@6digit Because military budget paid for this. We have disaster relief funds for things like that. Personally, I have agree with you, though. We should spend our disaster relief money helping our own citizens that live in poverty before we send it to foreign countries. I know that in the eyes of God our lives are of equal value. But to me, the lives of my fellow Americans are worth far more than lives of people in third world countries.

@zvan03 Maybe it didn't do anything because it wasn't in commission till 2003? It's maiden voyage to Ft. Lauderdale, FL from Norfolk, VA from November 11-13, 2003. Kinda hard for a ship to help before it's ever even touched the water. There were 2 scrambled fighters on 9/11 as well. But no one could be contacted with the authority to authorize firing upon an American airliner with American countrymen and women passengers.
