@dinas I had this done Friday. I had ovarian cysts, uterine fibroids, heavy bleeding, cramps that felt 2 steps shy of death, and I felt like crap for 6 months. I've had little pain. I'm at home for 2 weeks recovering. I'm fine, I feel good. I've had little pain. It feels like mild cramping at its worst. After the problems I had, I'd recommend this to anyone in a heartbeat. I'm single and haven't had sex in a little bit so I can't relate to those after experiences but it's worth it to me.
Biggest mistake of my life vaginal cut opened during sex which caused me to have a c section cut on my stomach and be sewed again vaginally and now a 4 month wait to have sex and afraid of this happening again and not being a normal woman again and robotic hyst is way more painful than c section . Dont ruin yourself as a woman
Excellent surgery...I see you have bought into what the davinci reps have told you "you need the 3rd arm"....well you dont! This is a str8 forward case and in my opinion can be completed easily with ONLY 2 arms. Less arms= less expense and less holes in the patient when it is not necessary. I have completed 150 robotic cases WITHOUT the use of the 3rd arm. Uterine weight 50-785gms......Just sayin!
Using all that monopolar at the cuff will result in necrosed tissue leading to a greater chance of cuff dehiscence. Secondly, he is not using a manipulator by the looks of it, but rather a sponge stick pushing up against the occluder balloon. A RUMI manipulator attached to the KOH colpotomizer is a superior method. By using this instrument, not only are you outlining a clear plain to perform the colpotomy but also pushing the ureters laterally to minimize the risk of injury.
A better bipolar coagulation technique would be to coagulate lateral to medial to decrease extent of thermal damage. Also, in my opinion, there is too much monopolar coagulation especially at vaginal cuff.
I have started doing this procedure at my hospital. We use a Rumi with KOH cups. I don't recognize the device you were using for the colpotomy. I would like to try it out. What is it called?
Dr. Cardosi did my da Vinci hysterectomy. Went home the next day. Off narcotic pain meds 3 days after that. Back to work 1 week after the surgery. Amazing technology in the hands of an exceptional physician.

Amazing. I would like to know: what is being used for manipulator? What the monopolar cautery setting is?
