  • Seymour Philip Hoffman?

  • god this award show is so pretensious i wish the joker would just come in and crash that party

  • @drumdemon3 he was better than Nicholson as The Joker...While Nicholson is one of the greatest actors of all time Nicholson played himself...I don't agree that it's the greatest performance of ALL TIME...for the last 10 years it is the greatest villain in cinematic history that I agree with...

  • @AQuestionOrSomethin4 the greatest Joker of all time definitely and the performance was amazing...but greatest performance of ALL TIME...maybe in the last 10 years it certainly is

  • @tommyleepwns uhm..you can't compare Nicholson's 60 year career to Heath's...he died very young and never got the chance to show his full potential...of course it's not the best performance of ALL TIME, but for the last 10 years it certainly is...

  • i remembered when i walked out of the theater and i told my boyfriend, Heath Ledger is going to get a Oscar.

  • @lovelion2001 I said the same thing to my friend as we came out of the theatre

  • I took the time to see Doubt, Milk, Tropic Thunder, Revolutionary Road & The Dark Knight.

With no disrespect to the dead. When I saw MICHAEL SHANNON's performance in Revolutionary Road. That scene in the dining room? I thought that was fucking brilliant! For a moment I forgot he's playing the part. I watched it a few times & still got the same impact. It's riveting, compelling and it really deserved an Oscar.

  • @cerulean202 I don't think you're being disrespectful. You saw all five nominated performances and made your decision who deserved the Oscar. And for you that was Michael Shannon

  • @cerulean202 Heath also dissapeared into the role completely...there was no trace of him in that movie...but you're not disrespectful everybody has their favourites:)

  • damn that ring on angelina's finger is massive.

  • Heath deserved it; his acting in The Dark Knight was phenomenal. Especially considering how hard it would be to play such a twisted character. He was an incredible actor, and his portrayal of the Joker was mind-blowing.

  • @blairfowler14 wtf dude ??

  • @blairfowler14 not true it was one amazing performance and he deserved that Oscar...watch the whole movie and see for yourself...there is no Heath in that movie just The Joker...

  • 151 are douchebags and never saw the dark knight

  • when his family got up onstage, i didn't know who was going to break down first, the audience or me.

  • a little part of me wanted robert downey jr to win

  • it would be a real dick move if they played the 'wrap-it-up' music

  • why do all great mind have to die young :( ..

  • This was always the one death of an artist the continues to tear and probably will forever tear at me. We loved you Heath. Truly a master of his craft and good human being.

  • Christopher Walken's tie is bothering me so much....

  • 6:41 genius

  • @3dberserk1 I thumbed up your comment but I feel like telling you that you're awesome for this. (:

  • Made me cry he is a legend

  • watching this made me tear up. Heath was a brightly lit beacon of tremendous talent and it is such a shame that he had to die so soon... Listening to his family talk was agonising as you not only feel the pain conveyed through their touching words but also see the cutaways of Heath's 'peers' also feeling that pain and being so emotional over the death of one of our generation's fantastic and unforgettable actors. Thank you, Heath, you will be forever remembered. Rest in Peace.

  • did anyone notice Robert Downey Jr's laughter when Cuba talked about him playing a black guy?

  • Michael Shannon = Christopher Walken. Same person.

  • @BrooksKnudsen Exactly!!

  • they should have had cuba gooding jr. go in white face to play an australian white guy who is playing a black guy.

  • lol at jennifer aniston and john mayer

  • Those Oscars were the best! :)))

  • "Seymour Phillip Hoffman" Anybody else notice that?

  • @jakeiverson57 honest mistake. even phil laughed it off

  • "He got everyone's intention%$&*^err for sure..."

  • one of the greatest movie talents we had in the last 30 years.

  • Chris Nolan looks so miserable. </3

  • the Oscars are all the Cult tuxedo Ego entertainers cashing in to Jewish fortunes that don't really care about all ethnicity. Marlon Brando said it best. What is with this Joker face in the background!! rather Heath's regular face. the family weren't that touched, but look like nice conservative Aussies.

  • Can you see how Sean Penn, Adrien Brody, Angelina Jolie and Anne Hathaway are almost crying. And everybody else looks so sad in audiens? So sad...

  • @Meehis D'you see Brad Pitt? Looks like he's on the brink of tears

  • Academy Award Winner Seymourphilip Hoffman

  • why didnt he accept in person? hes not one of those pretentious douchebags who doesnt care about awards is he?

  • @Marty0Mcfly he died, dude.

  • @Marty0Mcfly dude he died 4 years ago.

  • @Marty0Mcfly umm no... he died..

  • @Marty0Mcfly Heath passed away before the Oscars happened that year. How dare you criticize a legend who left behind a great legacy!!

  • gosh, when i first saw the dark knight, i can remember when the movie started and everyone was silent.

heath's performance was absulutly amazing, i genuinly wonder what he would have said if he had still been alive when this happened.

you can literally see tears in everyones eyes here and i had some too, especially when his sister was talking about heath being there and that they wish he could have been there too.

    RIP heath.

  • Did anybody else notice how they gave robert downey jr's part to cuba gooding jr just because he played a 'black' guy?lol

  • @MrJabberwocky91 And Chris Walken introduced Micheal Shannon, the new Chris Walken.

  • how his mom colud be so calm ???

  • i wish they would have continued the oscars with this format! it's so much better; actually interesting and personal.

  • Did Alan Arkin mispronounce Philip Seymour Hoffman's name on purpose or by an accident?

  • Way to sit the family in the balcony. Took them forever to make their way to the stage.

  • Man, I miss Heath Legend :(

  • Everyone's faces in the crowd still breaks my heart. Especially Anne's. :(

  • Without the joker in the category, i'd give the award to Michael Shannon

  • a lot of people said that heath won only because he is dead. and academy wanted to make a tribute. but i don't think so. heath won because he was an amazing actor. and alive or dead, in that year he deserved that oscar

  • @Minority88 i absolutely agree !!

  • omg.. john mayer sitting next to jennifer aniston.. so weird..

  • Ok, now I'm depressed, fuck.

  • @Dooaklar Same. :(

  • @Dooaklar same. :(

  • this was devastating to watch. i loved heath so much. so many memorable films that we will all remember for a long time in a short career cut short. such a tragedy.

  • Sean Penn is crying 5:33!

  • Heath Ledger as the Joker was absolutely phenomenal! I was floored. Heath was a rare actor among us.

  • Believe it or not, years I went to elementary with Cuba Gooding, Jr. He was a cool friend and I was in tears when he won!! He has inspired me to become a screenwriter.

  • Thumbs up if you are still watching this in 2012 and miss Heath like crazy! RIP For ever the Joker.

  • HEATH LEGEND!

  • I cried watching this.

  • i started crying when i saw kim ledger...heath looked just like him :'(

  • @63weezer: Amen to that!

  • Don't care what anyone says; Ledger gave the best performance that year, and one of the best ever. Films are worse without Heath Ledger in them.

  • i wonder if all the other actors realized they really didn't have a chance.

  • Brad and Angelina looks as if they are crying.

  • @uhupuh Yeah isn't it shocking? Because normally they seem like they only care about themselves.

  • --Jack Nicholson as the Joker was sooo spot on that no one would even attempt to reprise this role. The mold was broken in 89. This is what makes Heath Ledger's portrayal so significant. Ledger was tasked with creating a darker & sinister character than Nicholson's. Ledger's role was able to stand 'toe to toe' with Jack's.

  • @63weezer I think Ledger was much better than Nicholson's, I love dark characters.

  • If Heath hadn't won, MICHAEL SHANNON should have! He is SO good he could be the next Joker. Seriously, I love Heath Ledger with all my life force, but check out Michael Shannon in Revolutionary Road. It will BLOW your MIND.

  • never would have thought that Michael Shannon who is playing DC character General Zod now got nominated with marvel character Iron man Downing Jr and both lost against the brillant performance by Ledger for a best comic villan of all time joker a DC character. Whats next Bale winning next year.....wait a sec

  • The sadness in everyone's eyes is so touching.

  • rest in peace Heath_Ledger

  • 147 people didnt see the dark knight

  • HE DEFINTELY DESERVED!! NO DOUBT ABOUT THAT

  • The Joker will never ever be represented with the absolute passion Heath Ledger presented.. RIP Heath.

  • Christopher Walken and Heath Ledger...two villians from a Batman film.

  • 147 people didnt see the dark knight.

  • Robert Downey Jr.!

  • I almost cried . .. UGH . .:( Micheal Jacksons death didnt even make me cry this much

  • legend

  • Made me chill...a lot!

  • because of him, the joker is and will always be my favorite villain <3

  • @xdominiquesmileyx well said

  • I wonder if they let his family know in advance that he would be winning the award, so they would be emotionally prepared to go and stand in front of all those people.

  • @devadasi I think everyone knew he was gonna win..

  • @devadasi If you are nominated if I remember correctly you are told ahead of time, just incase you are chosen so you know what to do.

  • They all cry for him...

  • heath ledger had so many things to give in cinema.....

  • Man, Sean Penn was in the verge of crying.....

  • ohh heath ya me hubiera gustado un "the joker origins" :___(

  • i had a vision of a world without batman the mob ground out a little profit and the police tried to shut them down one block at a time and it was so.....boring i had a change of heart i dont want these 147 dislikers spoiling everything but why should i have all the fun!? lets give someone else a chance, if these 147 dislikers arnt dead in 60 minutes then i blow up a hospital ............

  • wow... he called in seymor phillip hoffman. can't even get your nominees name correct lol

  • Although Heath was excellent in this and definitely deserved to win, he probably wouldn't have gotten even a nomination if he hadn't died. Just stating the truth.

  • seymor philip hoffman? Ummm...

  • people didn't understand my bereavement. I don't think I really got over it, it gotta be weird somehow as I never met him. But fuck it, he was the man. R.I.P

  • This is so sad... I can't not cry when I watch this. ;~;

  • The Joker and Casanova were portrayed by the same actor.

That's Heath Ledgers' Mettle !! Unfortunately these were the only 2 movies of him I ever got to see!! But he got my respect with just 2 of them !!

  • Heath Ledger portrayed a character which required so much skill, and undoubtedly he played it to perfection. Heath Ledger, the way you played joker, was so amazing that I actually was hating the Joker and was practically numb by jokers' every next move !!

    May you always R.I.P.

You gave us a masterpiece !!

  • I understand the sentiment, but Josh Brolin should have won this one. His acting in Milk was close to perfection.

  • @solozzovienna gtfo

  • @solozzovienna lol no way :D

  • @solozzovienna wrong.

  • @solozzovienna Troll harder hipster.

  • health ledger took himself too seriously but he really did deserve this.

  • bittersweet very sad but he so deserved that award

  • Thank you for posting this, Oscars.

  • i know it's all about heath ledger, but it would have been nice to see michael shannon winning the award, he's a terrific actor and there aren't that many chances for him to be recognized for that =/

  • @anarchyXever - agreed... although i guess Heath ledger will never have another chance to be recognised... Michael Shannon is doing just fine without that award

  • Uno de los mejores momentos del Oscar de todos los tiempos.

  • kate ledger is hot

  • @zarenlug20 Hell yeah.

  • am i the only one who thinks that it was actually quite disrespectful to put heaths family at the back instead if leaving them more near the front where all the other nominees were?

they were there for him and there to represent him, and deserved every place near the other nominees.

  • What is Aniston doing there?

  • yeah, crying

  • 7:15 nice of you to join us

  • everyone knew heath is going to win, not only for his great portrayal as a joker, but his contribution to the cinema.

  • haha 3:08 robert downey junior first laughing and then not.

  • Cuba!

  • Did anyone see John Mayer at 2:05?

  • We all miss you Heath Andrew Ledger<3

  • I remember watching this with my parents. It was so...quiet. ....

  • Heath Ledger is a legend.

  • Anne looked like she was going to bawl! :( he did a great job in this movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :] <3333333

  • honestly even if he was alive i think his performance in the cinema would have deserved it

  • Heath Ledger earned that oscar. It was too bad that he did not get a chance to actually hold it.

  • 146 people are stupid

  • XD Robert Downey's facial expressions....I keep seeing Sherlock Holmes!! I love him. And God I wish Heath Ledger still lived.....so much talent :(. He is definetly missed, and his Joker was now and will remain a legend.

  • what happened to Robert Downey jr´s face reactions during his moment? He was like sarcastically laughing

  • Angelina Jolie's dad. He is older now

  • Wow, Adrian Brody, Angelina Jolie, all of them were getting emotional in the audience.

  • "Seymour Phillip Hoffman"

  • yeah every one is touching there..

  • who dislikes this beautiful moment?

  • in the end her sister said, on behalf of your beauty....What?? I don´t understand

  • @Leanmar100 "on behalf of your beautiful Matilda" Matilda is his daughter.

  • god i cried like a bitch
