Im a ex former soldier, and im workin my way to become a private security, overseas, somalia costline or where ever they send me,is not about killing like people thing or be a rambo,is about a personal future,is about a sons, a familys,in this crazy times,i thing you net to have a big courage to become or dicide to be a private security,in the end of the day US we are the real warriors,in this HELL world, and free SPIRITS.
currently at college workin on a degree for law enforcement and then going to hopefully one day land a contracting job and futher serve my country. Thanks to anyone in the military, law enforcement, or private sector.
But are private military and security companies (PMSCs) mercenaries? No.
Blackwater ruined the name of PMSCs by occasionally crossing the line between defence and offence. However, for the most part PMSCs provide contracted services that governments and organisations cannot realistically and viably provide themselves. In essence, they are just security guards in extremely hostile environments. Without them nothing would go ahead in development, reconstruction, or in broader human security.
Contractors or military, doesn't matter. They all fight the wrong wars and die meaningless deaths for profit or politics. It's not only sad but also irresponsible that mankind is pushing itself towards dehumanization and enslavement for the benefit of a few.
@FictionCautious Maybe so, but there always have been an always will be mercs. I am workin my way to bein overseas in about a year as a PSC. Frankly, i could be makin tween 800 and 1500 dollars a day and run a lower chance of dyin than if i drove on the highway to work each day here at home. I look at it as a way to support my girl and pay for our lifestyle. It will also help support our future children and provide a job i can always go back to. It is stability and protection for me an mine.
@RealisticSigma Mate, your bravery and commitment to your family is honorable.
But the odds you are giving out are completely wrong as their are not 300 million PSCs in Iraq to do the comparison, to say the driving public. I can guarantee your lady would rather have you safely home working your way up in a business, than coming home in a box.
@RealisticSigma Unless you're a high speed death-machine with 10+ years in CAG or a Tier 1, the contracts paying that amount are few and far between. I'm a former Marine infantryman, been doing it for about 6 years now in both Iraq and Afghanistan and the most I ever made was 700 a day doing mobile PSD, and that was a $500 normal daily rate + a $200 bonus for a month in which I forfeited my vacation. I'm convinced I'll never see those pay rates again as well, at least not here.
@m249a1 Thats it man, some times I feel real pity when I meet a sheep who has never been anywhere or did anything that had real meaning or made a real impact.
Is there a way to become a contractor without having previous military experience by taking many tactical courses offered to civilians?
