@MrSpanishVato i did notice that but i think thats a good note for the acetone because if he was driving slower without the acetone the mpg should have being higher so by getting 36-38 with the acetone and considering he was going faster i would say it deff worked, a concern i have tho is that i have done some research and they recommend to put about 2 oz. per 10 gallons and this guy used 2 oz per gallon so thats deff something to test out or mess with.
@RadioTrefoil Mythbusters is bogus. They said it was impossible to flip a car using a jet engine....simply because THEY weren't able to do it. It's been done by others many times, there's video to prove it.
They also said the Bedini magnet motor was impossible....it was because they forgot to put magnets on it.

just to let you know, where I used to live the one gas station run by pakistani's were charged $5000 for adding acetone to the supply.. (more money for less gasoline)
And the reason? Acetone ruins your engine faster then gasoline..
you want better fuel mileage, add an accelerent like, HYDROGEN (yes those HHO things)
the reason it works is adding h2 to ant fuel makes it more explosive, = you use less gas the more h2 put in.
NO not on water.. electrolysis on water = Hydrogen and oxygen.
am i the only one who noticed the acetone made the mpgs drop by 1? and acetone fucks up your engine. less miles on the car before engine failure AND less mpgs AND after acetone costs
This works, been doin' it for a few years. Keep out of the throttle, do the oil changes, watch your driving habits, if you don't even this won't help you.
@TheMuslimKiller from what I read Acetone is a higher octane fuel that would increase the octane. But it is a hotter burning fuel and longer burning it helps burn more of the fuel so it doesn't go out the tail pipe. the problem is when you burn more the fuel it is a leaner burn increasing MPG. When this happens the car computer will see it has leaner burn and adjust it back to its 14.7 - 1 mix and back down goes MPG.
@tonysmith53214 OKay givin the fact that no one can be trusted these days. When presented the options. The guys at mythbusters have years of expirence and had never been accused of telling a lie so far. or someone from youtube,
@MrJumentous yeah I watch them and think what woulda happened if they didn't forget the Lye in the run your car on water myth..
But they did prove a car will tun on Hydrogen, And you CAN get from water using simple electrolysis.... WITH electrolyte to make the water less of a RESISTER lol
easy enough to boost fuel mileage.. make your own fuel..
BMW hydrogen 7 runs on hydrogen...we cn make hydrogen easily...
I bet wuite a few ppl dont understand how simple it could be.
in this case, youll need to do an oil change and use a bottle of "ENGINE RESTORE" with the new oil change. any auto store has this product. engine restore fills the scours and scratches in the cylinder walls restoring compression. youll restore HP and MPGs. if you want to get more MPGs, then youll have to buy or build what you call an EFIE. electronic fuel injection enhancer. it will help to lean out the fuel mix for the desired MPG increase. but must be tuned properly. all is possible.
ohh yeah, also this is important to know for everyone, if you use too much acetone in your fuel mixture in older engines, youll actually remove the carbon deposits in your cylinder walls that naturally helps to keep up compression. youll cause faster more serious damage as far as wear goes and could ultimately consume oil and fail emissions inspection. good luck ;)
So can you use any type of acetone or do you need a specific amount of acetone? And can you use paint thinner ? And won't acetone break the rubber hoses inside the fuel area?
Gasoline can melt plastic and rubber too, if it isn't the kind designed to resist chemical solvents. And keep in mind that acetone nail polish remover is usually sold in plastic bottles.
I've always monitored my gas mileage with every tank for as long as I can remember. I tried this once using about 1.25 oz to ten gallons of fuel. It did absolutely nothing positive for my fuel economy. I checked snopes and found that the truth is acetone is going to help you at all. Many people have added enough to their gas tank to do significant damage to their vehicle. Were you aware that you were completely full shit when you posted this video? Be careful giving out shit advice!
well thanks to you now i have a fuel electric pump, whit low pressure and 8 leaking inyectors,i have to replace all, plus deal whit check engine and codes
The one thing I know about acetone is it will ruin rubber, so I don't think I'd be putting any of it in my tank to run through gaskets or seals! Maybe in newer vehicles, the gaskets are made of more corrosive resistant rubbers, but if you don't know, don't try it!
you do realize the gasoline you buy at gas stations isn't pure gasoline...it has many additives as well as acetone already put in there by the gas companies to save cost on gasoline...lol...it's not a secret...if you know about it, the gas companies do too
@Jaesango there is no acetone in gasoline already when you buy it.Adding any is foolish, especially 40 ounces per 20 gallons.even people who put in 2 ounces per 10 gallons have ruined their engines.Happend alot in the last 2 years.
HOLY FUCKING SHIT. higher octane dosent mean the gas is more explosive! higher octane gas burns slower the lower octane. so in a high compression car i.e a race car, you'll want higher octane. for a propeller plane, you want lower otane
OK so you spend $12 to $14 on a gallon of acetone to save maybe $6 worth of gas? Silly. Acetone is a refined product meant to be used with paints and plastics, fiberglass, epoxy ect.
Can't acetone really fuck up your fuel injectors if they're plastic? I mean, for just about all cars without a carburetor, that's what the fuel injectors are made out of; plastic.
Also, your O2 sensors, or Oxygen sensors, and spark plugs have A LOT to do with your fuel.
@AGeekWithAShotgun -Most likely. I mean, there is some metal inside of them, but not as much as you would think. But if you think about it, with all the plastic & fiberglass bumpers out there, along with all the metal that has been taken off of the cars these days, well, it really -
step 1. go to OREILLYS not vatozone. step 2. FREE air at CASEYS and your not paying for the air guy. your paying for the pump, and the electricity being used.
I really like your video. I am working on the same thing, but with my silverado, using an ultra-gauge. Right now I m testing my tire pressure and freeway speed to find the best result. I am using the same strip of freeway at 60 mph at 40 psi and 50 psi (my max is 80) I get 21.3mpg everytime. at 30 psi I lost 2.5% fuel efficiency. so I want to try the acetone after i run more test (like air filter, oil change using synthetic oil, and such). I have a 26g tank. so is 52oz the right amount?
i still can't find the courage to put acetone inmy car to see if it works. i did the seafoam challenge though with different results than everybody else.
@mixcatcom just a quick correction. the octane rating of a gasoline does not correlate to power. Putting a high octane fuel in a low compression engine will just cost more. I like your jingle, btw.
I use acetone already for four year, nothing bad have happened so far. Engine runs smoother and some decrease of fuel consumption is observed. I use 60 ml to 90 ml per 40 liters (depends on fuel quality).
I just changed my spark plugs to the iradium plugs, changed the oil, and inflated the tires in my honda civic. prior to doing this, I was getting about 350 miles to 10.5 gallons of gas (33 mpg) . I filled up two weeks ago and have just reached 478 miles to 10.5 gallons of gas or 45.5 mpg. Going to try hypermiling and see what milage I can get out of it, thinking I may be able to increase by 5 mpg. No acetone used.
You can't trust the crap they put on mythbusters. Do you really think a channel with connections to the govt is gonna approve anything that could possibly save you gas? No. They didnt even use the correct gas to acetone ratio on it.
it can't raise the octane, octane levels refer to the percent of the fuel that is fully saturated 8 carbon hydrocarbon chains. Acetone will not act as a catalyst to convert other portions of fuel to octane. however I could see it increasing the efficiency of the combustion process.
this guy is lying look at the dry run the the mph is 40. and with acetone its 50 but the revs stay the sameindicating the car is in a higher gear such as 3rd in the dry run.
@dubphat The EFFECTIVE amount of acetone to add can vary quite a bit per car. The "general purpose" amount is roughly 1oz to 3oz per 10 gallons. The only way to know which amount will work best for your car is to experiment a bit with how much acetone you use. In the last car I had, with a 10 gallon tank I got best results using 1.5 ounces of acetone. If I added 2 ounces my miles per gallon actually dropped, so that's why you have to expirement a bit. MORE IS NOT BETTER when it comes to acetone
my car carries about 55liters of gas in tank and each time I add 50cc of acetone.
55000cc of gas to 50cc. 1/1000.
I feel my car works a little bit livier, than not adding.
I take it as a few drops of salt on meat, too heavy the portion would spoil the dish and raise blood pressure. If you swollow too much salt which may do you harm also.
1-2/1000 of acetone could be good, too much is not necessary. Search google for more information.
umm...take a glass jar and fill it with acetone then put a rubber o-ring in it, it will destroy the rubber. mythbusters didn't show that fact. use acetone, and your fuel line will be "busted"
@tester083 But you aren't FILLING your gas tank with acetone, you are only adding a tiny amount to a LARGE amount of gasoline, thus NOTHING will happen to the fuel line. I've used acetone in all of my cars fuel for over 10 years, even in the older models, and guess what? No disssolved fuel line and no disolved fuel system components either. Hasn't caused ANY damage and keeps things running really smooth with a bit of MPG improvement.
@Pepsifx357 I don't know why you were marked as spam but I totally agree with you. Most of the stuff you see in the media is propaganda. Keep that in mind "It's all bullshit and it's all bad for yah" George Carlin
@nguyenBvinh I didn't realize I had been marked. I guess I understand why. A lot of people like that show, including me. However, I understand that they can't show you everything. Think about "Beating the Breathalyzer." If they did find a way to beat it, do you think they'd show you? At a police station? In the presence of LEOs? Not a chance. I'm not saying that you could or couldn't, but if it were possible they wouldn't show you how on T.V.
You're from Poinciana??? I was tripping out for a second since I used to live out there and moved to Cali before this "The Pointe" shopping center was put up. Crazy. Just wanted to comment on that, haha. I'm definitely going to try this since gas out here is 4.17/gallon. My K&N replacement made a major improvement also.
you think your being riped off, come over to the uk and pay around £6.50 a gallon, its about £1.30 a litre over here! You can do the currency conversion.
@mixcatcom When I think of american cars, I think of cars with huge engines that aren't incredibly efficient or fast, even if it was a lot cheaper then that's pointless.
@Ubojica6661 Update, petrol is now around £1.40 a litre. is comercial gas diesel?? also I dunno what your currency is. but we are all pieved with fuel prices arn't we.
@20RoyalSuperKing hey you shoult go to live mexico in that shit coutry the gas cost is 2.68 usd per galon in uk 1.71 per galon that is save money je je je
@desercat87 You lucky bunch! apart from the congestion charge zone central london which is about $15.67 for the pleasure of driving in central london. I have had to buy a newish van/truck in usd $6500 otherwise with the new LEZ (low emision zone) for small vans/truck I would have to pay $130 just to drive anywhere within the M25, and that will only last me 2 years till I have to buy a euro 5 compliant emiision engined van :D
@desercat87 and u could go live in irak there u pay 0.8 cents a gallon or u could go live with u friend chavez from venezuela there u pay .50cents, then u will be crying comparing those prices with the ones imposed to u by the queen or the ones u pay in america...
why I run half gasoline half Hydrogen..104 milees perr gallon of gasoline, notta clue how much h2, its hard to measure a gas thats lighter then air, comes up negative pounds :-\ maybe I should turn the scale upside down and weigh it.. lol
I would not recommend 40oz that is WAY too much the proper amount is 3OZ per 10 gallons so 6oz for you. the Ratio should be 500:1 anything over that could potentially harm your car anything less than that will not give you any results. You need to understand that pure acetone is a solvent and will break down your seals and plastic components in your engine if you put too much in. Hope this helps
@the1bigace honestly zero would be a lot better than that amount. It doesn't increase mileage that much and can cause engine problems when burning it constantly.
I used to live in England for about three years, and my ex hubby and I used to get around on a motorbike for places that were not close by otherwise we walked, but we didn't have kids either. In the US things are spaced much further away if you don't live in a city, and make using a bike a lot more difficult.
Thanks for the post though Mix Cat. I wish there was something people with diesel vehicles could do. I can't get the bio diesel they talk about.
at 50 mph most cars and half ton truck will average 30-40 mpg. a better example would be at 70 -75 mph. at 50 most vehicels are at a low rpm and low wind resistance . a vehicle that gets 15-20 mpg at 70- 75 would get 30-35 mpg at 50-55. thats why in the 80s they lowered the speed limit to 55. i like the asetone idea , im going to try that
great info. Any suggestions for diesel? I have a 2004 F250 super duty that really gets shity mileage according to the on board comp. It usually displays about 12.5 mtg average. I know the newer modles are getting upwards of 23 miles to the gallon.
I'm going to get a new air filter & a jug of acetone to see if I can bump up the mileage. Wow, I read a post here say $11.00 a gallon in Britain, Man I'd be riding a bike if that happens here.
I thought I heard you say you mix 2 ounces per gallon. All the internet buzz recommends 2 ounces per 10 gallons. Also there are sites where users have posted their results with acetone mixes and it seems that too little or too much can negatively effect the mpgs.
Maybe you might try adding 2 ounces to your next fill up and track the mpg to see if that works.
Drive stick or manual as we call it in England. I have 2 litre twin cam sports, does 40 miles to the gallon 0 -60 in 8 sec. Top speed of 150mph. THe auto version, does 28 miles to the gallon, 0-60 in 11 sec and top speed of 140mph.. AUTOS ARE A LOAD OF SHIT. THEY NOT CARS. Get a real car. In uk 2% of cars are auto. usually rich lazy men drive them
GAS as you call it in the uk IS $11 dollars a gallon in england, USA Has the cheapest gas in the world and u moaning its expensive. your gas is cheaper than its been in england for 30years. And most the rest of the world, seriously.Puttin acetone my car wont help. My car does 40 miles a gallon in manual(stick) get rid of AUTOS they drink drink drink, very very rare in UK, auto's = Lazy man's car in England.
@izzysmart But in the US it's almost $4.00, that's what matters here.
Kinda like saying...."All the other 2nd world countries do it, be like us so we can point out how our economy is better than yours and how you need to emulate us in order to be better"
With gas prices going up, that will give the post office an excuse to charge more for their postage now. So go get some forever stamps before they inflate the cost of postage, once again.
depending on the amount of acetone you put in the tank and the size of your tank the acetone will have little to no effect on any of the components at all so if you notice things running wierd back off of the amount you use in the tank and it should be fine. used to run puregrain alchohol in my TBI injected Chrvrolet truck and it never hurt it a bit E85 requires a flexfuel vehicle but it burns up faster why not get another Hydrogen kit Pete? or did that turn out to be bogus?
@daddytech Thanks for the comments.. HHO works.. I have not played with it since my last car and this one was really good on gas but I know whats coming down the bend with our gas prices.. I might do the HHO thing again soon.. Enjoy,
E3 spark plugs are suppose to burn fuel more completely. They have dyno engine test results in their adds that show increases in horsepower and fuel burning efficiency.
I wonder if this work on an engine that is carberateted?

I've tried adding acetone to my gasoline (in differing ratios) in the past and did not find any MPG improvements.

@crystalscan2002 using his method then it would be 22oz of acetone

step 1. go to OREILLYS not vatozone.

I have a 26g tank. so is 52oz the right amount?

paikmendez 9 months ago
but acetone is around the 20 dollar a gallon mark so is it really worth it?
ccmtor 10 months ago
@ccmtor Yea its worth it.....128oz/gal -> 16cents/oz if its $20 a gallon -> 2oz per gallon added -> 32cents/gallon added to price of gas, but:
gas price of $4/gal -> 400cents/gal
if it adds around 5 mpg
400cents/gal @ 25mpg -> 16 cents/mile
432cents/gal w/ acetone @ 30mpg -> 14.4 cents/mile
to drive 400miles without acetone $64.00, with acetone $57.60
So yea its worth it...thumbs up for math :)
wh33lz 10 months ago
Wow where do you live because gas prices in my area are much higher.
NorthStarOlds 10 months ago
@mixcatcom just a quick correction. the octane rating of a gasoline does not correlate to power. Putting a high octane fuel in a low compression engine will just cost more. I like your jingle, btw.
justtryharder 10 months ago

No. They didnt even use the correct gas to acetone ratio on it.

how much acetone in a 16 gal. tank?
xConway22x 11 months ago
@xConway22x 32 maybe?
farmer864 11 months ago
it can't raise the octane, octane levels refer to the percent of the fuel that is fully saturated 8 carbon hydrocarbon chains. Acetone will not act as a catalyst to convert other portions of fuel to octane. however I could see it increasing the efficiency of the combustion process.
Samacnab 11 months ago
this guy is lying look at the dry run the the mph is 40. and with acetone its 50 but the revs stay the sameindicating the car is in a higher gear such as 3rd in the dry run.
15DAVIDYOUNG 11 months ago
are you sure 40 oz per 20 gal tank is safe??? i seen other vids saying 2 oz per 10 gal
dubphat 11 months ago

Search google for more information.
kwokwing 1 year ago
umm...take a glass jar and fill it with acetone then put a rubber o-ring in it, it will destroy the rubber. mythbusters didn't show that fact. use acetone, and your fuel line will be "busted"
tester083 1 year ago
@tester083 But you aren't FILLING your gas tank with acetone, you are only adding a tiny amount to a LARGE amount of gasoline, thus NOTHING will happen to the fuel line. I've used acetone in all of my cars fuel for over 10 years, even in the older models, and guess what? No disssolved fuel line and no disolved fuel system components either. Hasn't caused ANY damage and keeps things running really smooth with a bit of MPG improvement.
wppdoes 10 months ago
@wppdoes ok, i see your point. i might try this myself. about how many ounces of acetone per gallon of gas are you using?

I'm not saying that you could or couldn't, but if it were possible they wouldn't show you how on T.V.

Guitarguy0088 8 months ago
@mixcatcom Isn't 40 oz. WAY too much? I thought it was supposed to be 1-2 ounces per 10 gallons.
banstaman 6 months ago
@lance627
Hope this helps
jonny246800 11 months ago
@lance627 From what im reading 2.5 to 3 oz per 10 gallons is the recommended amounts.
the1bigace 8 months ago
@the1bigace honestly zero would be a lot better than that amount. It doesn't increase mileage that much and can cause engine problems when burning it constantly.

I used to live in England for about three years, and my ex hubby and I used to get around on a motorbike for places that were not close by otherwise we walked, but we didn't have kids either. In the US things are spaced much further away if you don't live in a city, and make using a bike a lot more difficult.
Thanks for the post though Mix Cat. I wish there was something people with diesel vehicles could do. I can't get the bio diesel they talk about.
Mojosfire 1 year ago
at 50 mph most cars and half ton truck will average 30-40 mpg. a better example would be at 70 -75 mph. at 50 most vehicels are at a low rpm and low wind resistance . a vehicle that gets 15-20 mpg at 70- 75 would get 30-35 mpg at 50-55. thats why in the 80s they lowered the speed limit to 55. i like the asetone idea , im going to try that

great info. Any suggestions for diesel? I have a 2004 F250 super duty that really gets shity mileage according to the on board comp. It usually displays about 12.5 mtg average. I know the newer modles are getting upwards of 23 miles to the gallon.

Cannibalriot 1 year ago
I thought I heard you say you mix 2 ounces per gallon. All the internet buzz recommends 2 ounces per 10 gallons. Also there are sites where users have posted their results with acetone mixes and it seems that too little or too much can negatively effect the mpgs.
Maybe you might try adding 2 ounces to your next fill up and track the mpg to see if that works.

depending on the amount of acetone you put in the tank and the size of your tank the acetone will have little to no effect on any of the components at all so if you notice things running wierd back off of the amount you use in the tank and it should be fine. used to run puregrain alchohol in my TBI injected Chrvrolet truck and it never hurt it a bit E85 requires a flexfuel vehicle but it burns up faster why not get another Hydrogen kit Pete? or did that turn out to be bogus?
