Man this crash is only something you should see in a video game and not real life. It is really terrifying watching something like this. Very very brutal.
thank you for posting this, i dotn follow this sport, but never the less, its still very sad to hear of anyone passing. esp someone as young as him. with a wife and kids left behind. RIP
p.s. : It was offcially announced that the crash occurred on turn 2 , lap 13- not lap 12.
Thirteen...not a lucky number. Ironic also that in 2006 at Homestead, the last time open wheel saw a fatality in the U.S. (Paul Dana), the race was won, I am pretty sure, by Dan Wheldon.
Thanks for the video, this one was the best on Youtube of this event's coverage, of the 130 I'd had in my history. The only single one I found which was in 1080p, too.
it's just so sad is all, but your video covered all the bases on this tragic, heartfelt story (on the day it all happened).
Tragic, dark day for Indycar. A terrible weck; probably the worst ever in Indy history.
This accident was confluence of chain reactions at the worst possible track placement. I'd have to agree with the commentary I've heard on this crash, that it was indeed the catch fence that caused Dan Wheldon's fatal injuries. Had his car not been riding above another car- the green one, I think it's possible he could've survived the incursion because his car would have stayed lower to the ground.

There's nothing more moving and sorrowful, and yet somehow beautiful than "Amazing Grace" played on bagpipes.
We will all die, but few of us die doing what we love; what we have chosen to do and do dmaned well, with out compromise.

That's certainly the truth; few do go out doing what they love. What happened shouldn't have happened but what happened, happened.
