LOved them then and love them now . Rock on guys.

  • @MrTerryDes I actually worked with Bobby for a few years in radio and he would come over to my house a couple of days a week and give me keyboard lessons! It was really sad about him passing...nice guy....

  • I love you bruce sprinsteen aka ''the bos'' wooohoooo

  • I know he's lipsynching, but is he doing it to his own voice?

  • This song brings back so many memories of my childhood, my dad passed on a love of music. The saxophone makes me think of my grandfather! Thanks for sharing

  • That Sax player is Michael tunes Antunes who was in Eddie and the cruisers as Wendal Newton.

  • Yep he's lip syncing alright. But he did write and sing the song so I guess he's allowed.

  • John, If you are reading this, it was great to you, Antoones and the boys on Sunday for the fundraiser, Rhode Island Rocks 4 HAITI. You still have all the gusto you have always had. We & you, are the class of 1969 , North Providence High. It was great for many of us there from our class, to see you perform. It looked more like the old days at Gulliver's in Smithfield, on Tuesday nights, 1973~ LOL

Thanks for contribution to the concert fundraiser man-- it meant a lot to everyone.

  • Micheal "Tunes" Antunes on Sax just magical

  • Just bought tickets today for his show in May....soooo excited, can't wait!! Never thought I would have the chance to see this band live, being on the West Coast.

  • Where !!!! ???

  • @ualsdguy Silver Reef Casino, near Bellingham, WA in May

  • I've been a Bruce Springsteen for 30 years....

    (since I was 7)

I remember John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band when they hit big in 1984.

Yes... you can see the influence from the E street band.

    So what! Love these guys!

    enjoy!

    mell!

  • What in the world is this guy doing an Eddie Wilson impression?Just kidding.

Whats funny is in my opinion his voice fits Michael Pare better than it does himself.Great voice either way.

  • You know... I totally agree. I am 26 years old and my mother loves Michael Pare and we used to always watch Eddie and Cruisers together. The voice fits Michael more than it does John.

  • How would you like to have been bruce springsteen watchin this video back in the day at that time.?.?.?.... he totally discredited and cheapened any identity bruce had forged up to that point....

you would have had to immediately throw your entire wardrobe out, pick up some new stage moves, and start over in attempt of desperately separating yourself from john cafferty - and pray that no one picked up on it.

i'm not even a big bruce fan... but its so obvious

  • You do realize that John Cafferty had that look long before Bruce right? And bruce copied him. Its just Bruce got more famous than John. Hell even on Wikipedia John Cafferty gets slammed as a Bruce springsteen band or clone. When really he has had the look and sound all along dude. Its just one of those music industry rip offs. Happens all the time.

  • No... I didn't realize that... nor have I ever heard or found anything to suggest that Bruce copied JC...

I do know that JC and BBB was predominantly a cover band playing in RI up unit 1980 when they recorded their first original music... I think Bruce had a couple of albums out by then "born to run, darkness..., the river...

I have heard of bruce drawing similarities to others (Dylan, V Morrison)....BUT never JC and BBB - doesn't make a lot of sense when you track their career paths?????

  • this guys on eddie and the cruisers

  • Very nice!!!!

  • Love John and Wendell!!

  • th end is hauntingly pretty!

  • fantastic video...love John's music. I watch "Eddie" over and over again..

  • I saw them live in Rhode Island in the late 80s. They were OUTSTANDING live. Between sets they'd come out to the audience and talk with everyone. Very cool.

  • RIP mamma i miss u so much n this makes me think of u every time i hear it 57-01

  • it really would suck to sound so much like someone iconic because thats all youd hear who you sound like, but jc is a great song writer and he is a good singer

  • @Dravenswraith

they were hired by the movie studio to sound like bruce...get a clue

  • thats real funny Bruce Springsteen lmao;]

  • watch Eddie and the cruisers.. 1 and 2 ... there both great movies.

  • @smokinryno i was in the audience when they were filming for audience shots for the second movie i think. we all were told to put our fists in the air and chant "eddie! eddie!" it was before bon jovi came out for his show. fun!

  • sax is mikey

    antunes

  • wtf?..........Bruce Springsteen?

  • reminds me of all the good times i had with my mom. i miss her greatly.

  • this song is awesome!

  • His voice is still this good! I see him each year at the Stone Pony here in Jersey.

  • his voice is awesome

and love the saxphone its so awesome

love the movie eddie and the cruisers

  • @rockerbitch18 yessssss he rocks eh ......the sax gives me chillls his voice isss frickin passsion

  • I just have to stop typing beyound my talent and slow down. Too damn many errors. lol But you get my points.

  • Machael Pare and the rst of the group did an outstanding job protraying the soundtrack. And yes it does remind me of Bruce and the E street. But unless you ve spent time in Jersey and the shore you wouldn t understand this aspect. I m an old Georgis Boy that had the pleasure of performing in AC for several times. I know the feeling and the sound. It s as real as the Southern Rock sound. It s all so dan good.

  • Eddie and the cruisers was great! But the sax solo at the end is what makes this song. its beautiful!

  • The sax at the end is really nice but I like when the piano is playing solo from 4:18 to 4:38

  • kinda reminds me of bruce springsteen and the e street band

  • i've always thought that too..the who123444 :)

  • rocky IV heart's on fire - his best song

  • I Love John Cafferty & TBBB's music but I've watched Eddie & The Cruisers and Eddie Lives! a hundred times so every time I see John's face it's still weird lol. It just doesn't fit his voice... and I LOVE THE BOSS!!! I don't think he sounds like Bruce really.. I've got all of Springsteen's albums and I don't hear it??

  • I agree with you!! Cafferty has a more soulful sound in his vocal's.

This sing could be a Hit Today, Just Beautiful!

  • ...or backtracked, for that matter!

John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown were awesome nontherless!

  • JOHN CAFFFERTY was some times mistaken for the boss.'Bruce Springsteen'.... He had a great voice and the band to back him up!!! I just wander where did 'He' go. lol!!! Where did you go John??

  • @bonotee

    youtube.com/watch?v=hdkslD6ujEE&feature=related

  • One true fact 'bout the show Solid Gold was that every performer(s) appeared on there lip synced---solos or groups!

  • Comment removed

  • so what if he liped sync he still sang the songs on the sound track? And for the record I think in my mind what they mean by solid gold is this song hit gold sold lot of record

  • my brother worked on the Eddie & the Cruisers movie... he had a cassette of the proposed soundtrack as the film was being shot -- this song and On the Dark Side sounded great the first time I heard them then, and they both still sound great today. The Sax is what makes it so similar to Bruce, but John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band had their own sound that was relevant then as now.

  • he's definitely lip syncing

  • That's not a revelation. Every artist that performed on "Solid Gold" lip sync'd. It was accepted back then.
