  • yeah youre right their new shit doesnt sound like depopulate, but who wants to hear the same old shit on every record? i guess just you and cannibal corpse fans. whatever, the new VILE shit is sick, check out "the revealing" if you cant handle prophetic betrayal. and if u still dont like it, just quit talking shit and fuck off !

  • this guys is an amazing artist and cool guy as well. fuck all you fags

  • agpmandavel most only use kick triggers. For clarity but I think the toms Are triggered to get a special sound

  • I has a question.

I don't listen to extreme/death metal or whatever this is, but I'm curious as to why in most/all extreme/death metal, the kick and toms/whatever else is triggered to midi and not just recorded acoustically as the others? I'm guessing it's a problem with individual hit clarity, playing so fast and whatnot?

  • @AGPMandavel you could never keep that consistent at that speed and thus your sound would loose a lot of pressure... and keeping up the pressure is everything in that genre...

  • my lord there are some dim people who have commented on this... @extremerecording I think you've done a good job there and some interesting tips with reamping the trigger signals

  • Some people just don't understand....

  • Apparently no one is reading the text on the screen. You are listening to the headphone monitor and triggered toms for MONITORING ONLY. You are hearing a lot of bottom snare because you are listening to a drummers headphone mix. You are NOT hearing the recorded tones. Want to hear snare in the room, go to end of video. I feel like you have to fail an IQ test to post on Youtube...and its like every video out there...same silly comments...

  • umm the snare sounds like a weak piece of shit? if your going to be a producer, you should probably learn how to just eq drums?

  • what is wrong with the toms?

  • lol finally.. never use triggers on toms and snare... only on drum bass

  • good drumming...with horrible sound...! it remembers me Midi (bad) drum kit ... nothing virtual.. nothing natural!

  • good drummer, good technique.. the guy has obviously shedded a few hours into getting tight kicks thats for sure..

  • @EdgeStormcrow they are triggers, everything is triggered except for the snare and obviously the cymbals.

  • @fordshop11 Of course they are triggered.. Ive a set of triggers myself, if I fuck up.. it gets magnified 10 fold.. so need to play tightly and practice well like this guy has.

  • exelent drum kit and sound.

  • i like the challenge of tracking real drums sounds, more fun am i wrong?

  • snare is horibleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • at first I was like this guy is fucking amazing holy shit. then i got bored with it after like 2 minutes.

  • @babaswaba "to be replaced later with toontrack" FUCKING READ

  • Wow. There's a lot of people here bashing about the triggered sound of the drumset. Read this: NOWADAYS, almost every metal band records drum tracks using triggers. It saves time, it turns the process a lot faster, and clean. OR, you can always record the drums like Behemoth did on their last album, and SPEND 20.000 dollars just on that. But hey, I guess all the bands in the world, including Vile, which may not make a lot of money like behemoth, needs to spend all that?.

  • Let's see him play that without triggers on the bass drums. You wouldn't hear it for shit.

  • @Fingerbang973 Ive seen Tyson play with and without triggers (in San Diego with VILE and Warface), and he kills it either way: plays super tight and clean. He got 3rd place in worlds fastest drummer at NAMM, you cant cheat that shit....fingerbang973

  • man with this set, as I saw in your other videos, you could achieve a much better sound out of everything. you don't use a starclassic maple to trigger it. these drums are BORN for recording. sorry, :(

  • this gets boring really fast....even if he his playing at like 240bpm, speed isnt everything. I still love these guys though haha

  • who gives a fuck about the sound "quality"?! eveything on youtube sounds like shit, just check out the playing!! That shit is blinding fact at 240 bpm, can any of you crybaby shittalkers do that? haha, didnt think so. I cant wait to hear the new VILE album out in 2011. War VILE!

  • sorry but natural drums sounds wayyy !!! better ......

  • Why don't you use a drum computer, there's is also no soul left, like in this case!

  • horrible

  • ugly ass drum sound

  • NEVER PUT A LAPTOP ON A SPEAKER!

  • @babaswaba He's only using the monitering units preset drum sounds. he replaced them with toontrack after... which is a lott better

  • Decent drummer but if you used a drum machine no one could tell the difference. Snare sounds pretty weak... mic placement?

  • watching terrorstorm! these guys arent stupid :)

  • excellent excellent player..

  • great shit! snare sounds interesting...i wonder if that was sample replaced, or just toms...

  • killer drummer

but i didn't like the snare

  • god i fuckin love this vid... love his playing

  • You are retty consistent dude. Great drumming!

  • the bass drum and cymbals sound good but the toms and snare dont.

  • @OutofNothing71 Can you not read the Uploader comment above you?

  • I hear everybody complaining about the sound, but most shit on you tube doesnt sound awesome. Forget the sound and check out the playing! Tyson is one of the few drummers in the world that can play the ONE-FOOTED Blast Beat at 240 bpm similar to Pete Sandoval and Derek Roddy. All these new supposed blasters cheat and use two feat. Thats weak. Oh and by the way, Tyson got 3rd place in the World's Fastst Drummer Contest at NAMM in L.A. Anyway, listen to whats being played and not the sound.

  • @Odinsword

You're soooooooooooooo right! That 2-foot-blasting is nothing special. I mean music is ... no ... should be art.

    Great opinion - stay METAL!

  • nice work , your like Lust of Decay's drummer!

  • so what you here is are the dm5 samples or the toontrack samples ?

why wouldnt you just put your triggers in the dm5 and then in the computer via midi out ? nice sound you have btw.

please answer, i'm new to this stuff ;D

  • People are just plain stupid. HEY IDIOTS: They replaced these sounds on the actual finished album. Christ on a crutch... All these dumb-asses talking shit about the sound when you EXPLAINED that this is just the sounds that were being used so the drummer could monitor what he was doing while he was performing.

    Idiots.

  • snare sounds like shit toms sound like they came from fruity loops only good thing was the kick drum triggers

  • i mean this is all personal prefence, but i think the kick could be deeper with more lower eq, maybe pitch shift down or something. also the snare has too much bottom mic in my opinion. toms little less reverb, you cant help the way the sample sounds so idk, but i mean its a decent sound over all. just for all the work you, totally not worth it

  • HELL YES!!!! That drum sound is EXCELLENT!!!!! Eventhough drum machines R Great if U don't have a drummer at hand a human drummer is ALWAYS BEST!!! TYSON is OFF THE DAMN CHAIN!!!! PEACE!!! NIGGY'S MILK

  • I like how in his earlier videos he says he has all those diffusors to keep the reverb of the room. Yeah right. Like he's even using it now that all the drums are terribly triggered and replaced? jeeze... Over-complicated and over processed.

  • damn ugly! i hate triggers

  • dude... hit the god damn snare... you're like a sissy

  • @screw66 when your recoring you dont need to hit the snare hard, if you do the power of it will sound like shit in the editing

  • worst toms.

  • whens this new album coming out?

  • Tyson kills it! so badass!

  • I love it... I use to get rides home from Tyson in his beastly brown El Camino I had no clue he had come this far. keep it up man I love your work.

    ~Kyle

  • Death Metal Elite!

    HeiL!

  • the video says the drums will sound different on the album, either way this shit is fast as fuck and i'm sure the new VILE is gonna shred humans....

  • i always trigger my kicks with the same sound i love it but the toms sound horrible and even on the album dont sound great they need to use real sounds on toms or you might as well use a program :D

  • you guys are idiots....hes not using those sounds on the actual album those are just for the drummer to listen to while hes playing so he doesn't get any latency if he were to use the other program.

  • WTF?! I have a fucking TKO snare,(Which by the way, very underrated drum,And they sound very good) and my snare sounds a million times better than his,Very fake sound :S

  • man people just dont get metal

  • nice shirt! DME

  • All he's using is his module. This isn't Toontrack yet. Calm down.

  • sounds like fake toms need to upgrade to drum kit from hell and re trigger your sounds ... its way to thin like a starting point that needs a lot of work....... get some low end going and eq those toms better that might help might help .........

  • man this just sounds like garbage to me. doesnt even sound like real drums. i mean i can understand triggering like if you are doing a live show and you cant get your bass drum or something to sound right. but it just sounds overprossed like someone said before.

  • it says they are going to replace the sounds with toontrack. go and check out addictive or superior drums, they sound epic. the trigger sounds you hear are just for monitoring, they will not be in the final mix.

  • my reaction to all 3 vids: All that for that?

drums sound over processed. fake toms with real cymbals ( that dont sound good) and shitty snare (weak). im disappointed after watching first 2.

  • As a drummer, and an engineer, i wouldn't want fake sounds anywhere in the mix, regardless of 'monitoring' only.

  • i completely agree with you it's sounds bad for all that work and money

  • @kingpin8393

thats not what its gonna sound like on CD, so get your head out of your ass, the final production is gonna be the best Vile sound ever you kingpin dildo.

  • @Odinsword -that's great and all, but it's still sounds like santa's ass blowing chunks regardless of how much of a dildo I am.

  • @avoglerprods

complain about the sound but the the beats destroy you fuckin idiot, wait till the CD comes out you fuckin dipshit poser, Heil Vile!

  • @avoglerprods well...maybe if you understood what a trigger was...you would of realized that that was what he was doing in the first video and you couldve just stopped there..also...remember that he is changing the sample sound after recording...only using the trigger module and its sounds for MONITORING, im sure they tweaked everything in their DAW with superior drummer like he said...

  • @avoglerprods you either have the attention span of a 3 year old or you have the mental capacity of a 3 year old. Either way its not good. If you watched all 3 vids and opened up your ears you would hear how he over elaborated on how the tom sounds are going to be replaced... the only thing they're giong to keep is the snare. Do some research before running ur mouth to someone who's been in the profession for decades and clearly knows more than you about it

  • @avoglerprods Holy shit, he said that he was only using the sampled sounds for these drums for monitoring purposes only! That means it was just during recording and that after recording he was switching over to a different triggering plugin to make it sound more real.

  • @avoglerprods did you read the caption where it says kicks and toms triggered for monitering?

  • @avoglerprods If you read the beginning. he's using ToonTrack, Im sure its midi. So they can change the kick, toms, and snare sounds afterwards.

  • @avoglerprods this isnt the final product, this is only the monitored sound. listen to the album, and you'll hear that it isnt the final sound. all they have to do is load in the desired tom and bass sounds, balance the mix, and verb and eq the cymbals and snare, and voila. no tom or bass retuning necessary.

  • @avoglerprods It's not finished. That's just from the monitor, not the finished product

  • @avoglerprods Everybody who is sharing their negative opinions about the tom sounds should SHUT THE FUCK UP BECAUSE THEY ARE FUCKING RETARDED. They are just for monitoring so the drummer can hear what he's playing... they will be replaced with more realistic tom sounds later... FUCK YOU IDIOTS THAT DON'T PAY ATTENTION.... FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU!!!!!!! The drummer is really fucking good btw.... FUCK YOU IDIOTS THAT DON'T KNOW SHIT THOUGH. FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU.

  • @FUCKYOUIAMOVER18 thank you :)

  • @avoglerprods if you read what the the text says it says it's the monitor sounds, that means what the drummer hears through monitors or headphones, only so he can hear what he's playing, meaning it's not what the drums are actualy gonna sound like.

  • @avoglerprods it says in the video that this is the monitoring track of the drummer, i dont know about the final outcome but i assume this crap sound has not much to do with it.

  • @avoglerprods and the new music sounds like crap too.... what happened to vile?? they used to be sooo good.... but now.... SHIT

  • @migueldahlstrom VILE crushes abysmal dawn, one of yer favorites.

  • Comment removed

  • @Odinsword hahaha, you're such a moron... what an idiotic comment... hahahahaha i think that vile does "crush" abysmal dawn (not one of my favorites by the way) but that's not the point... the fact is that their new material sounds like crap, awful music, totaly unlike their older stuff, which, in my opinion, is some of the best metal out there, period! gotta love vile, but their new stuff blows... listen to it... look up prophetic betrayal from the album metamorphosis...

  • Sounds aweosme.

I love the sound of the toms, you guys need to learn to like more things. KC Howard from Decrepit Birth and even Pete Sandoval himself like this sound too, so keep that in mind.

Even Hellhammer likes his toms to sound almost triggered.

John Longstreth from Origin used tom samples on the Origin III album.

Your approval isn't needed at this point.

  • nice blasting, but mix up dude!

  • people are stupid! the trigger sound of the toms that yall are bitching about are going to be replaced! it says in the vid!!! triggers let the extreme fast metal drummers get clean hit sounds. dont get me wrong, gay people DO take advantage and put the beaters close to the bass drum and only tap, which is why theres so much hate on triggers. pretty much if you think triggers and gay and fake and cheating, youre not a drummer

  • ok lets kill this whole trigger thing. To all the ignorant: the trigger sounds you hear are used strictly for monitoring, its not used in the final mix. they used the triggers to recording each stroke and are going to replace them with toontrack.

  • @kaosM914:

Wrong. Triggers can be used to open gates and why the hell did you say they are going to replace them with toontrack? wtf? The mixer could use even samples from that kit or not even use the triggers at all... What kind of remark is that? Going to be replaced with toontrack lol.

  • @Sptz i dont care what they could do. i know what they can do im telling you what they did. "Recording Extreme Metal Drums Part 1." just watch it

  • why your toms are fake? 0.o

seriously, stop trigger all that stuff, let them sound naturely good -.-

i hate your faker sound -.-

  • @babaswaba it's not the final sound, they are going to change the triggers sound with toontrack

  • some of you people are so stupid. if you pay attention and READ (given that you CAN read) you would know that this isn't the actual sound of whats going to go on the record

  • sound of drums is so :S

  • best drummer. coul play.. WOW..

  • the toms sound SOOOOOOOOOOO cheap its stupid

  • Plastic sound like on cheap roland drums. I hate triggers xD

  • that was the worst snare drum sound i have heard in quite a while

  • Colin it's Ryan--that guy who used to drum for Maladiction back in like '99. I have my ghetto home studio in back of my house in San Jose---How did you get the video camera to pick up the audio from the headphone monitor--I'm trying to slut my drumming skills on Yahoo and need to have the cam pick up the sounds...Help me BROOOOOO

  • is not a human sound.... is like a machine... sorry... is a good drummer.... but i prefer another kind of sound on drums, like Skinless drum set...

  • The triggered instruments (toms especially) sound bad because it's an Alesis DM-5 monitoring the triggers whilst the MIDI data is being collected for putting through Superior Drummer 2.0

Watch the two other videos for an explanation.

  • Toms Sound Awful/Fake. Sorry But I Like Your Other Videos.

  • I just threw a band out my studio because the drummer was arguing about his snare it was out of tune but he keep on using it.

  • This is an album ill be looking forward to :)

  • could you do a video showing the software aspect of this recording? such as, what you do with toontrack, mixing and setting levels and what not.

  • toms sound quite unreal

  • bass drum sounds good....rest is shit...shity sound

  • All of you bitching about the use of triggers don't have a damn clue what you're talking about.

  • brutal drumming but the tom sound mhmmm i don´t like this sound

  • the tom sound is just for monitoring, they use superior drummer for the final product (wich sounds a lot better)

  • ROFL ya they sound goofy

  • thats not even the real sound of the toms on video or the new album, this is just a warm up , im sure the new onw will blow your balls off.

  • I don't know why everyone's complaining about the sound. Most extreme metal bands today use triggers. It's very hard to get a clean sound from the drums otherwise; especially bass drum and toms.

  • good good, but triggers yukk......

for me its ruins the sound ..

  • yuck .....they have captured the signal from toms, they sound shit, but tis can be replaced later with some incredible audio vsti's

  • its headphone audio, the durmmer chose what is best for hi mto listen when PLAYING, im sure it was mixed to shit later on.

  • this is one sick drummer! :)

  • Comment removed

  • I love how you can't hear the toms at all with the camera mic. Haha... does Colin ever miss recording toms the old fashioned way?

  • this guy will kick your ass

  • Hey have you heard? 9/11 was an outside job and BJJ was developed in bathhouses

  • i like jupin, but ellis was better....in my opinion

  • better at what? slower blast beats, soft hits, and the two-footed blast? you dont know what you're talking about.

  • the cymbals recording sounds really good. are you going to make a video with the toontrack samples replacing the DM5?

  • Awesome video, can't wait for the new album.

  • Let me explain how this works. Mesh heads with DDrum triggers are split into two. Half goes into a MIDI converter box and gets recorded. The other half feeds a DM5 module for "monitoring only"". That is what you are hearing. The MIDI that is recorded feeds a program called Superior Drummer 2.0 by Toontrack. These real samples of real drums are what gets used. Just another way of doing sound replacement. No cheating, just an advanced recording.technique. Final sound will NOT be this.

  • if the final sounds are samples why worry about the room?

  • the cymbals arent sampled

  • @extremerecording Sorry but this is horrible. Those toms sound like they should on another kit lol.

  • @extremerecording thank you for explaining that, most people are total idiots. BUT STILL this guy is great drummer, and the sound replacing makes drumming stale, i would much rather hear this his natural drum sounds on a recording. I know sampling uses his real drum tones, but it still doesn't sound right, especially for death metal. Let bands like As I Lay Dying and Whitechapel use that crap, keep death metal sick and real!!!

  • whats a toon track? is it basicly a drum machine

  • drum emulating software, its the beez kneez for recording and sampling drums. i think all of what ur hearing is just the alesis dm5 drum triggers

  • ah yes like sound of Thorr's Hammer crushing all in its path....

  • not a big fan of the toms im afraid

  • Yes, the toms suck in this clip but they will be replaced later with Toontrack...

  • Ah Cooooool

Toontrack's easydrummer is Rather Good (Y)

  • fucking great drumming vile is the best!!!

check out my drumming videos and make fun of me!
