The mbs was compromised after kitt got showered with a liquid whilst passing what i think was a small drainage or roadworks crew, they discovered the mbs had splintered when examining a piece under a microscope. It always baffled me how kitt didn't notice something was wrong. I thought that was the time he was rebuilt by a load of fellas instead of just in the semi, and got the "C" button for a cabriolet roof - but i could be wrong.
@russ13b Michael was shot and decided to leave FLAG and marry an old girlfriend established in earlier episodes (Hoff's real wife at the time). When the bad guys came after him and killed his wife, he went after them and back to FLAG (Scent Of Roses) Season 4.
Quite possibly. I remember the later/last episodes having an on-going theme of security/safety issues at his home due to the gad guys deciding they're going to have michael's life, and there being a woman involved. I think it was this which made michael decide to leave the foundation and disappear.
I can imagine how much Wilton Knight didn't want to know anything about his son, or that powerhungry mother of his.
