This particular tunnel isn't the one that goes under the sea, it goes through the north downs in Kent (Bluebell Hill) with regards to the Channel Tunnel itself, each end of the tunnel starts around 2 miles from the channel, therefore the track goes under ground at a very gradual incline.
Could someone please explain for me how does the tunnel work? To cross the channel under the sea must be a really deep level below land level, how does the land level of the tunnel connect to such a deep level below the sea, without a sharp drop?
