  • I had no idea that the USA had their own version of the Top Rank label

  • wonderful song that got lost from radio play like so many others

  • Thanks for bringing my teen years back!

  • use to dance to this on a friday night at the dance hall when i was 16 smashing song

  • From a Time Long Ago when they actually wrote Music .

  • A true Detroit legend? And still performs In the Metro Detroit Area what a voice! Go Jack Go!

  • @MagicGary1960 i'm going to be in that area in february . any one have any idea if he has a appearance schedule?

  • @denisjl100 I'm not really sure since I dont live up there any more? There coudl be a schedule out that might say! I know he plays alot around both Clawson area and Warren. So you might want to check those areas out.

  • @MagicGary1960 thank you. i'm not all that familiar with the detroit area but i'm sure i'll make out all right. check newspapers and websites. thanks again

  • I love all the oldies They had such clarity compared to todays singers

Jack Scott was one of my favorites.

  • @glideair60 Your uncle was nothing short of inspired when he wrote this song. One can only imagine what it would have become with Jim Reeves' mighty pipe organ voice belting it out. WOW! Mom had the Glen Campbell album you mentioned. I performed this song myself once, but it bombed. My voice doesn't lend itself to power ballads like this one.

  • Excellent song by an excellent artist

  • I love the last of the song esp. Burning, burning, bridges, burning.............

  • I used to have this album. I sang it back in the old days. Thanks for the memories John

  • The original redneck musician, great stuff, music made before the word "redneck" was hijacked by racist whites.

  • You have just listened to one of the worlds Greatest recording artists ever. Jack is truly a Legend in his own time. There were many great singers we had in the 50s and 60s and Jack was right there with the very best. I've had the pleasure of knowing Jack for many, many , years, and let me just say he is, and will always be, one of the finest people you will ever meet or come to know. Thanks Jack for all the great great songs and the memories you have made for us all. Thanks, and God Bless.

  • this song i remember from 1958, i was 13 years old, some of the best music came from these years.

  • @ronKY40216 This song was a hit in 1960.

  • Haven't heard this song in years. My mom used to sing this song while she played it on her old upright piano when I was a little kid. Brings back some good memories--sure wish I could go back to that time. . . .Thanks to whoever posted this!

  • My Mom bought this 45 when I was a little girl and I have it today. The song reminds me so much of her. I LOVED the other side too "Oh Little One". The 45 is so scratchy so it's wonderful to hear it so beautifully clear. I'm going looking for the flip side now. THANK YOU somuch for posting!!

  • I'm 58 and recall ever so well this song playing on car radios and older siblings on transitor radios ,or playing it on a jukebox somewhere. I was a kid but even then knew I liked jack scott and all his songs. " the way I walk " is a great rock-a-billy classic and " good-by baby" is still on my short list of favorite songs. some DJ played it same time each morning as I dressed for school. like elvis jack was a great baritone singer.

  • This performer sings not just with his voice but he sings with his heart. I saw him perform over 50 years ago and still remember how I felt when he sang song after song. I was also very fortunate when he came off the stage and talked with us and then shook my hand. I was only 13 at the time but it still ranks high on the "most treasured moments". He always sang with his heart and you could feel it each time the words came out.

  • Jack Scott was a wonderful singer who conveyed a lot of emotion. I do remember some people used to joke that it sounded like he was recording on the wrong speed. I always especially liked this one; I was a little kid when it came out and we used to sing it as "Burning Britches" (and I am quite sure we didn't invent that.) Thanks for posting this fond memory.

  • Dwilli - You don't consider this country music??

It's a great song by a great singer, and it's sure

as hell country! I always thought of Scott as kind

of country doo wop, but this is pure country in my

    opinion.

  • I have loved this man voice since I was a teenager.................... I am 63 and still love it...........quality tones in every word

  • I have and old 45rpm of this recording. I've always loved Jack Scott and I've slow-danced many a mile across the high school cafeteria floor to this particular song!

  • Very nice.

  • Sure brings back the good old days

  • hi do you have "lets learn to live and love again" would like to hear the original but cant find it on any of his cds!

  • What ever happened to May Mary Mary me? How do I get to Jacks Biography I'm kind of new at this

  • lovely....haven't heard in many years...this was in mom and dad's collection

  • my true love y esteque está sonando ,me llevan a los años mejores de mi vida,es una pena que ahora no haya canciones así.Montse

  • Jack and his brother were both great singers.

  • I have always loved this song even though I have always preferred country music. He had a brother who sang country music but he never gained the fame that Jack did.

  • This is a great song by a great performer. Quite a few years ago I listened to this song over and over while sipping Jack Daniels and getting over some burned bridges of my own.

  • love it.

  • This song hit #3 in the summer of 1960. It was one of two big hits for Jack Scott. The other was My True Love.

  • this song came out in 1960. jim reeves died in 64. he must of had no plans to record it.

  • he had maybe 23 hits in one year... and should long have been inducted into the rock hall

  • OLDIES CONCERT $37 at Lowell Memorial Auditorium (Lowell, MA) Saturday October 10, 2010 - Bobby Vee, Freddie Cannon, Jack Scott, The Chiffons, The Bobbettes! Tickets: (978) 454-2299.

  • One of the "Best of the Best" of our great singers is Jack Scott. I've known Jack for many years. Not only is he one of the greatest performers you will ever have the pleasure to see and listen to with that God given voice of his but a showman. Jack still performs today at some of the clubs in michigan where he lives. If you ever have a chance to see one of his performances don't miss it or you will have missed one of our truly great ,great singers.

  • Great record. A great truth-life goes on-move on. Years later, listen to this and reflect with a smile.

  • A classic. Great voice, great song.

  • Another "monster" that today's kids are missing!

  • Jack Scott is one of favourite artists from this period x Long before I was born but we love this stuff x

  • mi piace questa vecchia canzone

  • Big Thank you Alan for this classic Jack Scott ,I agree Italians sure put this type of song over good.

  • i got the honor of being able to stand beside him and sing some of his songs.tyvvm for bringing back some wonderful memories.if you can find anymore please send them to me.god bless you and your family

  • It amazes me that most of the Italians turn out be great crooners.

  • My uncle Walter Scott (no relation to Jack), wrote this song. The song was pitched to Jim Reeves but Jim died before he had a chance to record it. Glen Campbell released a "Burning Bridges" album in the 70's.

The phrase "burning bridges" was used by many song writers after the original cut was released by Jack Scott.

  • @glideair60 Wonderful nostalgia. Thanks!

  • @glideair60

    Wow !!!

  • @glideair60 God Bless Uncle Walter for his powerful lyrics ........

    love Jack Scott's rendition.

  • @glideair60 Very Cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Right behind his 1959 hit 'Goodbye Baby',this is my top favorite from this talented Canadian singer.Such a beautiful tune!

  • i am related to this dude no joke!

  • Saw Jack Scott in Dearborn, Michigan a week ago. Was a great show! Sounds the same but has aged a little like all of us!

  • wonderful old fashioned song!!havent heard it in years.

  • Jack Scott is playing in Fraser MI on Sept 25, 2009. Call Fraser poice 586-293-1425 for tickits. Its a fund raiser for the Fraser police.

  • POI ...kill yourself now !....the crap thats coming out today is enuff for your kids ,if you have any, to shoot themselves..

  • Jack sounds great here and I've always loved this song and he's very handsome. This is a great song to dance to. Some of today's male singers sure could use a hair style like Jack's cool look is here. Thank you for posting - Paula

  • Love this song...its in my head constantly...

  • Man, what a time to live in./ I have always loved the 50's and 60's./ Wher are you Louise? it's been so long. I have not forgotten my first love.

  • Truly a troubador, the man rendered up many ballads that are classics!

  • I had the dj play thisat my wedding

  • Jack scott still tours and does the rock n roll shows. Lives in sterling hgts. mich.

  • Wow! How old is he? When is he in Sheffield?

  • One of the truly greatest singers ever to record. Jack will always be remembered for that great great voice that he still has.

  • Vivian, do you remember listening to this in a place in which we spent many hours?

    You really liked Jack Scott.

  • Great song. I wonder how these guys would of done with the dry look?

  • Unacceptable in the 50's

  • thankyou, great singer, beautiful song

  • Fine singer.

  • In answer to waltztherock, I believe the song you refer to is "Rock Your Little Baby To Sleep" by Buddy Knox. To the best of my memory it came out about 1957 or 1958. Buddy Knox was a great one as well!

  • Jack Scott at his best. Fantastic memories from 1960.

  • Good one.

  • Thanks for this great 1959 song all of Jack's stuff was out there except for his best.

  • A beautiful song by a great artist. Back in the 60s I heard a song by a singer who sounded somewhat like Jack Scott. I think the song was 'Rock All the Babies to Sleep',if anyone knows anything about this song please contact me!

  • One of the very best, memories of the fifties. Thanks Jack

  • I saw him last night (9/27/08) at the city festival in Warren, MI. After all these years he's still got it!

He explained the history behind this song...when he performed it he had a strep throat and a 103 fever. He recorded it anyway and gave it his best shot. After he was feeling better he wanted to go back and re-record it, but they told him it was fine. He didn't agree, but it went on to become a big hit.

  • Thank u for the history. Very interesting. I love his Music.

  • I haven't heard that song since I was a kid and I love it back then. thank you!

  • The lyrics to this song are haunting because I lived them in real life. I did all the things that Jack mentioned in this song, but somehow I still can't forget my long lost love.

  • This song brought back a lot of memories!

  • VASTLY UNDERRATED

  • This song was used in the movie Kellys Heroes!

  • I believe it was Burning Bridges by the Mike Curb Congregtion

  • That was from Kelly's hero's. a catchy tune probably not what that persn was looking for.

  • Same title, different song otherwise. That happens sometimes.

  • Even though Jack Scott has been around awhile, I just recently discovered his terrific music through YouTube. He should've been a more popular singer because this guy can sing!!!

  • Am really time traveling on this one ...loved it then and still loving it now. Thanks for sharing.

  • excellent song but does anybody have the jim reeves version please to post

  • beautiful song, I heard it on an audio tape my brother brought from the USA back in the 80's

    excellent melody

  • Found this quite by accident. What a memory! I recall a boy in our school who was a friend of my older brother singing this on the spur of the moment with absolutely no accompaniment in front of the entire student body in Derrick City, PA. What bravery! A few years later he and my brother both died in Vietnam just three weeks apart. Sent back with my brother's personal effects was an unsent letter written by him saying he had learned of his friend's death and how bad he felt about it.

  • Beautiful heart-wrenching song, he has a smooth voice and it's a pleasure to hear him sing. Thanks for uploading AlanPaladin.

  • Jack deserves extra praise for writing his own hits. This one, "My True Love," and "What In The World's Come Over You." If the guy from Tupelo had actually written a few of his own hits, he would be held in even higher esteem.

  • This was only hit Jack didnt write. Walter Scott wrote it.

  • Thanks for posting this!

  • What a beautiful song.

    Jack has a great voice.

    Thanks.
