It looks crap now, but the stories about the show used to get into the national papers... my parents used to watch it, then shout at the TV at the characters...
Great theme tune - can;t say I ever really watched the show - remember they had a funny scottish bloke a bloke from Dudley (?) called Benny and course Meg. Whilst people now poke fun at the show I do recall that it was massive in its day -it was just not very good!
It is too bad those ITV regional idents were discontinued. It made the presentation more of an "event" no matter how cheezy the product. Also, they acted as cue to it is now time to settle down and watch (no VCR no DVR). RIP Roger Tonge who died all too young at 35.
@623058 One ITV region showed it at 7pm for a while, but just the one. Clashed with Top of the Pops on a Thursday which lead to complains from "housewives" to ATV that they had arguments with their teenage children who wanted to watch BBC One instead.

These were the glory days of Crossroads, before Central acquired the midlands franchise and started tinkering with the format.

Fantastic. How many prime times programmes these days would include a mention of Dudley Zoo?

I remember as a 4-7 year old kid willing this trash to be over, so that the six million dollar man could start.

Its the episode recorded by WestWard TV in 1976 by mistake, it is otherwise wiped officially. Has been released on the Xrds DVDs.

This is from the 1970s as the early 80s episodes had the white lettering on orange for the end credits.
