  • I have watched this movie a 10,000 times and every time Uchiro smack Algren upside the head with that bokken, I flinch. I even know its coming and I still can practically feel that blow.

  • Great movie,Tom Cruise is amazing samurai :))

  • Hans Zimmer is a god.

  • I will tell you how he lived

  • And this is how you watch a movie in 11 minutes.lol. just joking great scenes and great film!!!

  • Samurai's etymology : to Shamurai of ancient Hebrew.

It is. Shamuai is a meaning of the person who guards in English.

  • you missed out the most important part of this film, the sword!!!!!!!

  • This is war...

The true wars have been foughtt when mankind had the breavary to fight face to face...

Hart to hard... fighting for own ideals.

    Sorry for my english :)

  • great movie

  • @nowy5 REVISIONIST SHIT that "film" plus a Scientologist actor... Read about Jules Brunet the FRENCH hero's life this scenario is based on!

  • @AuxaneD this is not the first time when the history was fake, rather it is usual in hollywood

  • R u b b i s h ..............

  • Well chosen clips. Great village and great boken scene.

  • Glorious JAPAN!

  • 1:16 !! :)

  • individualism and history. The world isn't that black and White mate, all creeds have honour and dishonour. Use your head before commenting.

Some White Europeans slaughtered Muslim woman and kids when they took Jerusalem, Saladin took it back, let the Jews and Christians be and gave his enemy safe passage back to Europe for fuck sake.

  • @blade004 and yet both Arabs and Persians (i make the distinction because they are both groups of Muslims yet have entirely different cultures, now and though out history, yet you lump them into the same category) were spiritually, morally, scientifically and technologically advanced and past that knowledge to other cultures centuries ago and added to the human race, yet you focus on a handful of individuals who happen to be of that faith in modern times and sully their whole faith, individuali

  • before its all about pride and honor...but now its all about people's damn reputation.

    pride and honor=courage

    reputation=cowardice

  • samurai are the most awesome worriars of all time :D

  • @TheBasje1993 Samurai < Spartans

  • @EpicTrollBeastMan agree :P but i like samurai more they look cooler (A) that would be an epic battle samurai against spartans :P

  • @TheBasje1993 It would be a decent fight, but there is a difference between a disciplined warrior and a beast breed to end other human lives. Also I'm a huge fan of hoplite armour and weapons so I think the uniforms would be close as far atheistics go.

  • @EpicTrollBeastMan ok i´m not that good at english xD but yeaahh idk theyre both cool but in different aspects ;)

  • Greeeat movie.

Minus points for the "cliche" white protagonist who survives and gets the happy ending. I guess that's just hollywood being hollywood. Atleast there was no dead black guy.

  • The Samurai had everything just right, This is how wars should be fought. Not by computers 100s of miles away or guns, but by skill with a blade and prossission marksmenship with a bow.

  • The Samurai had everything just right, This is how wars should be fought. Not by computers 100s of miles away or guns, but by skill with a blade and prossission marksmenship with a bow

  • @TheJizzler100 You are so right, quite a few soldiers today spend more time fighting from trees or within trenches than actually encountering someone face to face. Plus, no one cares for the concept of "no mind" anymore.

I've seen documentaries where soldiers simply charge in like a madman than simply keeping themselves calm and collected enough to decipher their enemies attack patterns

  • @nazi30215 What i meant to say was -:

Yes during WW2 the Japanese were shockingly horrendous in what they did "but" in every day culture they are what "we" should aspire to be.

  • @nazi30215 And so continues the world of the fuck wit. I am white and i admire the Japanese, Chinese & Koreans as having some of the greatest sets of principles, decency, self respect & discipline known to man. Yes during WW2 the Japanese were shockingly horrendous in what they did in every day culture they are what "we" should aspire to be.

If you want to focus on something cultural that is negative, focus on the Muslim influence across Europe, England & Australia. That's the real problem!

  • Comment removed

  • @nazi30215 i honestly think its the other way round, i mean look at this white guy drooling over Japanese culture, plus you don't have to be Japanese to realise the Japanese have the most beautiful, civilised, honourable and hygenic culture & society in the world.

  • @nazi30215 haha how ignorant are you? have you ever heard of the word 'gaijin'? realise what that means and you will realise how the traditional japanese view is on whites

  • No. 1 Movie

  • katanau urusek but he doesnt drop the sword...

  • Tom Cruise's best performance ever..Whose with me?

  • just like the movie "NINJA "

  • Wie gern wer ich da. Ich wer so gern ich dieser Zeit oder in dem Film und ich würde mit voller hingabe da für Kampfen ein Samurai zu sein.Gott wie ich den Film und die Samurai verehre.

  • were gonna be watching this movie in my geography clazs

  • Watch 13 Assassins. It makes this movie look like it was made by disney.

  • @Eso1 you compare it to 13 assassins ??? did you even understand the movie ??

  • @RIPhikennoace Yes. Tom cruise has a drinking problem, and capitalism kills.

  • @Eso1 I was thinking about checking out that movie, but if that is your answer then I really don't have any respect for your opinion.

  • I love the movie and I think it's one of the best movies of Tom Cruise. What makes the movie fascinating is not the story, but the exploration of the samurai culture.

  • Should be cruise's best movie ever ...

  • The very last war makes me CRY more than any DRAMA STORY I had ever watched

I believe if they didn't make this movie we will still have these brave Samurai until today : )

    Long Live them!

  • At 4:30 ... it was Shibuya 1870 !

  • Hmmm been awhile ... I think I'll have to watch this tonight :)

  • i'd like to dedicate ths fantastic music to the japanese people.

  • this movie, is one of the greatest movies, EVER. i love it. and i love samurai culture

  • Shogun 2 Total war vs. Empire Total war

  • @Ibram13Gaunt Shogun is better ^^

  • @FryAndy of course

  • The people who disliked this video should commit hiri kiri (ritual suicide). Thumbs up if you agree. For they have forsaken their honour!

  • When I was at my early 20s I also got emotionally affected by this movie, strongly. But when I look back now I feel silly :)

  • @H770907 Dont. I cried like a little girl

  • chilllllls

  • "Tell me how he died. I will tell you how he lived." Epic.

  • This was Inspired in the Bakufu Rebells, I read some of it and is Intoxicating the blend of cultures the Bakufu Rebels had with Eugenne Collage the french officer during the Seibon War.

  • See? Traditional Asian culture whether Chinese, Japanese, Thai, or whatever,

there was a high regard for respect, discipline, humility, and honor. Not like most Westerners who are enslaving, arrogant, and spoiled.

  • @aa3gunner Europe had an equal period of time. And 'honour' for samurai, if you researched in to it, especially in the period of Sengoku Jidai period. The modern, romanticised ideas of Samurai came about after this, in the 250 years of peace under the Tokugawa Dynasty. - They had no wars, so they wrote and philosophised instead. They were simple warriors, of a warrior caste, devouted to serving their lord, failing to would mean death - they would backstab each other simply to progress higher.

  • whats de songs name at 01:45

  • @echo69peanut

But, they would give the persians a fight, that they will never forget, and would never recover of it...

It's like honor and ethics (Samurai) VS Slavery and forced (Persian)

  • The guy who plays Ujiro is the greatest modern day samurai actor since the guy who played Ogami Itto in LWAC. I would pay to see him beat up Tom Cruise IRL any day!

  • this is real patriotism, fuck you western asses.

  • Whats the music at 8:13 ?

  • @gamepown88 red warrior by hans zimmer

  • @echo69peanut All I would do is fire some cowardly(according to the spartans) Siege weapons at that nice formation of spartans and completley oblierate them. The main weakness of the spartans is thier lack of ranged troops. Even if they had peasents with bows, They would have been a lot better in combat.

  • @echo69peanut Samurai had a ritual that before battle they would go up to the enemy and shout out thier name and thier accomplishments, then the enemy, who feels he can beat them, Challenges them. And it is thier duty to find eachother on the battlefield and have a 1v1 duel.

  • @echo69peanut Deadliest warrior proved that the spartans would outmatch samurai in individual combat, though between individual people is hard to say. Spatans carry a massive shield which acts as a barrier with many others in the phalnyx which is why they could beat the persians. The samurai were very close when they ran the simulation 1000 times,it was something like 526-474 spartans

  • @selkirkswift And Deadliest Warrior is the most accurate show on the earth, right? well they showed that thier show is total BS when they said that Swat was better than GSG 9. GSG 9 Hold the highest rank in The World Swat Challenge.

  • @echo69peanut Well, 300 spartans didn't stop the persian army. Besides In reality the spartans were an extremley defensive solider that was meant to fight in a group of many. So holding off a persian army would be more of a spartans strong suit.

  • @echo69peanut I'm Asian background so I prefer the Samurai 0.o

  • @RepDestroyer Spartans are shit. They don't deserve respect like Samurai warriors. They were a bunch of half naked guys!

  • @NgJackal1990 Dude, you can't compare Spartans and Samurai! They both represent different values, the Spartans took pride in their well built bodies, and that's why they were fighting naked, regardless you should study more and then jump to conclusions. We are talking about two different people, different ways of life, language, beliefs and civilizations.

  • @BILLTOMARIOS HAHAHAH I like the part about bodies building and that's why they were fighting naked! If you're a fan of Spartans, I apologize for my rudeness. I'm in favor of Samurai than Spartans though :-p

  • I fucking hate how they made tom cruise so special it pisses me off. Like a fucking foreigner would be at the front of a fucking group of samurai's withing a few months.

BULLSHIT!!! He should be at the back of the group

  • @MrDontstareitsrude You're the bullshit dude, it's just a movie and it's damn good.

  • How can i be a member of the Sakura Clan ?

  • @uzo70 I don't understand your question? Sakura is a tree!

  • @NgJackal1990 it is a question for Karaeka73

  • He would have wanted you to have it, that the strength of the Samurai be with you always. Tell me how he died... I will tell you how he lived.

  • Samurai would be the greater warrior for sure I think. But possibly not the better soldier. They are not the same thing. And the samurai were a social class and not all Bushi. Even so their soul occupation was not war. They were also encouraged to learn the arts, like flower arrangement and poetry. The program "The Deadliest Warrior" is idiocy, like comparing Hulk to Thor, completely meaningless.

  • Weren't the islands created after sinking a yari not a katana?

  • sAmUrAi SwOrD iS cOoL

  • @RepDestroyer

Haha DEADLIEST WARRIOR made an episode about this, it was the closing episode of season 1 i think, back for blood it was called.

  • @Morinul Whatever the outcome was, in reality the samurai would have won. Their soul occupation in life was war. Much more diciplined in basic life too.

  • @Nemesis0300

Yes i thought that to, however the spartan won, i was really angry about that, samurai was a far greater warrior !

  • @Morinul I promise you that wouldn't have happened. Samurai fought many pike men in their time, and could easily get passed their weapons. Not to mention in all out war, the samurai would run behind the army and fire arrowns straight oppose to over head to confuse and dismember. Plus the Samurai had calvary and trained every day without fear of death. You were right to be angry -- they probably did it for the fans anyway because I can't see how they came to that conclusion.

  • If I were to retire i might move to Japan, where my cousins live in. Its almost too quiet but not peaceful enough in Japan

  • the scene that starts at 4:18 is just EPIC..u just can't help but to feel so much respect for what they represent the to people as u see them practically kneeling in front of them..Indeed that movie was one of the best ever made..so powerful..it brings a lot of emotion

  • @Mc4tunay Second that. Shivers! But then I look at the laid back one (the dark-skinned samurai who said "but he's still ugly!") chewing the straw, and I start laughing!

I love Bob. And the little one,- Taka's youngest son. - "Mimi! Mimi!" And Ujio.

  • @EscargoTouChaud lol when he says "he's still ugly".its crazy funny because you're like wtf? its tom cruise dude lmaoo

  • @Mc4tunay I know! :D But I guess beauty over there at the time had different criteria. It's crazy nowadays how many Asians worship Western beaty, have their eyelids operated and dye their hair to resemble White people. Look at the Japanese actors from this film and others. Nothing wrong with that kind of beauty, I say.

  • @Mc4tunay or of fear they seem to be cowering but i haven't seen the movie.

  • @stormhaul222 u should definitely..u wont regret it

  • @Mc4tunay

Do a YouTube search on 'The Rape of Nanking' and you might have a different view.

  • オレは映画館に3回行った。

I went to the movie theater three times.

  • @RepDestroyer something tells me the samarai would easily cutt of all the fingers of the spartan. Mayber half of their head and take some flesh out of one of thier legs before the spartan found a way to end the samarai completely.

  • The scene where Algren defiantly fights Ujio with the wooden swords in the rain, no matter the result, never quitting. THAT is what the world doesnt realize about American might, spirit and resolve! It is not shameful to fail. It is shameful to stop trying untill you cannot move an inch!!

  • ハンス最高

  • The Last Samurai is the greatest movie ever.

  • @Varjostin

No it isn't. It's good, but nowhere near the greatest.

  • @Varjostin

If that's truly what you think, I feel sorry for you

  • @Varjostin One of the greatest (let's not go too far)

  • @Varjostin no its not..

  • @Varjostin I love you.

  • @RepDestroyer Here you go buddy: Deadliest Warrior: Samurai Vs Spartan > watch?v=zfxZGiJk_iE&feature=related

  • i gotta say....even though i've seen the film, they way you put it all together in just 10 min was awesome Good Job!

  • this film aims to strenghten the fruitful relationship of Japan and US

    haha

  • @evasassy i loled

  • @evasassy Historically, it was the french military who trained the Japanese, just movie purposes, they made it for Americans, so American background.

  • should have showed the entire cavalry scene

  • "He fought with the samurai?"

    "He IS samurai."

  • On way home. Long day

  • if only samurai were around today :D that would be awesome!

  • where did you get these clips from? please reply because i want to watch it full

  • Miss you, hope you are doing fine. :) A! big time.

  • Too many mind...the warrior and his mental issues but yet the honor i'n him saves his own soul eventually. A! I am good you know me.

  • Watched this film not long ago. I have to say, this was a great film. I really like to watch this again. I think this was the 2nd time I've watched it.

  • I HOPE U ADD IN SAKE

  • anyone know the name of the song from 4:19 to 5:34 ???

    thanks ;)

  • thx a milions times for the video!!

  • The last samurai was actually French, his name was Jules Brunet. And there's a true story.

  • @Guildou

You're talking about military advisors sent by the French Army?

Yeah, some sources have proved at least 5 French military personnel took the side of Tokugawa ministration, refused to surrender, fought against the newly organized Japanese government backed by the British.

    They finally surrendered in 1869.

  • @truthquest

    lol

No, I talk about Jules Brunet who's story inspired the film "The last samurai".

  • @truthquest

"A revolution is forcing the Military Mission to return to France. Alone I stay, alone I wish to continue, under new conditions, the results obtained by the Mission, together with the Party of the North, which is the party favorable to France in Japan. Soon a reaction will take place, and the Daimyos of the North have offered me to be its soul".

    — Jules Brunet, Letter to Napoleon III

There's a very good video on Jules Brunet on Youtube, short and very good.

  • I absolutely LOVE the smile that Simon Graham gives from 4:37 - 4:39... to me, I read it as a combination of "Wow, this is cool to see" + "How majestic/powerful they present themselves" + "Cool! Nathan's back!" :)

  • OMG! It's Les Grossman!

  • I love old movies like this(this and Tora!Tora!Tora!, Platoon) and some new ones that uses very little effects like The Pacific and Band of Brothers, those people and explosions are not CG and that's what make a movie EPIC xD !!! (but ofcourse they ain't cheap lol)

  • great vid! epic film. the battle at the end is one of the best in any movie! hans zimmer has to be the best composer in movie history

  • I dont see why they had to take away the samurai and their way of life. They were the peacekeepers and upheld justice. This makes me wanna renew the old way of the samurai and hell, Im White! lol

  • @BigDunker1992 its like how we tool away the chivalry from knights its very similar well except that they were killed or forced to change where as the knights were just phased out but still and having the population the world has it would be too hard to bring those ways back youd need huge government initiatives and it would still take a while but it would be cool haha

  • Hans Zimmer and Ken watanabe made this film good... like Inception :))

  • For the real story, check Jules Brunet... He was a French officer and his story is much more amazing than the movie one... Of course, Hollywood couldn't made a movie with a French hero... ;-))

  • I put the saying from "the moment they wake they devote themselves to perfection in whatever they do" on facebook cuz i like that saying. and not one of my friends knew it. i felt so disappointed

  • Tell me how he died?

I will tell you how he lived.

Every time i hear this sentence i get chills fucking awesome movie

  • All that's missing is the bit where they talk amongst the cherry blossoms, and Katsumoto hands him back the things he'd taken earlier and says, "When I took these you were... my enemy."

I love that scene. That sums up Katsumoto's intelligence right there. He doesn't say that Algren is no longer his enemy, or that Algren is his friend. All of that is in the way he says that when he took them, Algren had been his enemy.

  • EXCELLENT CHOICES !!!!

  • ban zai !!!!!!!!

  • I missed a lot of scenes that I thought were the best. Like the last fight where they all bow for the last samurai...

  • @Karateka73,

You captured my favorite scenes from this incredible movie! I wish they hadn't cut the

original beginning where Sanada is confronted in the town. The interaction between

he and Cruise is brilliant. Ben Watanabe is such an amazing actor as well. You did

    a wonderful job! Thank you!

    Darkwolfhowlslak

  • excellent,it beautiful

  • speechless

    its not to be samurai

    its about ur soul

    its about ur spirit

that we wont be brake of anything even our fear

  • GREAT JOB FOR AN EXCELLENT MOVIE.

  • great job man. it was beuatifull

  • The Taiko Drums heralding the Samurai enter at 4.18... simply magnificent

  • I thought the myth was a jeweled spear was dipped in the ocean..?

  • Last Samurai is my ALLTIME Favorite Movie. Perfect! THX for this Video.

  • Stand up! white guy scene....full respect to those keep trying to stand up.

  • I think the scene beginning at 4:18 where Tom Cruise rides back into town with the samurai, now his friends, and you see the expression of awe on the translator's face, is one of the best scenes in the movie. Thanks for including this!

  • Such respect from the crowds.

  • notevole la bellezza di questo passaggio complimenti

  • Kenjutsu practice 03:52 really good done. This movie is made by Hollywood film industry, but not in the Hollywood style.

  • How can you not like this?

  • excellent work bro . . really intellectual

  • Thanks :-)

  • @Karateka73 haha shit watching this again just made me download it ! 1080p baby!

  • This movie is one giant beautiful look into the forgotten world of the samurai

  • @shotb1963 lol no australian. its easy to be cruel to prisoners and criminals. its easy to train. but their beliefs can only be tested when they are about to die or kill themselves and if they were ever captured in a war i bet they would beg and be grateful to their captors making them and their "perfection" highly hypocritical. i highly doubt that there were many samurai's like this and if there were it would have been out of conditioning rather than bravery

  • what martial art do the samurai incorporate?

  • @Cornish1Pirate what? Kyudo, Iaido, Aikijutsu

  • @Karateka73,

I couldn't agree more! The Last Samurai was one of the best movies I've ever seen, I

loved it. I especially enjoyed Hiroyuki Sanada, Shin Koyamada and of course, Ken

Watanabe, brilliant actors! This was Tom Cruise's best film. Thank you for sharing

    this beautiful video with us.

    Darkwolfhowlslak

  • who dont like THIS??????

    the movie is top!

  • @RepDestroyer Well the Spartans were the strongest soldiers of the old times, but the Samurai have more agility and their armour is easy to use and wear so its like a stalemate.

  • just got the blue ray of this ....awesome!!!

  • the men who call themselves samurai are hypocrites until they meet the end. only then can they prove themselves samurai. anyone can play with swords and i bet there are many Japanese hypocrites

  • if only more movies could be this excellently awesome.

  • i♥it♥i Epic movie!!! There are indeed honor, beauty, and dignity in 武士道/Bushidou/Way of the Warrior. Thank you very much for making & sharing this great montage *^o^* Stunning work & Biiig thumbs-up!!! i♥it♥i

  • japan whas made by hounorful men that gave their life for the country.

  • You could say it´s the story of dances with wolves in japanese but it´s still one of the best movies i have ever seen :)

  • @GaiusMaximusJulius its a billion times better then that snore fest dances with wolves...ugh that movie is so boring.
