  • I hope Britain doesn't do the ethnic group thing, we'll have about 500 people trying to follow. -.-

  • Hmm Its Great I Think it is excellent as could be a ceremony.......!!!

  • Why does everyone make such a fuss about people running round really fast in a circle, jumping into a pool, or throwing some shit down a field? It's all bullshit, and as an English citizen, I will probably be the only one who is glad if our opening ceremony is quaint and underfunded, that's the British way.

  • @MrHickzy I agree. All these olypics stuff is pretty gai. They should have Gallaghar smash some expensive stuff. Like that damien hurst skull. That would be an opening ceremony for sure.

  • @MrHickzy I feel sorry for you :(

  • LONDON, the very last thing you may compare with BEIJING opening is MrBean, with the chance of 1% only should I say?! :)

  • i wonder how would london performs??? =)) im waiting for more suprises from european country

  • @jennypuyang Expect a huge disappointment :( London will be nowhere near Beijing.

  • Oh dear. London's got a pretty big plate to step up to. Five thousand years of high culture vs conquest by the Romans, a Dark Age, a bunch of people killing each other and then lots and lots of colonialism.

  • This is the best olympic opening ceremony I have seen so far! The amount thoughts and hard work that has beeen put into this must be unbelievable

  • @kungaadik Is Philippines a country by the way?

  • @vjcolfax: PHILIPPINES is a country.. DUH..!!!

  • NOT GOOD! Philippines was not included! BIAS!

  • Well done china on your amazing success of the olympic 2008 it will not be forgotten! Is there anyone out their with info how i can get my hands on any dvds of the opening ceremony to the closing ceremony? I would love to have it....its been 4yrs for me to search it out thank u cheers:)

  • Stupid Chinese... Bunch of show-offs!

Haha, in all seriousness I think this is like ten years ahead of anything in the world. The effort they put into it and money is insane. Absolutely amazing.

  • From this, it is evident that the Chinese will take over the world in a great battle called "The Great Adjustment".

  • Can't believe it has been 3 years ago since this one felt like yesterday I saw this.

  • @MaleBosszz Yes, and in just 8 months the will be another nice opening in London (I hope). I read that is going to be directed by Dany Boyle (Trainspotting, Slumdong Millionaire, Sunshine). I cant wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @spanier24 sorry but its done whit mr bean.

  • Good show, but not as good as the greek one:)

  • @MrsYotavril NO.

  • Try and try but no one can match this I'm sorry but all other Olympics will be child's play

  • If you pity London, just look at our new years celebrations. London will be amazing.

  • I m so pity for LONDON........

  • At 1st I thought it was photoshop ...watch closely cant believe what I've seen ! The Ceremony is Amazing ! Proud to be Asian , Proud to see the world in Peace

  • 3:28 haha.

  • Guys, imagine the fire didn`t ignite on 12:31 - 12:34 ; ) I`d concieve the state of Chinise president & all nation on that very minutes. the best olympics opening ceremony ever!

  • the BEST Olympics opening!

  • the BEST Olympics opening!

  • Throughout history we have stains, stains on the Earth from our pollution, stains on our past from our endless wars and strife, stains that are shameful to a race as great and intelligent as humans. However, it is at moments like these, moments of international unity, where we all come together under a single banner of athletic competition and companionship that we can see a country's beauty and potential, and see how futile war is.

At moments like these I am proud to be called a human.

  • thumbs up if you still watch this, more than 3 years after it's finished. unforgetable history of sports was written in Asia, in China

  • I hope another ASIAN COUNTRY will host the OLYMPICS... :D

Hands up for CHINA !! para unos Juegos Olímpicos espectaculares y bien organizado...

  • the whiteman from england invented everything including these olympic tournments, we had the biggest empire, china india and asia are all backward races compared to my race

  • @Jimmyretired Is that the environment from yr parents and nations you had brought up from?

  • @Jimmyretired wow, people listen: UK people said their race is better than other race!! if you sais this 100 years ago maybe some people agree that.China and India are young and strong men, UK is an old lady, she was rich before,UK is gooding at talking,China and India are gooding at acting.what you can be pround of yourself is before, what we can be pround of is future.you are no more the biggest empire, however, all the people are the same, you are not better than others.

  • the greatest opening ceremony i ever seen. TOP! greeting from Thailand

  • Wow- after watching that Im genuinely worried how us Britons are going to compare in 2012!

  • el hombre que trae la bandera de GRECEE esta hermosooo!♥

  • muy padres ha sido lo mejor que he mirado !!!:)

  • Some Americans better shut up, roflmao. China beat you guys in every way. They are a superior country, and they will take over the world any year now. Quit crying, your terror around the globe will finally stop.

  • Propaganda

  • wow such a good opening ceremony but the comments by the ignorant chinese guy and MrSeekerofjustice ruined it. dont get me wrong im chinese as well but i dont think there is need of racist remarks like calling indians slaves. if only people could understand that everyone is different ...

  • this must have been a blast watching it live.

  • chinese are very disciplined people. congratulations. From cyprus.!

  • looking for London's

  • wow... can't wait till britain's opening ceremony!

  • Nice...but all lights and colours. Nothing powerful or emotional...just lots of people. That's why I think London will out-do this entirely.

  • what a great country

  • With Love from Kazakhstan!

  • Bautiful Beijing city! The best city of the World!

  • oh well, china is just getting more powerful and powerful.I am proud of the China Olympics ceremony as well.Although I am from hong kong and sometimes I dont feel like I am 'chinese' ... :)

  • @swaich1 I agree, I'd choose China to be a superpower over America any day.

  • Comment removed

  • we Chinese people are peaceful and love foreign visitors. I am glad so many visitors liked the olympics and helped the world keep the olympic spirit high!!!! We love the world!!!

  • The best opening ceremony ever. It was by far much better than Athens.

  • London will be alot better. London will get more than 1 million views in the first hours lol

  • @HaiLsKuNkY

yes, im sure the first thing people will do on the first hours of opening ceremony in london, is to turn on their computer and go watch it on youtube. :)

  • @HaiLsKuNkY Youtube is banned in China....

  • @tristan196432 , they've their own "youtube".

btw, with their population, their own version of youtube has users almost more than youtube.

  • FOI IMPRESSIONANTE A ABERTURA DESSES JOGOS. PARABENS PEQUIM (BEIJING)

    RIO 2016

  • greece and china have history and they shown it with their oponing ceremony LONDON??????????????//

  • @MrFotis87 Well the UK has a huge amount of history and has given a lot to the world as well, I'm sure they'll draw on that in the 2012 opening ceremony. I think people are being quite hard on London already.

  • POOR LONDON 2012.....

  • I'm an extremely loyal Englishman, but believe me when I say this...

Our opening ceremony will be shite compared to this! Unbelievable!!

  • @MattTY2J i believe people will focus more on what UK has done for Olympic..you try your best and it will be the best...people will be greatful to the country and people..good luck

  • man u just have 2 watch the FULL version!!!!

  • Leave it to the Chinese to deliver the most amazing opening ceremony.

  • There's nothing that chinese can't do. Love them so much♥

  • was amazing indeed, loved it. But i would hardly say London will be a joke. They wont spend the $ like China did, cause they don't have the money. But i am sure the brits will put on a great show.

  • @metroguy1978 i love to see something about Shakespeare in the opening ceremony

  • whats good about zina? absolutely NOTHING!

  • Astonishing !

  • oh lord.. good luck london...

  • EPIC!!

  • is that jackie chan? O.o

  • @mapleworld777 no he said the 29th olympic games

  • Yeah! RAFAEL NADAL..... WOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHOOOOO!

  • BEIJING HAD 7 YEARS TO PREPARE FOR THIS, AND I THINK THEY DID A WONDERFUL JOB, I WAS IN AWE.. BUT AS A LONDONER, I SO WANNA OUT DO THEM...COME ON LONDON LETS DO THIS RIGHT.

  • El señor que narra, porque no se calla?

Australia, greece, India..... the list goes on and on...

  • @MrSeekerofjustice how can u compare those to beijing opening ceremony...those were childsplay compared to this...if u say no..u think they are able to do what they did? thought so

  • Raaaaafaaaaaaaa!!!!

  • What an over rated ceremony!!

  • Sorry, but have you forgotten Athens in 2004??

The birthplace of the Olympic Games???

Beijing can't touch those ceremonies... can't touch the magic of Greece...

China you give us many things.... but you can't send the message about the importance of the Olympic Games!!!

These ceremonies was spectacular of course.... but it was more commercial!

  • Go The Aussies!!

  • WELL DONE CHINA, GREETS FROM SERBIA

  • oh man just shut up, nobody cares about what you say, commentator!

we want to see the show

  • I'm afraid the London Opening Ceremony will be an embarrassing, excruciating exhibition until the bomb scare and we end up just watching the stadium emptying. Of course if the British start showing off their contribution to the world then the ceremony would be tediously long.

  • SHUT UP!

  • i would give anything to go back on time, buy a ticket & watch it live -_- meeh

  • 1million in 3 years ????? ._. this video diserves more

  • 那, 我怎么能不爱中国?! 这就是不可思议的!

  • China's 21 century motto should be "Like a Boss!"

  • Bring On London 2012!

  • god.. us australians pm included just look like giant hillbillies

  • Best opening ceremony ever for an Olympics. No question. London will be a joke compared with this.

  • @syphorx7 ........ We're see about that

  • @syphorx7 No one expects London to be better. We'll do what we can to still make it an excellent occasion, though :)

  • @syphorx7 The opening ceremony in Athens was better. Lots of effects but no special meaning.

  • @ElvenQueen80 Oh! maybe because you do not know the meaning. But the rest of the world know the meaning very well.

  • @karmlan123 I know the story they portrayed , there were explanations but still it was only impressive in its numbers and it's easy to impress an audience when you have hundreds of performers.

It was nothing special, if nothing else it was boring and unimaginative.

  • @ElvenQueen80

you'd better learn how to respect others if you wanna people respect you in turn.

actually it's stupid to argue with you...

  • @22572008 Do what you preach hypocrite.

  • @syphorx7 Lol yeah, I hope its not embarrasing, being British. Although have you seen the mascotts? Can't be any worse than them.

  • this looks just like in south park

  • just GREAT

  • does he really have to narrate what's obviously on screen?!

  • Dude stfu :)))

  • 2:00 She was TOTALLY lipsynching!

  • @jasmin8ter2010 yeah

  • no doubt impressive, but what a contrast to athens 2004 opening. beijing glorifies discipline, while athens exuded the humanity and simplicity

  • @rocoreb hahaha a

  • @absemper1 yes, but ?????.....

  • Only reason USA has so many athletes is due to slave trade roots. COME ON BRITAIN!!!!

  • USA bejing Vermont

  • The new empire has arrived

  • its better than avatar thats for sure

  • The kind of mass unity and harmony demonstrated in these performances can only be achieved by the Chinese. It's almost telepathic. Sorry to say, but I just can't imagine any other race doing this...especially not those with individualistic cultures.

  • que piole q son estas olimpiadas .. estoy seguro q yo voy a estar en una algun dia...

  • best olympics ever!!!!

  • as much as I hate China for their human rights condition and other reasons this opening ceremony is absolutely heaven. How did they do it? It was awesome!

  • @duetothefore Dude those things that you think great in yr country will simply not going to work in large country such a China. China knows best what is good for itself, all outsiders need no worry nor comment. Just like what currently happening in this new era, which country in this planet is growing as strong and powerful as China with their current system. All biased comments by western media and netizens will simply provoke China to grow even faster. Thank you!

  • @karmlan123 "biased comments"?

I don't think so when you consider the human rights violations in China

    I wish to precise that I'm not a china-basher

I've got a profound respect & admiration for chinese culture and the chinese people and that's exactly why I believe that they deserve much better than a one-party system

You said "China knows best what is good for itself"...well I'll go one step further and say "Chinese PEOPLE knows best what is good for itself", so let it decide via democracy

  • 2.47 Great lil lip-syncer

  • this is visually good but boring I can't feel the spirit of olympics.. so my vote is for 2004 athens.. its like comparing autotune to real good voice
