I can't make any sense of the production here. What on earth is she doing in a big clock! The story is good enough to stand on its own, it doesn't need 'clever symbolism' like this to make it work. It's just different for the sake of being different. Netrebko's voice is OK until you hear others - I have Teresa Stratos on CD and Angelina Gheorghiu on DVD and both show Netrebko up as being a little harsh. But I agree with those who have said the comments on screen are naff.
@Hergesell156 I agree. Unless you are a professional singing coach, how can you presume to criticise her breath control when a video cannot show exactly what she's doing anyway!
The video was better without the damn pop-ups added by the uploader. So annoying... God forbid I'd actually try to draw my own conclusions as an educated, trained classical singer without The Almighty Poster's Assistance.
@brookederosa I saw a video where they said that the clock was showing how long she had left to live. Sometimes it went faster, sometimes it went slower. She does die at the end. I hope that helps.
what's interesting is yes, her technique is flawed compared to the other sopranos in this, yes her coloratura isn't as clean, but I feel her darker, heavier timbre gives a better overall performance in some way. I guess I like Violetta to have some weight to her voice, and she's really getting into every word, every note, and every line of music to put some feeling into it
So much better than that Lucia she attempted........
do you only enjoy food, drink, clothes etc, if you yourself make? This is not the point. The point is she is not an excellent singer. She only sings OK, the rest is mystification and money power...
secondo me è meglio la sua voce più profonda (e secondo me più espressiva) piuttosto di quella delle varie soprano che sembrano aquile urlatrici... ma sono opinioni...
She is better on the cabaletta. Her voice is a little too dark for this role, in my opinion, although it is lovely and velvety. She oversings a little and overopensher mouth, which affects her placement. She also has breath issues, and ends up 'stacking' as you say, and her accuracy suffers. The E-flat is unecessary in this aria, as it was not written with the E-flat. Watch the youtube of Mirella Freni singing Sempre Libera. Gorgeous and no E-Flat.
i am a big abstract ,death metal ,black metal and experimental industrial music fan ,BUT listen to this Goddess, spur my mind into a smashing lovely trip in all the senses!!!!i wish that my future wife looks like Ana Netrebko ...and i shall rest in peace...for ever. You are an Angel Netrebko.
@daustin747 I think the person who posted was really honest about the performance and mostly praised it. No singer is flawless least of all Mmme Netrebko and the annotations if nothing else help some truly critical people see some really great things in this performance.
Lovely singing,, and she has no strength for the E flat because she has been singing too big, during the rest of it. frankly, while I think she is very good for the role, she needs to make less of the cabaletta.. some of it needs to be thrown off, and not sung so big.. She is not going to impress anyone with the size of her voice, but vocally she is great in this role, and has real authenticity in the character.

What Netrebko lacks in accuracy she makes up with the stunning beauty of her voice and with dramatic conviction. She IS Violetta. She leaves you feeling like you have experienced a multi-faceted character.
O and Maria Ewing, singing in both mezzo and soprano roles, always got into character. She is a convincing "male" Cherubino in Figaro, a tempestuous Elvira in Don Giovanni & a demonic Salome. Look at Ewing's Salome performances. She was acting with her voice. She was also willing to get nude at the end of the Dance. That's an actress right there - who also sings opera
@MastersoftheOpera, I see you have a plenty of hobbies.BTW have you ever seen her live performance? I also like a backgrouns like in XIX century and so what? It actually depends on production and produsers point of view.Buy tickets for her closest performance and be happy! La Bohème, MET, New York 17. Mar 2010 Anna Netrebko (Mimi), Piotr Beczala (Rodolfo)
@MastersoftheOpera I agree with spqrmor that you should just buy tickets for Netrebko's performance in a different kind of production and be happy! Still no need to use strong words here and confuse her singing with production! She is amazing anywhere! But I'm not buying this nonsense that AN is a bad actress, and e.g. Caballe is better and more convincing in acting! She can be a good singer and Pavarotti as well, but obese people can't be convincing as actors in roles of young sexy heroes! LOL
@MastersoftheOpera Caballe as a convincing Salome! Getting into the character! Are you serious? You know so much what Violetta Valerie should be, what dresses to wear and at what age and kind of home she should live to be convincing to you! You don't like Netrebko's couch, but you claim that this ton of meat ( I don't care if an opera singer is not very slender!) Caballe is convincing as Salome?! A young, seductive, slender woman! LOL Are you blind? Somewhat woman is a "male" Cherubino too?!!!
It is awful minimalist garbage. It's from a Salzburg production from 2006, totally un-Verdi. Violetta's supposed to live in luxury in Paris in the 19th century. All she has here is a couch & a clock. Netrebko has great technique but thats it. She's like Sutherland who only stands there & sing and can't act or bring the character to life. Netrebko & today's sopranos are all the same. If only Callas had lived to teach singers in the 80's & 90's & her pupil also taught singers of the 2000's!
Yeah, it's a modern production. I would like to see something classical too. But you know, operatic singers totally depend on those who are in charge for such productions, and such producers try to show off, to become "original", etc. If artists wait for the "right" production they can wait for too long, while somebody else will sing and shine. So, the main thing in opera is SINGING! If it's appealing you should learn to "see" and "hear" "through" the production and not yell it's un-Verdi!
No thank you. If I wanted to "see" & "hear" through a non-traditional opera production, I can do that from home using my imagination. Why should I waste my money on a production that looks nothing like opera should & hear singers who can't act their roles ? I hate to have to "imagine" Violetta's luxury home. I want to see it on stage. And that slutty red dress is awful. I like Violetta's 1850s ball gowns.
MastersoftheOpera, this production is for opera lovers who can appreciate great voices, sophisticated production and amazing acting. This performance is regarded as best Travolta in history by critics and public. People who are deaf and who are lacking the sense of beauty may not watch this. Understand, moron????
I don't hate Netrebko. She has great technique. She's also gorgeous. But it takes more than this to be a great opera singer. It takes passion & great acting so that she LIVES the role she's singing- not just sings it. Netrebko can't act. She just sings great. Many opera singers of today accept this & it's enough that she sings great. It's not enough for me. Netrebko sacrifices drama for the sake of beautiful singing. Notice however that I do say she sings beautifully. She really does.
Tastes differ, of course. Nobody convinces you to "waste" your money. Actually, true opera lovers are dying to hear AN live and see in ANY production, but the house is always full and they can't get tickets! So, if you want to stay at home, nobody will notice it:-) Don't waste your money and use your imagination from home. Yeah, if you are such an expert in historical background you can remember Dimas's book "La dame aux camelias". Do you read books? OK, you don't like it but why "slutty" dress?
Of course I know that Traviata is based on the Dumas book & play, a play attended by Verdi himself. I do study opera & it's history/composer's lives. She's based on the real life courtesan Duplessis. She is Marguerite Gautier in the Greta Garbo 1930's classic Camille. This production does not evoke the 19th century. I think her modern red dress looks like a 2005 party dress, which is slutty for me.
OK, you know about the book and all this story. Yes, of course, it's the 19th century. You have the right not to like the production and express your opinion that it would be better in a more tradional production. I would like it too. But why use such strong words as "slutty red dress", "minimalist garbage"?! Why always compare her with Callas?! Do you know any other names?! Times change and not only we, but also opera changes with them! Netrebko can't act?! What is your example of great acting?
Of course I know other names besides Callas. Moffo got into character well, as did Sills & Vaness. Caballe could sometimes get into character - like her Salome, as well as Bumbry (Carmen), Verrett (Norma), Scotto (Butterfly) & Mirella Freni (Manon Lescaut). There are some singers who are willing to make unattractive sounds or non-musical expressions in order to bring out the drama of a scene. Sills did that a lot. I believe that opera is not just beautiful singing. It's also drama.
@temperanceluv81 Yes, it sets her apart from mediocrity around and it makes her brillant megastar of modern opera.I noticed that many falks from US wanna sound like critics and you're not exclusion.BTW do you speak Russian to judge?
temperanceluv81 Can you elaborate please what you mean by that the colour of her voice is very Russian? Is it supposed to be good or bad for you? I fully agree with spqrmor that it sets her apart from mediocrity of many European singers nowadays and really makes her a brilliant star of modern opera! Don't you think that voice isn't an abstract, isolated stuff, and nationality should give some specific colour to it? Her voice is just recognizable unlike many average similar ones! It's wonderful!
Traviata - Ms. Netrebko displayed ample power, coloratura bravura with a marvelous tone Having recently heard Natalie Dessay sing Sempre Libera at the Met Gala, one was impressed by the legato nature of Netrebko's portray in contrast to Dessay's intentional staccato, fragmented phrasing interpretation. Having also seen photos of Fleming in her current Violetta at the ROH, one can only marvel at Netrebko's resilience, endurance and commitment to bel canto opera.

She is absolutely fabulous and I adore her! She is such a great singer and she is thoroughly AWESOME! Thanks for posting this! <3 Anna! Keep singing such beautiful music!
Indeed, good voice and acting (but I suspect that her beauty makes a good part of the job in impressing some people :)) ! However, her technique is not very good and that's why she needs always to keep in the "safe zone" (her very good medium register). That makes her rendition, although pleasant, to feel too rigid, too concerned to be "correct" (schoolwork style) and, consequently, unable to develop most intense emotions.
So: just good, but still far from the best renditions of this opera!

Netrebko isn't as stable and sometimes with some operas doesn't interpret well in my opinion. God, she screwed up as Lucia di Lammermoor in the met last januari. She wasn't a fragile girl but was posing like a strong diva. Her dark voice just didn't fit, she stinks at more difficult coloratura (always has)...and the high notes were awful (maybe due to her pregnancy and voice lowering?).
However, her voice in itself is very pleasant to listen to. She should choose her repertoire better.
Laroling, do you know that Annas Lucia was regarded as "GREAT PERFORMANCES AT THE MET" (the one that was aired around the world Feb 2009) and was shown many times on public TV all across the US? There was one performance of Lucia when Anna was not so perfect and people like you keep reminding about that. Sopranos are humans and we must judge them by the BEST performances. I am sure that all of the greatest opera singers had their bad days too.
"Anna Netrebko has been hailed as the centurys most spectacular voice. With extraordinary beauty to match her natural-born talent...she's commanding the spotlight on red carpets around the world...favoring glamorous dresses by Escada and Marc Jacobs that praise her curvy, feminine physique. Brava!"
Like Alagna's recent triumph in Carmen at Covent Garden and Mattila's Tosca at the Met, all of these will receive the same top fee: 15,000 Euros. This fee, 15,000 Euros per evening, net, is reserved for the great voices.
she needs to fix her technique. that middle C is nonexistent. her breath is shallow and the tone is way under supported. her voice could be brighter firmer and the diction better if she fixed that. plus shed be able to really show us those high notes.
definitely one of the best renditions of this role that i've seen. she doesn't have the coloratura, but she definitely has the lyricism. thanks for the upload!
(p.s. is there a way to take off the comments though? i want to show this to a friend who'd find them very patronising...)
I love your captions! I'm a big Netrebko appreciator and I can see you have similar taste! People really need to start cutting poor singers some slack. It's a super-human feat to perform something perfectly and no one is capable of a perfect performance. I appreciate her acting so much. Not singing the Eb or the optional high C may have been the director's choice and not Anna's anyways.
this is finee, she has a really good sounding voice and her beauty makes up for whatever her technical imperfections are, at least you don't have to close your eyes during her role, unlike with other sopranos who were less fortunate in the looks department....
Yes, She's beautiful and she sounds nice but I don't think we should overlook the fact that her performance wasn't all it had to be just because she's pretty. No one should pass somenone as good just because they fortunate in the looks department. That may work in "actresses" but not in opera singers (or anyone). If I were an opera singer and my face weren't all that but my voice were perfect I would retire immediately if beauty over talent is what people are lookin for today.
but she is good even without her looks, her looks are a big bonus tho, i think her looks suit violetta very well, she brings out physical realism that nicely complements the music, its much easier to suspend your disbelief while watching her on stage as opposed to someone with a more stereotypical appearance of an opera singer, and i agree with you looks should defiantly not overshadow talent, but its nice to have a little of both once in a while:P
'..and where is a top E-Flat' one of you ask. Haven't got a clue chum but the rest of her alphabet seems pretty OK to me..! Ha ha ha! Must admit I don't know much about opera - but I do love to listen to it, and The Lady Netrebko certainly makes my heart go boom diddy boom with her wonderful voice, beauty, poise, style, artistry - what IS there to criticise?!! She might not confirm to someone's way of doing things - but does that really matter? If the sun shines, well, isn't that good enough?
Besides, as someone said here if sopranos will sing evry high note they will lose their voice, just think about how often they have to perform nowadays.
Sopranos are humans and ALL of them sometimes make mistakes, we need to take into account all of Anna's work. Many of her performances are really wonderful and what a voice!
I think that the GREAT ART is just the MUSIC. E-flat is the major point of this aria, without it the all aria is collapsed, and a good musician will die, but take it, therefore - you should excuse me! - I can't enjoy such art.
I see your feelings, and I'm completely not glad of Anna's mistake, but composers need a respect and if the musicians will throw out from the score all difficult notes, what will be with a music?
Some people here are obsessed with immature stupid rigid rules and ridiculous nitpicking. Since Anna is so famous they have occupied Netrebko's pages with their hateful insulting comments. Thus this forum has became a place for malicious bashing of a great talent. I find Anna's interpretations and her approach to singing to be very refined and amazingly beautiful. People who impose stupid rigid rules rob themselves of her great art.
Mr. Know-it-all's annoying little bubble remarks ruin the video. "Artistry cannot be taught but take note sopranos." Freakin retarded opera bigots. Just enjoy the opera for crying out loud!!!
Traviata - Ms. Netrebko displayed ample power, coloratura bravura with a marvelous tone. Having recently heard Natalie Dessay sing Sempre Libera at the Met Gala, one was impressed by the legato nature of Netrebko's portray in contrast to Dessay's intentional staccato, fragmented phrasing interpretation. Having also seen photos of Fleming in her current Violetta at the ROH, one can only marvel at Netrebko's resilience, endurance and commitment to bel canto opera. She is made for this type of role
even CALLAS a nd SUTHERLAND had imperfections..i am a fan of the three..netrebko shows artistry almost like callas' and has a bit of sutherlands voice(except the coloratura part)..this is only my opinion..but what the hell..everyone has the right to say what they think.
la traviata ne se joue pas sur une note, faut admirer l'ensemble de la performence, a moins d'aller a l'opera juste pour entendre une note....c'est payer chere la note.
And I think that defending a woman a great soprano from psychos and insulters is a very noble thing to do even (and moreover) if she does not know who defends her. This is not about personal feelings (well in eradesso and thugmans case it is most probably very personal) it is about dignity and respect for a hard working talent and a wonderful person. So, thank you, unknown utubers for defending Anna - it is a very noble thing to do!
okay I have listened to a plethora of renditions and interpretations of these two arias and though she may lack some agility and breath control her high notes are still great; great tone and great ring. Also, with the "Ah Forse lui" hers is one of the best if not the best interpretation ever...her phrasing is so beautiful and brings out the beauty of the melody so well. She brings the character to life. I believe that she is Violetta and that is an integral part in Opera today imo.
Also, there are some Sopranos who sort of rush through this piece because they are more concerned with what comes after. I think this is a mistake. Both arias should be performed with energy and commitment so that the contrast between the two is more stark and Violetta's dilemma is more three dimensional. She has the right overall approach. The other version I quite liked was Edita Gruberova's (amazing) but her "Ah Forse Lui" was taken off of youtube :(
As much as many sopranos can be talented it happens rare to find in the same person talent as a singer,a beautiful voice,a very good accent,a huge beauty and acting with the vivacity she does. There is no other Violeta that have make me feel about traviata the way Anna does.Neither when i have seen great singer performing live (i have seen traviata 22 times live by the way :D)
alrudina, I agree with you completely but the the problem is that Dessay's fans (or relatives?) have launched a dirty compain of hate, they bash Anna all over utube. At the same time if you try to go to Dessay's or Domrau's page and post a note they prevent you from leaving one. It is obvious that something is going on. Does anyone know what can be done about that?
JuillHope17 , I know but I am preventing immatures from being influenced by some psychos like Thugman30 who has such a hatred of Anna that it makes me feel noxious. He would not leave her alone with his insulting and abhorrent comments. I just post comments so people understand who he is - the real scum of the earth. Take care
You know I used to not like Netrebko but I've recently grown quite fond of everything but her lyric coloratura work. Her heavy stuff, with sustained legato singing is breathtaking but her voice seems too big for this type of role. It reminded me of when leontyne price tried to sing this and though amazing sounded slightly uncomfortable singing the highest notes and had problems with the fast runs.
Netrebko haters are all over utube bashing her, appearing like rats from a sewer. They based her Traviata and she has received a Classical Brit Award for it (one of many). They were predicting her failure in Lucia but in fact she had a tremendous success. They must be devastated now especially since at Damraus performances there were 40% of empty seats. Now they are trying to explain to the world that the mainstream and Annas pretty face are the factors. Nice try idiots!

Mar 2010 Anna Netrebko (Mimi), Piotr Beczala (Rodolfo)
spqrmor 1 year ago
@MastersoftheOpera I agree with spqrmor that you should just buy tickets for Netrebko's performance in a different kind of production and be happy! Still no need to use strong words here and confuse her singing with production! She is amazing anywhere! But I'm not buying this nonsense that AN is a bad actress, and e.g. Caballe is better and more convincing in acting! She can be a good singer and Pavarotti as well, but obese people can't be convincing as actors in roles of young sexy heroes! LOL
serenaluce 1 year ago
@MastersoftheOpera Caballe as a convincing Salome! Getting into the character! Are you serious? You know so much what Violetta Valerie should be, what dresses to wear and at what age and kind of home she should live to be convincing to you! You don't like Netrebko's couch, but you claim that this ton of meat ( I don't care if an opera singer is not very slender!) Caballe is convincing as Salome?! A young, seductive, slender woman! LOL Are you blind? Somewhat woman is a "male" Cherubino too?!!!
serenaluce 1 year ago
what is this background? and style?
disgusting
miki1900 1 year ago
It is awful minimalist garbage. It's from a Salzburg production from 2006, totally un-Verdi. Violetta's supposed to live in luxury in Paris in the 19th century. All she has here is a couch & a clock. Netrebko has great technique but thats it. She's like Sutherland who only stands there & sing and can't act or bring the character to life. Netrebko & today's sopranos are all the same. If only Callas had lived to teach singers in the 80's & 90's & her pupil also taught singers of the 2000's!
MastersoftheOpera 1 year ago
Yeah, it's a modern production. I would like to see something classical too. But you know, operatic singers totally depend on those who are in charge for such productions, and such producers try to show off, to become "original", etc. If artists wait for the "right" production they can wait for too long, while somebody else will sing and shine. So, the main thing in opera is SINGING! If it's appealing you should learn to "see" and "hear" "through" the production and not yell it's un-Verdi!
serenaluce 1 year ago
No thank you. If I wanted to "see" & "hear" through a non-traditional opera production, I can do that from home using my imagination. Why should I waste my money on a production that looks nothing like opera should & hear singers who can't act their roles ? I hate to have to "imagine" Violetta's luxury home. I want to see it on stage. And that slutty red dress is awful. I like Violetta's 1850s ball gowns.
MastersoftheOpera 1 year ago
MastersoftheOpera, this production is for opera lovers who can appreciate great voices, sophisticated production and amazing acting. This performance is regarded as best Travolta in history by critics and public. People who are deaf and who are lacking the sense of beauty may not watch this. Understand, moron????
maa10able 1 year ago
I don't hate Netrebko. She has great technique. She's also gorgeous. But it takes more than this to be a great opera singer. It takes passion & great acting so that she LIVES the role she's singing- not just sings it. Netrebko can't act. She just sings great. Many opera singers of today accept this & it's enough that she sings great. It's not enough for me. Netrebko sacrifices drama for the sake of beautiful singing. Notice however that I do say she sings beautifully. She really does.
MastersoftheOpera 1 year ago
Tastes differ, of course. Nobody convinces you to "waste" your money. Actually, true opera lovers are dying to hear AN live and see in ANY production, but the house is always full and they can't get tickets! So, if you want to stay at home, nobody will notice it:-) Don't waste your money and use your imagination from home. Yeah, if you are such an expert in historical background you can remember Dimas's book "La dame aux camelias". Do you read books? OK, you don't like it but why "slutty" dress?
serenaluce 1 year ago
Of course I know that Traviata is based on the Dumas book & play, a play attended by Verdi himself. I do study opera & it's history/composer's lives. She's based on the real life courtesan Duplessis. She is Marguerite Gautier in the Greta Garbo 1930's classic Camille. This production does not evoke the 19th century. I think her modern red dress looks like a 2005 party dress, which is slutty for me.
MastersoftheOpera 1 year ago
OK, you know about the book and all this story. Yes, of course, it's the 19th century. You have the right not to like the production and express your opinion that it would be better in a more tradional production. I would like it too. But why use such strong words as "slutty red dress", "minimalist garbage"?! Why always compare her with Callas?! Do you know any other names?! Times change and not only we, but also opera changes with them! Netrebko can't act?! What is your example of great acting?
serenaluce 1 year ago
Of course I know other names besides Callas. Moffo got into character well, as did Sills & Vaness. Caballe could sometimes get into character - like her Salome, as well as Bumbry (Carmen), Verrett (Norma), Scotto (Butterfly) & Mirella Freni (Manon Lescaut). There are some singers who are willing to make unattractive sounds or non-musical expressions in order to bring out the drama of a scene. Sills did that a lot. I believe that opera is not just beautiful singing. It's also drama.

I think the color over voice is very russian.
It sets her apart from other European singers
temperanceluv81 1 year ago
@temperanceluv81 Yes, it sets her apart from mediocrity around and it makes her brillant megastar of modern opera.I noticed that many falks from US wanna sound like critics and you're not exclusion.BTW do you speak Russian to judge?
spqrmor 1 year ago
temperanceluv81 Can you elaborate please what you mean by that the colour of her voice is very Russian? Is it supposed to be good or bad for you? I fully agree with spqrmor that it sets her apart from mediocrity of many European singers nowadays and really makes her a brilliant star of modern opera! Don't you think that voice isn't an abstract, isolated stuff, and nationality should give some specific colour to it? Her voice is just recognizable unlike many average similar ones! It's wonderful!
serenaluce 1 year ago
@serenaluce I mean that in Russia the "Lower" and "darker" timbres within the voice are explored more in their voice training.
Also, her Italian sounds darker...
There is a noticeable difference between her pronunciation of Italian and that of say Cecelia Bartoli,
but I mean anyone who is not a native speaker of Italian might encounter the issue of sounding "foreign"
(as obvious as that might sound)
:)

I HATE NETREBKO
Aperlaeh 2 years ago
Netrebko isn't as stable and sometimes with some operas doesn't interpret well in my opinion. God, she screwed up as Lucia di Lammermoor in the met last januari. She wasn't a fragile girl but was posing like a strong diva. Her dark voice just didn't fit, she stinks at more difficult coloratura (always has)...and the high notes were awful (maybe due to her pregnancy and voice lowering?).
However, her voice in itself is very pleasant to listen to. She should choose her repertoire better.
Laroling 2 years ago
Laroling, do you know that Annas Lucia was regarded as "GREAT PERFORMANCES AT THE MET" (the one that was aired around the world Feb 2009) and was shown many times on public TV all across the US? There was one performance of Lucia when Anna was not so perfect and people like you keep reminding about that. Sopranos are humans and we must judge them by the BEST performances. I am sure that all of the greatest opera singers had their bad days too.

ishhf 2 years ago

I love your captions! I'm a big Netrebko appreciator and I can see you have similar taste! People really need to start cutting poor singers some slack. It's a super-human feat to perform something perfectly and no one is capable of a perfect performance. I appreciate her acting so much. Not singing the Eb or the optional high C may have been the director's choice and not Anna's anyways.
Lizzyjean5 2 years ago
this is finee, she has a really good sounding voice and her beauty makes up for whatever her technical imperfections are, at least you don't have to close your eyes during her role, unlike with other sopranos who were less fortunate in the looks department....
k545 2 years ago
Yes, She's beautiful and she sounds nice but I don't think we should overlook the fact that her performance wasn't all it had to be just because she's pretty. No one should pass somenone as good just because they fortunate in the looks department. That may work in "actresses" but not in opera singers (or anyone). If I were an opera singer and my face weren't all that but my voice were perfect I would retire immediately if beauty over talent is what people are lookin for today.
bery79 2 years ago
but she is good even without her looks, her looks are a big bonus tho, i think her looks suit violetta very well, she brings out physical realism that nicely complements the music, its much easier to suspend your disbelief while watching her on stage as opposed to someone with a more stereotypical appearance of an opera singer, and i agree with you looks should defiantly not overshadow talent, but its nice to have a little of both once in a while:P

If the sun shines, well, isn't that good enough?
davidwoollacott 2 years ago
Besides, as someone said here if sopranos will sing evry high note they will lose their voice, just think about how often they have to perform nowadays.
MrGverdi 2 years ago
Sopranos are humans and ALL of them sometimes make mistakes, we need to take into account all of Anna's work. Many of her performances are really wonderful and what a voice!
MrGverdi 2 years ago
I think that the GREAT ART is just the MUSIC. E-flat is the major point of this aria, without it the all aria is collapsed, and a good musician will die, but take it, therefore - you should excuse me! - I can't enjoy such art.
DjeddaPixie 2 years ago

Does anyone know what can be done about that?

it's youtube. opera fans on youtube are for the most part immature. just forget about them.

Well said.

Still, she's amazing. She makes me wish I had continued my lessons, (not that I would ever sing like her...)
