No offence, but it’s a Bearded Dragon not a Leopard Gecko. Have you even felt how tough/rough their backs are? Mealworms can barely break human skin so I can doubt they can bite his back easily. Plus, they come from Australia where something venomous/dangerous probably tries to eat/kill them everyday so I’m sure they’re built to withstand a Mealworm.

It was permanently kept on a chain--around its neck--that was tied to a stake in the ground. I heard it eventually died. i have a bearded dragon, it is 10 week old and it has just been moved into its new home 3 days ago. We have crickets and salad, it will eat a tiny corner of lettuce and lick the water off it however with the crickets it will only sometimes eat them if we dangle them above his head with tweezers - he won't chase them at all, and just sits while they climb on his head. help?

When I was a kid in South Australia, in the 1950s, a lady at the caravan park we were staying at, in Whyalla, used to have one of these lizards. It was permanently kept on a chain--around its neck--that was tied to a stake in the ground. I heard it eventually died. I hope your biology class is taking better care of this pretty little animal !!!! ♥

haha i luv it when you put a BD on a smooth and flat surface and you can sort of glide them gently along coz their claws cant grip onto anything.

@dresen10 I'm going to jump to his defense. It's not his bearded dragon, it's a class pet as he has said thousands of times in the info. If it was stressed it would show it by blackening its "beard". And for everyone else it's fine for a bearded dragon to pig out once in a while.

@crazzigirl56 Yeah he is in his agressive stance, on pins and needles, all his limbs stressed and his body high off the ground ready to bolt. Except thats a slippery surface so he knows he wont have traction so he is scared stiff.
Then he gets bombarded by loads of people, loud noise. He is freaking out. You dont have to even own a reptile to know that THIS is STRESSFUL to a lizard. hell that would stress out any small animal! Let alone a reptile.
THEY are worried of large animals watching them.

i have a bearded dragon, it is 10 week old and it has just been moved into its new home 3 days ago. We have crickets and salad, it will eat a tiny corner of lettuce and lick the water off it however with the crickets it will only sometimes eat them if we dangle them above his head with tweezers - he won't chase them at all, and just sits while they climb on his head. help?

How is this cruel? If a bearded dragon doesn't want to eat, he won't open his mouth, and they aren't forcing him to do so. They are being kind, really. It's probably in heaven surrounded by all that food!

those poor crickets.. helpless and abandoned.. not being treated with rights.. what are we going to do. you awful awful people. the crickets and those grubworms have rights just as much as me and you. all of that is in humaine. you should atleast slaughter them in a proper way before feeding that ferocious dragon. im so sick of all this insect abuse.. its just not fair.. we are are living creatures and should be united as one.

@twizzlerTrix I am vegetarian, and therefore I think a lot about animal rights. But it's nature for them to eat that. I can survive without eating an animal, they can't. They have to eat crickets in order to stay alive. And as horrible as it is, and as much as I don't like having to feed my bearded dragon live things, I have to to keep it alive. It's a quick death, anyway.
