Bad ass car man, does it have a boss 429 in it? The funny part is that people saying its not a hemi itsa semi hemi. That is true it has two quench areas next to the valves. It is oriented like a chrysler in its valve lay out. The reall funny part is this is exactly how the new 5.7 and 6.1 are done from chrysler, yet still called a hemi. Check out my video on My dads boss 429 doing a burn out, its grey and real, ps i love chryslers too my 65 plymouth is in the garage.
Right on, 859 in 1969 and 499 in 1970. Most of them have very low milage due to the fact that they were produced at the height of the oil crises. Hell I couldn't afford to run one even today! That's a lot of hungry cubes to feed!
was on ebay? How much did you sell it for. I know the real things are worth a fortune. How much is a close copy like this worth? Probably still a shitload I'm guessing.
I don't give a shit if it's a "REAL" one or not. I'll take it. Some of us poor bastards aren't that fuckin picky. We cant spend six figures on a damn car. The thing looks and sounds great.
The Mach1 was a step up price wise from the GT but not as expensive as the Boss. Also, in '69 and '70 you could get a Boss with a 302 whereas the Mach1 only offered the 427. This car has the 427 engine.
Yeaaah I know.. Cars are expensive as shit here too.. instead of driving mustangs and vettes, we have to make due with citroen saxos and vw golfs.. Thumbs up for that.. :/
Im a bit sceptical here,1 it says Boss 302 on the decal, not Boss 429, 2 It may be a 429, but is it a boss 429? The aluminum semi Hemi heads on real boss 429s arent exactly what you can call abundant. With only a couple thousand Boss 429's made. And the boss heads had very poor casting quality as noted by Hot Rod magazine in a build up they featured with some heads that were found in a machine shop, and needed hrs of patch work to even be usable. Nice looking car, just wish you opened the hood
If its going to be called a clone, then it needs to have the Boss 429 decals on it to be the definition of what a clone is. He also needs to rip the cobra off the grill, and open the hood to prove its a Boss 429, and not a traditional 385 series headed 429 pulled out of an old dump truck.
Really? I thought a clone was supposed to be an EXACT copy of an original factory optioned vehicle, not a bunch of mismatched badges, and decals from a resto house.
By definition a clone is an exact or CLOSE copy of an existing car. A clone package ususally ony gives specs on the body and chassis, what one does as far as decals etc. goes is aftermarket and pretty much up to their own prerogative. I would want a dead ringer, myself, if I had a clone car but there is nothing on the books to dictate that all aspects must be exact.
of course its a fake ford only made 500 boss 429's and only 8 still exist, most of em went down due to shock tower collapse, famed rocker alice cooper still has his, a pearl white plain jane beauty, his has no decals and a shaker hood scoop. alices knows a true detroit classic...
ford made various models that were tagged 429, the 429 semi hemi (hemispherical heads) 429 basic (for use in trucks) 429 cj and super cj (cobra jet) used in thunderbirds, torinos and the 1970 mustang, the 429 hemi everyone is talking about has the head design similar to that of dodge's hemi where the underside of the cylinder head is shaped as half a circle and the spark plug holes is in the very center of the top of the head. in my opinion the ford hemi's were not that great.
It says Boss 302 on the front quarters. Bacically a 4 bolt main small-block with large-valve Cleveland 351 style heads and large ( 780cfm ). Made great power at high reve, not so much at low revs.
Boss 429's had hemi-style heads on a stout 385-series (429-460) block. Street versions were handicapped with a mild cam and small (730 cfm) carb. Like the Boss 302, great high rpm power, less so at low rpm. With a decent cam and carb, Boss 429's were easily the equal of Chrysler's Hemi.
the problem with the boss 429 hemi engine was that ford did not put strong enough valve springs to let it rev to the right point of power like the 426 did rev at 7gs the boss did not thats why it was not as good and the boss 302 was faster
Real Boss429s had a simple BOSS429 badge on the fender where this one shows BOSS302. ALSO, the real BOSS429s had a much larger hood scoop...this is a non-shaker mach 1 hood scoop.
Did you modify the shock towers for this engine? Or did you install a non Boss 429?
i dont care if it has hemi whatever just give it to me. i will pay you with all my gratitude and a huge amount of money if i ever win the lottery, i dont think i would ever win since i never play. but just give that car to me.
Is it just me or is there music playing in the background of this video? I swear it sounds like Aerosmith or something, especially when the camera moves around to the right side. Is it my imagination?
Really nice car man love the color, I have a 69 coupe in orange and matt black. Nice taste, sounds nice, mine is only a baby 302 but does get along ok. Have fun with it. Cheers
stop trying to rip people off, we all know this isnt a boss 429, but your trying to get un informed people on ebay to think it is and pay big maoney, it looks nothing like a boss 429, and since when did a Boss come with Cobra badging?
It was an aftermarket conversion part designed by a company named Ardun Manufacturing. They were first used overall though, back in 1903 by foreign automakers.
first of all that is stuped for that guy to say it has a mopar hemi. but back in the day the did call the boss 429 a semi hemi. i think it had something to do with the heads

He just made it look like a Boss 302, that doesn't mean he has a 302 in it. He could very well have a 429.

whats wrong with it, only clue is late model Mach 1 rims and tires, otherwise it looks original, at least from what I can see.

Where to begin???
1. the boss "302" paint job, decals
2. the mach 1 hood scoop
3. the 03-04 mach 1 wheels
4. the shelby snake on the grill
It's like calling a v8 vega swap car a corvette because they both have 350 v8's in them.
