You can forget about that Green economy now that Obama sold us out to his special interest pals. When you're going to transition to clean energy you don't build new nuclear power-plants all around the country that'll be on-line for 70 years. I'd bet my life Bloom energy get killed dead or outlawed. We're going to get stuck with cheap battery technology for cars, and electrical energy that's mainly coal and nuclear, leaving it in the hands of the same shit-bags as now.
@HemiHead66 Obama has made me pretty sad with some of his decisions. I guess I'm going to have to do this on my own. I have more videos on my page. I took the gas engine out of an old truck and replaced it with an electric motor.
I guess we can make NiMH batteries now without worrying about patents. NiMH may be old technology but it works for the hundreds of RAV4-EV that are currently driving around. RAV4-EV would probably be more affordable than Tesla. We don't need a bunch of Tesla's we need affordable electric cars.
Thanks for the video. The nature of privilege and power is self preservation and since they( oil interests) have so much concentrated power they wont go quietly. It's like the candle makers lobby in France in the 17th century, they where able to hold back modern glass making for windows for more than seventy years since it was a disruptive technology that ultimately made them loose their great power and influence.
Though Doug Korthof's argument is even more persuasive, IMO - BEV, NO gas, with solar power paid for by gas saving. Wow! Plus one sixth the cost per mile in electricity than gas.
Senator Obama gets it too. Stunning to hear him describe it completely and accurately. Interviewed by Rachel Maddow, on Huffpo, pt1 @7.50
wow alot of dumbasses commenting. . . proves that they really don't understand how fucked up people are when they are too concerned about making themselves rich and making others dependant on fuel. . . just like the ciggarette manufactuerers lol (Spelling sucks!) I enjoy the beard btw
My 2000 Ford Ranger EV NiMH uses the batteries in question. Zero issues...and I even had a terrible incident of driving it into a tree to avoid an 82 year old who "missed" a stop sign.
Thank you for the comment. When you say "the batteries in question" do you mean the batteries whose patent is currently collecting dust in Exxon Mobil's file cabinet?
Until there is an earth-shattering, major breakthrough in power storage, wind power is unworkable for grid power generation. It's simply too intermittent, unpredictible, and almost always to far away for base generation and not applicable for spinning generation to meet periods of peak demand. We could erect wind turbines until they block out the sun and never be able to risk tearing down a single coal, oil, or nuclear power plant. But be that as it may, what patents are you referring to?
The batteries made by ovonics that power the Toyota Rav-4 EV. If you own a Toyota Rav-4 EV and for some the reason the battery stops working you can't buy the replacement battery because Chevron owns the patent for it and made the battery manufacturer stop making it.
Are you speaking of the NiHM? I know there's an open patent dispute on that particular battery. But it's the Lithium nano-wire that leads the field right now. It pretty much leaves everything else in the dust-and yet it's still far from competing with the energy density of an IC engine.
If you can afford two cars then power to you, my brother. This is America. I'm looking at ordering a Wildfire-3 wheels, 4 seats, 70mpg, and $7000 brand new-and it will cover 100% of my needs. See you on the road.
Focusing on the issue of owning two cars is a distraction. People were willing to buy these cars and they stopped making them. They didn't stop selling them because people weren't buying them, they stopped selling them because the oil companies threatened them.
Sorry if I came across as sarcastic-I was aiming at more of a gentle chide. I've watched most of your other vids and you just don't strike me as the conspiratorial type. Sorry if I ruffled any feathers. But with that said, I don't buy the notion of an evil cabal working behind the scenes to surpress the electric car. That's just silly. The current battery technology revolution is in its infancy. It may pan out...or it may reach an impasse. But it's just not ready for the mass market right now.
Okay, maybe it wasn't a cabal making threats, but there were different kinds of pressure being applied to decision makers. Members of California Air Resources Board, GM and Exxon Mobil executives have relationships that violate conflict of interest laws/ethical standards. Intentional technological stagnation is real. There are companies buying patents and sitting on them. If you want to know more about the evil things that can be done with patents, just look at monsanto's relationship with India
The suppression is real. It's called business. Whether it is evil or not is a judgement. Killing 2.2 million people is certainly Cruel. Good and Evil is a longer discussion.
OK, it looks like I've wandered into the spoiled produce section of the funny farm. Good day, and I hope Santa brings you all new tinfoil hats this Xmas.

Thank you for commenting. I would love to have an electric car. I need the auto-manufacturers to make them so rich people can buy them, get sick of the color, buy a new one, and sell the old one to me at a better price.

NiMH is kinda old technology. Pulling their patents would not help EV use to much. Super Capacitor technologies looks more promising to me.
Thanks

Ironic that the people who own the technology that could compete with oil companies are the oil companies.

Yeah, what the hell, look at Doug Korthoff's stuff.

The batteries are here, we don't need research; there are still 1981 EVs still on the road.

Who cares if it's not as good as an IC engine. I've seen videos of the Rav-4 EV in action and I think it would meet my needs 99% of the time.

what part of what he's saying is "tinfoil hat" worthy?

ER, none. Either he hasn't done the reading, didn't understand it, is being deliberately obtuse or is spreading FUD. Or all of the above.

come on, you have to agree that when companies buy up patents and intentionally hide them, somebody should step in and force them to give it up.
