Some Adam Curtis documentaries are available at archive-dot-org as high quality MP4's. Pandora's Box is available there as 3 ISO disk images, ready to burn to DVD. See the Wikipedia article on Curtis for a brief bio and list of his documentaries.
I don't recall him saying that anywhere. In fact, the whole point of his documentaries is to show how ideologies — any ideology — imposed from the top down sabotages a society. Somehow I don't think you were quite following along.
The quote on Sharia is right out of this video ... so maybe you are not following along so much as you think. Thinking that someone is imposing an ideology from above is an interesting idea ... do you really think that is what is being done? I think people rebel against that natually, so why do we think that it works so well when some nefarious government does it in a movie?
Which video? 'Power of Nightmares'? Do you have the quote you're thinking of, word for word? I'm certainly willing to watch the video again to look for that and hear it in context.
Sure people will rebel if an ideology is imposed overtly, but what if it is much more subtle, hidden in complexity, and sold to us? I think Curtis makes a strong case for that in 'Century of the Self'; the views of people held by Edward Bernays and John Nash have largely become a self-fulfilling prophecy in the US.
Thanks for the link to Pandoras Box and Mayfair Set, i'll be watching them now. Century of the Self, Nightmares and The Trap are great. I've burned them to DVD with freeware DVD Flick, straight from the youtube flv files and shared them around friends.
It's a disservice by our media not to offer these presentations to the public in a forum such as educational institutions, public broadcasting or even at venues spread nationally privately fund and/or inexpensively priced at least on at introductory basis. Promote public showings that can be conducted at libraries or social organizations might be hopeful. Simply put this is too good not to be view by more I'll spread the word for however limited affect that will have.
Wow - thanks so much for these links! So very helpful for use in my classroom - !

This comment has received too many negative votes show
How does Sharia law liberate Britons, or anyone else from anything? Adam Curtis is just another propagandist, only he makes some funny cartoons.

dont they have to wait 15 years for the intellectual property rights for all those clips to be freed up, or gain permissions and royalty agreements?
i thought these were the main reasons the films werent released officially. just too much hassle :(
