Honestly, this movie freaks me out more than most horror movies. Just the whole concept is enough to make you shiver. Mothers, don't show this to your children unless you hide all of your buttons and dolls first.

In Germany, It has got FSK 6, which says recommanded for 6year old children and older. Would be like the BBFC PG classification, I guess.

But I have to admit, it scared even me as an adult ;). When I reread the definitons, FSK recommends it for 9years and older. Before the age of 9, the children might not be able to distinguish between fiction and reality.

Why don't they make a sequel? I would love it. This is like my favorite movie. I like creepy movies, but my best friend Brandi's like "No we cant watch it!!! IT IZ SCAREH" I know this took like, Idk..... 9 years to make, but I have another plotline! Here: Coraline is all grown up and mairred (To whom I will not spoil) and they have a adventurous little daughter Mimi and a couragous son named Mido. The pink palace still stands, and the other mother contructed another key, said to be unbreakable.

I know a lot, if not most people, don't usually like the movies that've been made based on books and although I admit I don't like some of the changes they made for the movie that differs from the book I can still appreciate the movie as something great :D I'm happy to own them both even though I still prefer the book to the movie. Personally it feels like they toned down the movie since I find the book to be creepier. The movie has it's creepy moments -pokes Other Mother with sowing needle- >.>

Even when I got scared, I couldn't put down the book! O_O And by the time I finished it, I couldn't sleep that night. I had nightmares of the other mother's hand creeping into my room for 2 days...

@Sanriko I know. I read it when I was 12 or so and I found the book deeply uncanny. But I'm glad it is that way. Apparently Neil Gaiman (the man, who wrote the book) claims, that most younger readers view it just as another adventure story. It's the older readers and adults who get nightmares, because they can get all the beautiful psychological horror in it. I loved both the book and the movie, even though it caused a great deal of paranoia for me. ^^

@jordan1650 UP made me cry, this movie didn't. But wait, I LOVE Coraline... is just that UP is more touching for just showing simple things of life, the guys of Pixar are genius. I think that's it, it doesn't matter how does the movie look, what they reward are the feelings in it. There's a magic moment in every Pixar movie that brings tears to my eyes, they deserve every Oscar.
