Here is my prediction for the United States: The large white population will begin to mix with the Latino (mostly mestizo) population to create a majority mixed race castizo population of 3/4 white/1/4 Native American. There will be minority populations of whites, blacks, Asians, Arabs and mulattoes. There will be a minority of multiracial people also. Some whites will white flight out of the U.S., but some will remain. Some blacks will remain, some will be mixed into the castizos.

The USA government started it with "Hispanic" because it was difficult to racial classify people from Latin America. I don´t get this Latino thing. Latino only means Latin. Latin countries are the countries in Europe that belonged to the former Roman Empire. Latin America are the countries that were colonized by those countries. An Italian is Latino, a Frechman is Latino. I think the proper term to what you want to define is Latin American. And Latin Americans are very different from each other. Argentina, Brazil and Mexico are totally different.

Here is my prediction for the United States: The large white population will begin to mix with the Latino (mostly mestizo) population to create a majority mixed race castizo population of 3/4 white/1/4 Native American. There will be minority populations of whites, blacks, Asians, Arabs and mulattoes. There will be a minority of multiracial people also. Some whites will white flight out of the U.S., but some will remain. Some blacks will remain, some will be mixed into the castizos.

I am native Chamorro (Guam/Marianas Islander). I come from over 400 years of Spanish colonial history and heritage. My people have practiced Latino-Catholicism for just as long. My ancestry includes native Chamorro, Spanish, Mexican, English, and some Chinese too. Spanish was spoken on the island until the arrival of the USA and it was eliminated. Over 50% of the native Chamorro vocabulary is derived from Spanish. Am I Latino? Some have described my culture as an Oceanic-Latino culture. I agree.

Latin America = the part of the americas which was conquered from the latin-speaking european countries. Latin speaking means that they have language that descent from the ancient Latin language (the roman empire)
Those european countries were basically Spain and Portugal.
So latino is not a race, an ethnicity, its only an origin, a root. Latinos can be black, white or whatever

@tonyramos12316 I saw your video, most of it is correct, but a few things were off. As far as saying "Black vs. Mexican" it's like saying Black vs. American. People need to know that Mexican is not a race, but a nationality/ethnicity. Just like American. That brown race of most "Mexicans" is called Mestizo (half Amerindian/half White). Mestizo should be added to the racial categories in the U.S. now that Mexicans are such a large group in the U.S., being that most Mexicans are Mestizo.

The French came up with that name for Political reasons, and to this day it retains that meaning, purely Geographical and Political. Unfortunately, there seems to be some people in the United States who believe its inception came about for the purpose of defining some "cultural" entity or something, which is utterly ridiculous.

It was named "Latin America", because the French wanted in the colonization game in the Americas, and because the Spanish and Portuguese were already there and were part of the Latin European ethnicity just like the French, the French named it Latin America to make it seem that it was ok for them being fellow Latins to enter in.

Both George Lopez and Eva Longoria took DNA tests, and both were predominantly White. George was 55% and Eva was 70%. Jessica Alba did too. She was 87% White and only had 13% Amerindian. So that means her dad who is full Mexican was 26% Amerindian and 74% European.

@IslenoGutierrez I believe '1coolsuperguy' is talking about Phenotypes, not Genotypes, since 'race' is ultimately defined by Phenotypes (and the specific society in which they are defined). Some Mestizos can have up to 90% European Genotypes and still have strong Indigenous physical traits that overpower their Caucasian traits. That's the crazy thing about Biology, you can never really predict Phenotype solely from Genotype.

@favm360 Well, it's not so much about the history (you can read about that anywhere), the main problem is that each country over there has a "mentality", a "way of thinking" that the people have which is part of that particular country's culture....and they're nothing like the mentality and culture of the USA. Anyone raised in the USA is NEVER completely surrounded and overwhelmingly exposed to their immigrant parents' mentality and culture (at school everyday, at work, on the street, etc).

In the USA the terms "Hispanic" and "Latino" are used mainly to refer to Mestizos. If you're white and you tell Americans you're Hispanic, they will laugh at you in disbelief and will ask you to prove it. Thank you. I try to tell people that Latino and Hispanic are not races but rather ethnicities. They just understand sometimes. Race is based on biology and ethnicity is based on culture. The USA government started it with "Hispanic" because it was difficult to racial classify people from Latin America. On forms now is says, "Hispanic or Latino - person of Cuban, Mexican, Puerto Rican, South or Central American, or other Spanish culture or origin regardless of race." Weird.

@auctionguy5 Well it wasn't so hard as back in the day the United States use to separate the white latin americans or that were mostly white and the Ones who were black latin americans. That was in the military.
In the major leagues some cubans were able to play because they were white, while the black cubans and other black "latin" americans had to play in the negro leagues.
So the United States use to recognized that their was more then one race in latin america. But now they don't.

@Carloschagas83 The English replaced the Natives and wiped them out. Then the 13 colonies started to wipe out the natives . Unlike the Spanish who didn't wipe them all out. So most of latin america is of native decent instead of being purely Spaniard. The Spanish didn't become majority in the Americas. Also they got independence from Spain. It isn't spain fault for latin americas failure.
French Colonies aren't doing well either, other then a Canada who is a white majority country.

I don´t get this Latino thing. Latino only means Latin. Latin countries are the countries in Europe that belonged to the former Roman Empire. Latin America are the countries that were colonized by those countries. An Italian is Latino, a Frechman is Latino. I think the proper term to what you want to define is Latin American. And Latin Americans are very different from each other. Argentina, Brazil and Mexico are totally different.
