  • Up In The Air. One of the best movies ever. period.

  • I feel i can relate a lot to the character, minus the alcohol and promiscuity. everything down to her wardrobe, posture, eating habits, taste in music, sense of humor, going to high school in a small town and leaving to a big city etc. "mom, you don't even realize how much work i have to do."

  • for god's sake, if you're gonna review the woman, stop pronouncing her name wrong. It's like nails on a chalkboard! "tha-RONE"... say "throne" with an extra syllable.

  • @taoofmike Hey buddy, it's amazing how wrong you are. Watch the Between Two Ferns episode with her where she explains how to pronounce her name. You will see that it is in fact, There-in, the way I'm saying it. Thanks mate!

  • @taoofmike It actually IS pronounced like "ther-in." Charlize has said that's how she prefers people to say it. Wow, now you just look like a fucking asshole, don't you? :)

  • This movie is definitely about the obsessive desperation that people experience when suffering severe depression and it does a very good job at exploring that. Watching this film was a very uncomfortable experience for me because of how much I related to the main character... which of course is not a good thing, haha. At least it made me realize that I was on the wrong path in life and needed to make drastic life changes.

  • ~Very fine review Chris~

~My fav is "Up In The Air"~

    ~I'll give this a shot~

  • Expand your knowledge of mental illness. When you do you'll realise people like this really exists and the behaviours are borderline sociopathic and perhaps even narcissistic. The reason why people like this character walk around so freely manipulating and fucking with people is that the average man has no knowledge of what they are capable of and what they are.

  • @Abbi81able Expand your knowledge of me. Do you know that I worked specifically with mentally handicapped people for two years? Also, the whole point is mute because I never once said in this video that her character was unbelievable or unrealistic.

  • @ChrisStuckmann why would I expand my knowledge of you? Who are you? Never heard of you before. My point isn't mute, it's not even moot you twit. Expand your lexicon.

Your claim that pointing out Borderline Personalities, Sociopaths and Narcissists walk amongst us is, i quote "mute" because you never said the character was unbelievable or unrealistic is, dare I say MOOT.

Carry on with your self importance. You might want to start expanding your knowledge by first reading about narcissists.

  • Extremely tough decision, but I have to say "Juno".

  • Pedolaugh @ 1:08

  • Up in the Air

  • I appreciate your film review on this, I def, want to go see this film.

  • Love your review and as you know, I absolutely loved this film..And thanks to you, I now realize, I mispronounced Miss Theron's name.

  • I don't know man, it looks like a documentary from the clips you showed me, and I'm not into documentaries.

  • Do some research. It's not supposed to be a movie about character redemption. It's simply a character that's rotten to the core, and there is no crowd-pleasing ending - intentionally done so. Not all of us learn, not all of us know or care to redeem ourselves. This is why this movie stands out.

  • @writingme Have you even seen the film yet bud? It isn't released until the 16th. Also, you do realize a B is a GOOD grade right? Just because you are expecting to love this movie doesn't mean I have to.

  • @ChrisStuckmann they filmed this in my area

  • @ChrisStuckmann I admit I'm a big fan of Theron and I've read everything there is to read about this movie without having actually seen it - which is the main requirement to say anything constructive, true. But a major talking about, and the source of all of its buzz, is the very fact that the movie defies Hollywood mainstream convention and purposefully avoids any attempt at pleasing its audience by redeeming its intensely unlikable main character. This wasn't addressed in your review.

  • @writingme To be honest writingme it's because my whole channel prides itself on not spoiling anything, and that's very much an aspect of the film's conclusion, so I try to avoid giving things away.

  • @ChrisStuckmann Okay, fair enough. Sorry if I was being a bit abrasive. If you feel my postings are suggestive to the story's conclusions feel free to delete them.

  • @writingme Hey it's no problem bro, I appreciate constructive remarks! Thanks for watching =)

  • @ChrisStuckmann I feel like this comment thread isn't going to get the complete arc or redemption I usually like to see

    great review Stuckmann!

  • @ChrisStuckmann Not true it came out the 9th!

  • Without having seen this movie I can say that extreme depression can lead to extreme behavior. This is because the person in question is suicidal and they usually figure what can it hurt to go the extra mile and push the envelope that much harder. Anyways great review.

  • @Unworshipediety That is entirely true. As someone who's experienced that, it can leave you jaded and performing behaviors with no concern for their consequences. Definitely not a good path to take in life, haha!

  • Great Review! Oh btw SEE THANK YOU FOR SMOKING! It's amazing :P

  • Thank You For Smoking was excellent bye the way.

  • I love all of Jason Reitman movies, i think he is one of the best filmmakers of our generation.. My favorite of his has to be Up In The Air

  • my favorite of his movies is thank you for smoking.

  • Favorite Jason Reitman film? Juno.

  • Hmmm, can't wait to see what Catherine Reitman has to say about this one, considering the director is her brother......

  • Best opening joke EVER!

  • I like slutty bitches !!

  • Thank You For Smoking's the only incredible film he's done so far, Up In The Air could've been better. and like MooezS said; Juno was poorly scripted and inconsistent.

  • I probably wouldn't like this if the main character is unlikable. I hated Gone with the Wind because of this.

  • I really want to see this movie. I like bitchy characters. I wouldn't stand them in really life but in movies and tv shows they are so fun!

My favourite Reitman movie is Thank You For Smoking.

  • @BambuProductions The main character isn't so much a "bitch" but rather a person who's so depressed and jaded that she doesn't care about anything in life. And so when you don't care about any consequences to your actions, life becomes this avalanche of bad choices, behaviors, and actions.

  • Chris Stuckmann has the human skills to pay the bills! We robots enjoy your reviews.

  • is he related to catherine reitman?

  • Great review I'll probably see this and not all teenagers dont rent movies from libraries I do it all the time.

  • Great review!

  • glad to see i'm not the only one who goes to the library to rent movies.

  • thank you for smoking is really good. i liked it more than juno to be honest.

  • Up in the Air is one of my absolute favorite films.

  • Juno

  • JUNO

  • i tend to think id have a problem with this film seeing as how the main character does not seem likable, and is trying to ruin a marriage

  • Juno or Thank you for smoking...its somthing between

  • opening joke mad me -_-

  • Juno, definitely.

  • my favs are up in the air or thankyou for smoking (which you have to see!), does juno count?

  • Patrick Wilson AND Charlize Theron? Thats too much sexy for one movie.

  • Nice opening Chris!Great review

  • Thank You for Smoking is the only Jason Reitman film I actually love because it's a topical comedy/drama where Aaron Eckhart shined. I hated Juno for mostly the writing and stupid character shifts, and was indifferent to Up in the Air. He hasn't made much movies :P

  • sounds like my kind of porno

  • My favorite is between up in the air and thank you for smoking

  • Dude! Go see thank you for smoking!

  • The character realisation that you mentioned is probably what Reitman was trying to avoid as every movie character with those kind of dislikable qualities is expected to have a realisation or a comeuppance by the audience, so Reitman may have deliberately avoided that route.

And Thank you for Smoking because Sam Elliot got the most screen time in that one

  • Juno is my favorite Jason Reitman movie. I'm still intregued to see this movie.

  • Comment removed

  • Thank You For Smoking no wait Juno, no, Thank You for Smoking is the best!

  • I'm still on the fence about this movie. I liked Theron and Oswalt and the humor was good for the most part, but I also felt that it was Reitman's most disappointing film. If I were to rank his films, it'd be from favorite to least favorite: Up in the Air, Thank You for Smoking, Juno, Young Adult.

  • This looks like a Charlize Theron movie that i may actually see. I generally don't like her, but this looks funny as hell.

  • @ChrisStuckmann Thank you for Smoking is easily his best film and a must watch!

  • Just saw the advance screening a few hours ago and totally agree. Though Charlize Theron should get Best Actress nod here, perhaps her best performance since Monster. But my fav Reitman movie is Up in the Air, no question about it.

  • Up in the Air by a long shot personally.

  • This movie seems to mirror most of the women I meet in NYC.

  • chris do you have a blu ray player?

  • Juno. Up in the Air. Juno. Up in the Air.

  • 3rd reel? When does that happen? or is that just a loose term for the end part of the movie?

  • @Sammyonthelammy You see, in the old days when I was a young whipper snapper, movies played on reels of film, and often times the end of the movie is referred to as the third reel. Now everything is digital, and us old farts still use those old terms. It's like how movie previews are called trailers. They used to be at the end of the movie, they "trailed" the film. But they now play them before, and the name still sticks.

  • Thank You For Smoking - the M.O.D. Squad meeting is unforgettable. But Reitman works with J.K. Simmons so much I really have a tough time choosing favorite. I will watch ANYTHING J.K is in

  • Up In The Air!

  • who the hell rents movies at libraries?

  • @zaneoninternet *raises hand* There are lots of DVDs at my local library and as long as I return them on time the price is nice

  • @zaneoninternet People who aren't teenagers.

  • @ChrisStuckmann I'm a teenager and I get films from the library.

  • @ChrisStuckmann excuse me!? im 16 and i love renting movies at libraries every other weekend! books too lol

  • @ChrisStuckmann i rent from the library...very easy access and free..(:

  • @zaneoninternet why wouldnt u? It's free!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @zaneoninternet People who read. You see, back when Chris was a young whippersnapper, people actually used to read these things called books for entertainment.

  • @zaneoninternet i rent movies there all the time ya frickin jackass

  • @bobertochuck well im sorry, i meant that as a real question. I had no idea you could. Im so sorry, if i offended you.

  • @zaneoninternet youdint ive just been waiting to use that line it takes a lot to offend me. like family guy times robot chicken + tosh.0 Xsouth park sorry to bother you

  • Nice, Chris. Also, I was in Peter Rallis's most recent Movie Buzz episode.

  • Up In The Air

  • up in the air ftw!

  • Up in the Air. That film is king except the ending. For me.

  • Up in the Air, but I've enjoyed Thank You For Smoking and Juno as well. One of the things I like most about his films are his protagonists. A tobacco lobbyist/father, a pregnant, smart, but naive girl, and a corporate downsizer who avoids connections. Looks like Theron won't disappoint.

  • Oh you have to see Thank You For Smoking! IMO it's Aaron Eckhart's best performance in a lead role! Great review btw

  • Lol, Stuckmann Square, really?

  • @burgerboot Yes really. And that's been for like 2 months. Really. User voted, I didn't choose.

  • @ChrisStuckmann I watch all your videos. I can't believe I haven't noticed. Well, if you're at Stuckmann Square, I shall buy a ticket to Stuckmann Square. i love your videos. Keep em up.

  • @ChrisStuckmann I like Stuckmann Square personally :) And I cannot say which one of his movies is my favourite because I only saw Up in the air. I really liked that movie though. And btw Chris will you get to see "The artist"? I'm seeing it this weekend

  • @burgerboot Maybe if you went to a library you could see how many classics are actually there...

  • Wow you seem to post these videos when ever I go online... I tend to be one of the firsts a lot.
