  • I don't know about you but as far as "learning" to be gay, I've never heard another gay guy say that before. As far as kissing/making out with that guy on the dance floor, that should be instinctual or you just never kissed another guy before. Sure, it's tough when you first come out and I think we have all lived that awkward moment of having to fly solo into our first gay bar. It's exciting and scary at the same time. You don't know what to expect. You end up having fun & you never look back.

  • Protip: mdma makes dancing 10x better.(also sex) hehe

  • "the gay life is a fun one, but you have to becareful" :D hahaha

  • i wish i could make friends with straight people :/

  • @the8D8D8D i would like to have gay people as friends because that's just cool! not that they're any different but they seem so open-minded and nice! i don't see myself as gay but when i am with my friends, i can feel so uncomfortable when they're making a big thing about having a partner of the same sex and i'm like: what's the deal?! i just have this feeling that (many) gay people don't make such a deal about it :)

  • I've been watching some of your vids and just wanted to say you're a pretty cool dude. keep on rockin

  • head to Edinbrugh in Scotland if you love Vancover you will LOVE!!! Edinbrugh :D

  • I've only watched a few minutes of this video and already I think your really brave to come out to people, you have my full unconditional support. I'm bisexual myself and I came out a few years back. I'm selective of who I tell co's of still exsiting prejudice but my family now know, though a couple of them aren't fully okay with it.

  • i have to say ur really cute... : )

i also lived in a small town and i was the only indian guy / of colored lol

my graduation class was of 40 kids and my school wasnt so big but it was from k-12 grade small town in the upper westcheaster area NY. and yea i cant seem to keep a gay friend i only have straight friends .all my friends know about me even in high school i was 16 i think when i told friends i was gay i said hes hot lol

great video btw i dont comment much on videos but yours is cool

  • Canada is the most gay friendly place! I use to live in Vancouver as well, have you ever been to the gay pride there?

  • I must disagree again. It's not the "gay" scene that is promiscuous, nor the "straight", it's the NIGHT scene. It's not about gay or straight bars and it's not about if they're gay or straight people, it's just about the context: young people (with subsequent hormonal storm), feeling alive and free, usually having fun, euphoric and possibly drunk and/or drugged....that situation leads to lust and in these times, there aren't many moral walls to tame sex so it ends up in...

    Have fun!

  • I'm a girl but I think you are HOT!!! Thats all I want to say. Heehee

  • Haha, that reminds me of a dance I went to last February. This military type guy I had been talking to about politics earlier wanted a piece of me, and I was a little off put, so I had my best friend cockblock him.

  • oops..i meant i love ecsatsy haha, well use to

  • Ha I love

  • Your comment about being groped reminds me of an experience a straight female friend told me about.

  • I love your video, but unfortunately it is true once again all the beautiful and nice men are taken or gay:)

  • Canada luvs ya!

  • Such respect, man! There is a 'learning curve' to understanding how to be the kind of "gay" person one is most comfortable with. It's actually the same with straight people, but there are more straight examples available to model one's self after, if one choose. The hope is that someday the examples of all 'lifestyles' will be more equally visible in society, and the comfort level of ANY 'outsider" of ANY lifestyle will be significantly greater than now. That will be an awesome happening!

  • Hey man I really like your videos! I just have to mention, you look just like a guy in one of Jack Vale's videos :D

  • We could've passed right by each other downtown! :O I usually walk on the Stepho's side of Davie, you?

  • Comment removed

  • I loved this video.

  • That the think is it not. Call me made but speaking from a man in my 30's. You said learning the gay culture the gay scene etc. It's that the very thing that turns off other gay guy looking for a relationship.

  • I live in Vancouver :)

  • rockstar1997: If he fell in love with a woman, he would be bi. If he hasn't had any interest in a female by this point in his life though, its kinda unlikely he would. Since you're straight, you probably haven't had to worry about sexuality, but its not so cut and dry. And though you probably didn't mean to offend, your question would be the same as someone asking what would you do if you met a guy and "your whole thing about being straight fades away." :/ not criticizing you, just sayin'

  • Ok this is really random I just started watching your videos I'm not gay or anything like that and excuse the name 1997 I'm actually older than that I noticed you are a very handsome man and that you are gay what would you do If a women fell in love with you at first sight and when you see her your whole thing about being gay fades away

    Just saying lol so random

  • Ok . first of all i love your vid's . alot of good advise you give (; and i just love those haters . who thumbs down this . there idiots . of disliking this video . come on. this is good advice . i have watched some of you other videos about how to come out and all . i hope you make more video's (;

  • What do you get out of making these video's?

  • I liked the part where he said " yeah, and watch you back" LOL :D

  • wow, good i found you, incredible guy, smart, realistic, so handsome of course. pleasure to listen, even bigger pleasure to watch and listen. saw ur clip on promiscuity. have to admit that when i was in my twenties, i thought it would be a phase, but now in my thirties it is only a little bit less. i tried a lot, but somehow it doesn't work for me.

  • AMEN!!! I agree with you 100%!!!!

It's a crying shame that guys have to get drunk and high to think they are something when they just dont know it. I have 0!!! Tolorence for drugs or getting drunk off your ass. A few drinks 2-4 but that is it!

  • ur hair is yes here :)

  • Ur a cutie

  • LMAO Great story.

  • I would've thrown you on the booth, too.

  • I recently started going to gayclubs( cause most of my friends are straight, it's difficult to get them to a gayclub.) and I was surprised, it was refreshing cause I felt acceptance but like you said they are too grabby/slutty and I didn't feel any respect.

But since my gaydar doesn't really work I'm forced to go back :(

  • LMAO @ the sweaty, drugged up 5'4 dude. I actually gagged.

  • LMAO @ the sweaty, drugged up 5'4 dude. I actually kind of gagged.

  • Hey hows it going I was watching your video and when is your birthday? Oh my name is JC

  • omg was this college marlboro, one of my friends go there.

  • I agree with you the gay scene can be fun, but have to be careful.

  • I agree with you the gay scene can be fun, but have to be careful.

  • wheres his video ? i wanna watch it !!! xx

  • Yeah you have prettier eyes than me, I think. Damn you! HEhe

  • You better MOVE to Canada!!! This Country needs more awesome guys like you for example!! I am Canadian too, thank you for speaking of Vancouver, Canada I live near Toronto myself its nice up here

  • omgoodness!! I'm a Vancouverite and it's really nice to hear how someone who isn't from here thinks of it. Especially the gay scene haha it sure is an interesting one.

  • Being from Canada myself, I am very pleased that your visit to Vancouver was so positive for you.

  • Being gay is all about being comfortable with your own sexuality and being comfortable with yourself as a whole person. When you have a healthy love of yourself, it shows in how you interact with others.

  • The gay scene is what you make of it. If you want to take drugs and have loads of sex you can but not everyone on the scene is like tht. Im from england and we have a gay scene in most towns here so its a bit more varied.

  • OMG

I think I've seen that guy ha ha :P

I live very close to Vancouver but I've only been to Celebrities like twice (I can't really handle clubs they gross me out)

Also, I totally get what you mean about getting along better with straight people. Half my friends are straight people and half are lesbians. I don't have a single gay male friend! Not that it matters, I just think it's disappointing at times.

  • i'm gay...and i'm proud to be like that,,i want to commit in a gay marrage,,09284641528 call me...

  • CANADA!!!

  • Oh My God... You are beautiful. And you have Amazing eyes!

  • of course the gay life is a fun one, and now all u r making me worried, cause im an aussie and i get to go to clubs when im 18, and u went to one when u were 21 and that happened to u, ill be 18 3 less years of maturity i will probably kick him in the balls and run away, and that aint kool, oh well ill cross that bridge when i come to it

    xoxo ajjensen1993

  • Yeah every time I go to a gay bar/club guys just walk up and grab my dick and u try to be nice and say stop nicely but they don't listen so u got to be mr asshole and be like "for real dude STOP!!!!" At first I didn't know how to react. I just turned 21 4 months ago. But u learn quick or else I'll be getting gang raped on date rape

  • Your amazing I'm gay and in the closet and I really just hated myself from it, but since i been watching your videos im becoming okay with it. :)

    your super cute.

  • Where did you go to school? Bennington?!-surprised if you were the only gay guy? I'm thinking about going to Vancouver 2010 but don't like as many winter sports as I am planning to go to London 2012. Rethinking it because of what I hear about Vancouver. Cool thanks for this vlog.

  • Practically everyone at the college I go to are fine with people who are gay, but there is no gay scene here. I would have to (but have not yet) go all the way to Boston (30-40 min.s away) for any gay bars or clubs.

  • John's a Magnet! ppl can't get enough of u, can't they? lol

I don't i've ever had guys come across me that way, but a lot girls tend to like me A LOT! & they all know i'm gay, but they never let me forget that had a crush on me one time. it's soooo awkward!

  • It sounds like you were almost raped. That guy was way too agressive. You should have lied and told him to go away because you were already had a boyfriend - you know, because you said you didn't want to be mean and just push him away.

But anyway, you seem like a really nice guy. You have good energy in the way you come across.

  • im a girl id love to rape you your so cute

  • LOL....... WEST END Vancouver?

  • Never thought I'd sit through a 6 minute youtube video, but I did! I like what you have to say, and that's def good stuff to know when I turn 21! XD

  • same thing happend to me n my bf. some guy came up to both of us and started groping us. it was weird. me n my bf were trying to push him away and he wouldnt get the hint. i think he was on something... were not the fighting type but we kept pushing him. til he finally passed on to another guy that seemed to be on drugs and they both hit it off i guess. lol

  • sick much...? go away, dont bother commenting..!!

  • wats wrong with wat I said?

  • commented on the wrong comment lol :P sorry :P

  • :)))) Really long video, but it kept me wrapped up in it and I really wanted to see what you had to say so that I could learn from you. Honestly, I think this will be a useful tool in my future. :)

  • yeah perfect...terrific experience.anyway being a gay really enjoys a lot but your correct. needs to be careful. coz sometime we tend to do thingd\s without having a second thought. Good job.

  • I knew you had a video on this.

I had to watch it because i recently came out to two of my friends (First time i told anyone. It really is a big weight off your shoulders.)

They invited me to go to some gay clubs in Austin, TX halloween this year because I turn 21 in October. Going to be my first gay experience. YIKES!!!

I promise i'll make that video i told you i'd make here in the near future (volunteer stuff in the way again at the moment).

    Peace

  • you beter! congrats on comming out hun!

  • Yea i came out to 1 of my best friends last month it really is a weight off i can finaly tell her what type im in .yea im in txs to plan on moving as soon as possible...iv always wanted to live in a forign country@RaNdOmRyAn13

  • @posideon491

Texas isn't that bad, you have Houston and Austin :)

lol i like how you replied to a comment that i posted 2 years go lol

  • Eh what ever i dont look when they were posted@RaNdOmRyAn13

  • at my school in Vancouver, a school of 1500, has no openly gay people.

the GSA club at my school closed because the leader graduated. there is just no community what so ever for a gay highschool student.

  • that guy certainly sounds interesting to say the least lol at least its flattering huh

  • Haha. Wow. That's a great story. Glad you're figuring things out. :-)

  • i 've got a question not only for you but for all gay ppl watching this video.... Do gay ppl want to have childrents? Would u secrefice your relationship with someone u say u love just to try to have a str8 relationship with a lady and try to have childrents with her... even if u know u r gay???

  • i am gay, i would love to have children... but no, i couldn't be so dishonest to everyone and myself by having a relationship with a woman to have children... i guess i'll do without.. :(

  • or u can just adopt a child, that's what i want to do, find a guy that i want to spend the rest of my life with and try to sdopt a child

  • you better hurry up because they are very tough on gay couples who want to adopt

  • Adoption is a great option to consider! There are lots of children that are in need of a loving home! :)

  • You could always find a surrogate mother.

  • In response to xunsoldier2:

That would be an incredibly mean thing to do to a woman, to have her waste precious years of her life establishing a life and family with a man who secretly did not desire her and had a roaming eye for men. Sorry, but that's just cruel. Never drag an innocent woman through that. Ever. I've seen interviews with women who have been through that and it literally ravages and destroys their lives.

  • I hate the gay scene in my home country or anywhere else. It's just full of people that makes me feel not gay enough.

I never had problems with that "being in the closet" thing or being among staight people, it's just i feel comfortable enough with who i am and everybody else seems to take it like that naturally.

  • Sorry for that but... haha... "Watch your back" was my sentence of the day... really... :-D

As a gay you should ALWAYS watch your back because you don't know would might stand behind you waiting ;-) !

  • I so know what you mean. hetero- and homosexuals truly live in different worlds.

I'm a bi guy, so I know all too well what it's like on both sides. With women, I have no luck. But with guys, I can hook up whenever I want just by asking, just how a woman could with straight guys. It was definitely weird discovering that sexual power at first.

  • women play hard to get...i think

im never going to go out with one of...them, so i wouldnt know lol

  • I don't go to clubs at all anymore, but when I used to... I'd just be very shy, dance by myself or with the company I went with and generally open up a little after I got drunk. It can be nasty at gay clubs, BUT, it's actually no different than the str8 clubs I have been to. Actually, I think it was sometimes worse at str8 clubs. The men acted like a pack of wolves hunting for fembot mates.

  • Anyway, the bar scene in SF scared me. I knew it wasn't for me even more so than Philly. I loved the bar scene in VA how there weren't divisons of lesbian/gay/bear/cub/leather/bulldyke/lipstick/trans it was one club for everybody and people didn't self segregate. I don't like going to the bars much anymore but love to dance so I understand the feeling. NC had no gay scene jsut and exgay scene.

  • It's the closest a man gets to understanding what it feels like to be a woman. I've lived in NC, PA and south Jersey(Cape May), and VA. I found my gay self in VA. Came back to Philly went crazy going to the clubs made gay friends and got disenchanted with the Philadelphia gay scene. I went to SF one summer and during Third Eye Blind's concert at Pride 05 I felt a sense of home. At that point I was jaded and this was a welcomed thing.

  • sexy! :D

  • Hey John. I am new to your channel and just want to say that I love that you enjoyed your time up here in Canada! (Cept for the one stupid guy hah!) What you had to say is the reason why I love being Canadian!

Hope to see more videos from you (love the topics) and maybe you will check out mine. I have been thinking about starting a vlog and coming across someone else more new on here makes me feel like I won't be the only one! hah!

  • I love your country and would move to vancouver in a heartbeat. I am also glad you are enjoying my channel:)

  • the good thing bout BC is for the most part, theres no snow in winter as far as i know

its ONTARIO that would prolly piss you off, tho i hear toronto has really good pride parades (has never been to one.)

  • i'm gay and i live in toronto and i have to say ppl here are a lil more excepting of homosexuality and the VILLAGE here is amassing u should come over

  • i would...if i a) moved back there, or b) had the money to spend going to toronto

unfortunatly for me, im in la-di-da hamilton. the onlt good thing here is confederation park

  • Again... your video posts are awesome. Love your point of view on things and the way you tell stories. Keep it up ;)

  • I totally agree with babylonsquared, You should make a couple vlogs about your stories. You're very interesting =]

  • Thanks. I will in the future maybe,...could be boring but we shall see.

  • very cool response video, thou now that the cat is out of the bag you should make a couple vlogs about your 4 months in Canada

also wow what a extreme from living in New Jersey to Vermont to Arizona to Canada and back

  • It was an extreme!!! it was crazy and learned sooo much

  • you just made this Vancouverite's day :)

  • something like that happened to me! I was dancing, it was like the second time I was at a club and then suddenly I felt two hands over my jeans in my ass, reaching lower, like trying to separate my legs but his palms facing my perineum and I was like WTF? and I turn around and I was like dude!! no!! and I practically ran to the other extreme of the dance floor..

  • Oh my godness, you´re a extremely sexy guy!

    I love it!

  • Totally agree with your points!,glad everything worked out for you.You are quite inspiring.

  • You should come to Amsterdam! :p

  • really wow like i posted under other johns video he freaked me out enough lol your story is just bananas i think i would have completly froze for a second too trying to register did this guy just put his tounge in my mouth lol but i just turned 21 read to go to my first gay bar soon but now i dont know i'am kinda big on people invading my personal bubble like call me old fashion but i like to meet you get your name talk abit before you groping me and shoving your tounge down my throat lol.

  • You're posting videos all the time now. Are you addicted to You Tube? It's okay I am too lol. I just love talking to people and hearing all the different points of view. I can only recall going to one Gay Bar in Sydney and it was a similar experience. Too many wandering hands. I would definitely take some friends though just in case. You're story was hilarious but at the same time I felt sorry for you because we've all been there.

  • ash, I am addicted. This is great fun. :)

  • So the Johns have meet :D

Your story was intense John. I'm a nice and rational guy, but that guy would have gotten a black eye or something trying to molest me haha

  • (Oh, it's there as a response, but YouTube won't show the tag. Weird.)

  • Hah, that's one heck of a story. I'm more of a romantic gay guy than a sexual gay guy, so I guess I should watch my back when/if I ever get to a gay bar/club, lol.

(P.S.: You meant to put this as a video response, but I don't see the "This is a video response to ???" tag. Did you post it via the "Post a Video Response" link?)
